'India, Pakistan only two stakeholders in Kashmir issue' New Delhi (IANS): In a clear rebuff to Pakistan, India's external affairs ministry Wednesday said that following the Simla Agreement of 1972, India and Pakistan were the only two stakeholders on the issue of Jammu and Kashmir and "none else". Ministry spokesperson Syed Akbaruddin wrote on Twitter: "Following Simla Agreement there are only 2 'stakeholders' on the issue of Jammu & Kashmir - India & Pakistan. None else." "An approach different to the one laid down in the Simla Agreement & Lahore Declaration does not yield results in India-Pakistan rela-

tions," he said. Akbaruddin's statement came in reaction to Pakistan High Commissioner Abdul Basit saying that his meeting with Kashmiri separatists Monday and Tuesday was "a long-standing practice" and "it is important to engage with all stakeholders". On the Pakistan high commissioner saying that he met the Hurriyat leaders because they were the representatives of the people of Jammu and Kashmir, and stakeholders in the Kashmir issue, Akbaruddin said the Simla Agreement "is a principle which is the bedrock of our bilateral relations. This was reaffirmed in the Lahore

Declaration of 1999 between Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee". He said Pakistan had given assurance to India "at the highest level, that they were committed to a peaceful dialogue on the issue of Jammu and Kashmir and they would not allow Pakistan or territories under its control to be used for terrorism against us". "We know now, particularly after the Mumbai terror attacks and the manner in which Pakistan has pursued subsequent investigations and trials, that this assurance had no meaning and that an approach that is different to

Six UP brides leave in-laws' homes over lack of toilets

Lucknow (IANS): Six newlywed women in Uttar Pradesh walked out of their in-laws' homes rather than walk into the fields to ease themselves. Taking their cue from Prime Minister Narendart Modi's call in his Independence Day address for a toilet in every household, especially in rural areas, the young brides protested to their husbands and in-laws over lack of such a facility. These brides from Kushinagar district returned to their parents within weeks of tying the knot, a non-governmental organisation said. Neelam, Kalawati, Shakina, Niranjan, Gudiya and Sita of Khesiya village protested when they found there were no toilets attached to their

NEW

houses. After spending a couple of days, they returned to their parental homes over the past two months. Sulabh International, an NGO working for providing low-cost sanitation, has announced it would build toilets free for the brides. Terming the brides' rebellion as a "bold and extraordinary step", Sulabh founder Bindeshwar Pathak told IANS that such incidents clearly show the changing mindset of girls over modern toilets. Sulabh spokesman Madan Jha said the NGO would construct the toilets free of cost without any delay so that the brides can return to their inlaws' place soon. He also said the six women

would be honoured for their bold stand. Two years back, Priyanka Bharti, a bride from Maharajgunj, was honoured for taking a similar step. Bharti now works as a Sulabh motivator and has also appeared with Bollywood actress Vidya Balan in a sanitation advertisement of the union government. Sulabh has in the past handed over a cheque of Rs.5 lakh to a tribal woman, Anita Narre of Betul district in Madhya Pradesh, after she left her marital home within days of her wedding protesting lack of a toilet. Prime Minister Modi, during his Independence Day address, mentioned the need to build toilets in every home.

Foreign Office spokesperson Tasnim Aslam said Pakistan was "not subservient to India. It is a sovereign country and a legitimate stakeholder in the Jammu and Kashmir dispute". Aslam also asserted that "Kashmir is not part of India. It is a disputed territory". India called off the foreign secretary-level talks scheduled for Aug 25 over Basit holding talks with Kashmiri separatist leaders despite Islamabad being asked not to. Pakistan described the decision to cancel the talks as a setback to its efforts to promote good neighbourly relations.

Basit also stressed on the need to look at the Kashmir issue "dispassionately and in a more realistic manner". Special Investigation Team on black money has made progress: Supreme Court Consider a career in bookkeeping. The Canadian Bookkeepers Association (CBA) offers you the opportunity of becoming a Registered Professional Bookkeeper.

New Delhi (IANS): The Supreme Court Wednesday said the Special Investigation Team (SIT) that was set up to probe the unaccounted money stashed away in tax havens and foreign banks has made some progress in that direction. The apex court bench of Justice H.L. Dattu, Justice Ranjana Prakash Desai and Justice Madan B. Lokur made this observation as it perused the interim report submitted to it by the Joint Secretary (Revenue) in a sealed cover. "The report is confidential. We can only say some progress has been made", Justice Dattu said as court asked the SIT to proceed with the task before them as it directed the next hearing of the matter on November 11,

2014. "We request the SIT members to proceed with the task before them," the court said in its order. The court also allowed petitioner Ram Jethmalani and his counsel Anil Divan to interact with the members of the SIT on the manner and means of getting black money from the banks located abroad. "They can suggest means and method (of getting the money stashed offshore) and nothing beyond it," the court ordered on a plea by Jethmalani as he sought the court's nod to interact with the SIT members. Initially, the court said petitioner Jethmalani and his counsel needed no permission of the court to interact with the members of the SIT.

The court also asked Additional Solicitor General Neeraj Kishan Kaul to tell the court about the steps taken by the government on the letter written by Ram Jethmalani to some authority in Germany and the response to it. Jethmalani in his March 29, 2014, communication to Herrn Bundesminister, Dr. Wolfgang Schauble urged him to ask the German government to declare that it had no objection to the Indian government making public the names of Indian account holders in banks of Liechtenstein whose names were given to India by it. The court directed the Centre to give Jethmalani details of the account holders in banks of Liechtenstein that were submitted to the

court on May 1, 2014. The court's order came as senior counsel Divan told the court that the government had given it the names of 18 people against whom prosecution has been launched but held back the names of eight people. Divan told the court that two sets of names were submitted to the court in two separate envelopes but the government gave them one set of names and not the other. The apex court by its July 4, 2011, order had set up the SIT which was mandated to undertake the investigations into the unaccounted money stashed away outside the country in tax havens and foreign banks and take steps to bring it back.

New Delhi (IANS): The government Wednesday announced a special programme to transform India into a digitally empowered society. The programme "Digital India" was approved at a meeting of the union cabinet chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. "The programme aims to transform India into a digitally empowered society and knowledge economy," Law and Justice Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad said at a briefing after the meeting.

He said the approval was a follow up to key decisions taken on the design of the programme during a meeting held by the prime minister Aug 7. The programme has been envisaged by the department of electronics and information technology. The programme will be implemented in phases from the current year till 2018. It would ensure that government services are available to citizens electronically. It would also bring in pub-

lic accountability through mandated delivery of government's services electronically, an official release said here. The source of funding for most e-governance projects at present is through budgetary provisions of respective ministries or departments in the central or state governments. The requirements of funds for individual project(s) for Digital India would also be worked out by respective nodal ministries. The programme envisions

high-speed internet as a core utility which would be made available in all gram panchayats. Mobile phone and bank accounts would enable participation in digital and financial space at individual levels. It will also seek to provide safe and secure cyber space in the country, the release said, adding that the services would also be available in Indian languages. The overall scope of this programme is to prepare India for a knowledge future.

Wife, workmate charged with Sikh man's murder

Wellington (IANS): The wife of a Sikh man and her workmate have been charged with murdering him in New Zealand, media reported Wednesday. Gurjinder Singh, 25, and Amandeep Kaur, 31, appeared in the Auckland High Court Wednesday to face the murder charge of 35-year-old Davinder Singh, the New Zealand Herald reported. Name suppression for the pair was lifted Wednesday. The incident occurred Aug 7 outside the Manukau Event Centre, a site for public functions in Auckland.

Police said Kaur was with the victim on the night of the incident. Davinder Singh was attacked when the couple had stopped on a road to buy takeaways while on their way home from work. He was attacked with a sharp implement and died on the spot in the driver's seat. "Singh got a lot of wounds so there's definitely an indication of a violent struggle that's occurred in and around the vehicle," said Dave Lynch, detective inspector. Police charged Kaur and Gurjinder Singh with murder.

Indian colours, floats celebrate I-Day in New York

New York (IANS): The Indian-American community, wearing bright and colourful clothes, celebrated India's 68th Independence Day with a parade dancing down Manhattan's Madison Avenue Sunday. One of the main fashionable avenues of New York was a sea of Indian colours, complete with floats, drums and, of course, a lot of saris. "It's a way of saluting those who lost their lives" in the struggle for independence, said Ankur Vaidya, president of the Federation of Indian Associations, which organizes the annual India Day Parade in New York City told Newsday. The 34th edition of the

India Day Parade in New York City drew tens of thousands of spectators, several Bollywood stars and local elected officials, the local newspaper said. Some men and boys wore tunic-like kafni pajamas in white symbolising peace. One marcher dressed as Mahatma Gandhi, complete with walking staff. One float in the parade featured a replica of the 1 World Trade Centre tower linked by a bridge to a miniature Taj Mahal. "Bringing America and India together," the float read. "United we stand." "Bollywood has never seen a parade this big outside of India!" federa-

tion chairman Ramesh Patel was quoted as saying. Mayor Bill de Blasio, who waved an Indian tricolour flag, applauded the South Asian community's commitment to education, one of his administration's priorities. "The fabric of New York is defined by the parades we go to," Comptroller Scott M. Stringer told Newsday. "This is such an exciting time I think for the South Asian community and the Indian community, because like so many other groups, they are coming of age politically, culturally and as a business community," he said.

The motive for the attack was not robbery, police confirmed. Both defendants, however, pleaded not guilty. Immediately after the incident, Davinder Singh's family said he had no enemies. They believed his killing was a case of being in the wrong place at the wrong time. Before the charges were laid, the Sikh

community said they would rally around Kaur to support her but she will remain in custody until at least October when she and her co-accused will be back before the court. Davinder Singh came to New Zealand from Rajasthan seven years ago and had been working as an upholsterer at DS Furniture in Mangere, a suburb of Auckland, the report said.

Punjab Youth Congress objects to film on Indira's assassins Chandigarh (IANS): The Punjab Youth Congress (PYC) Saturday strongly opposed the permission granted for the screening of the controversial Punjabi movie 'Kaum de Heere', saying it glorifies the assassins of former prime minister Indira Gandhi. In a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, PYC president Vikramjit Singh Chaudhary said it was unfortunate that a movie that glorifies and glamourises Indira Gandhi's assassins and terrorism was being allowed to be screened in Punjab

and other parts of the country. "This does not portend well for the hard earned peace in Punjab as it seeks to glorify, glamourise and revive terrorism in Punjab. I wonder how can such a film with such questionable

content be cleared for release by the film Censor Board of India," Chaudhary said in his letter. He warned that if the permission for the film's screening is not withdrawn, Punjab Youth Congress activists will stage protests

across Punjab and prevent its release and screening. "The government shall be responsible for any law and order issue that may crop up," he said. The then prime minister, Indira Gandhi, was shot dead by her two Sikh body guards at her official residence in New Delhi October 31, 1984, blaming her for the launch of Operation Bluestar on the Golden Temple complex, the holiest of Sikh shrines, in Amritsar in June 1984. The film is based on the assassins of Indira Gandhi.

Bharti Foundation announces Rs.100 crore for toilets in Ludhiana

Chandigarh (IANS): Inspired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi's call to corporates to chip in for rural sanitation projects, Bharti Foundation - the development arm of Bharti Enterprises Monday announced a Rs.100 crore 'Satya Bharti Abhiyan' to provide toilets in Punjab's Ludhiana district. "The foundation has decided to adopt Ludhiana district - home district of the Bharti founder Sunil Bharti Mittal, as its focus area for improvement of rural sanitation.

"As part of this programme, the foundation will invest up to Rs.100 crore in constructing toilets while reaching out to every rural household lacking such facilities in the district, over the next three years," a company release said. Commenting on the initiative, Bharti Foundation chairman Sunil Bharti Mittal said: "Lack of private sanitation facilities in rural households not only constitutes a major cause of embarrassment for the women, but also points to a much wider problem of rural hygiene and cleanli-

ness. "'Satya Bharti Abhiyan' will help cover a long felt gap in rural hygiene infrastructure in Punjab, besides contributing to the larger national mission of 'Swachh Bharat' in its own limited way. It is our commitment that no single household or school in rural Ludhiana will be without a toilet by the end of this tenure." In addition to rural household sanitation, the campaign will also invest in improving sanitation facilities in government schools in rural Ludhiana by building new toilets for

girls, where no such facilities exist. "Lack of proper sanitation facilities, particularly for girls in rural schools has been an important factor leading to large scale drop outs," the release said. The Bharti Foundation has been running other campaigns for free education to underprivileged children in rural areas with special focus on the girl child. Over 52,000 children from socially and economically challenged backgrounds are being covered under the campaign.

Shoe-hurling: Badal sees a 'political conspiracy'

Chandigarh (IANS): Terming the incident of a shoe being hurled at him as a "deep-rooted political conspiracy", Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal Wednesday said "political parties must refrain from stooping too low for countering their political rivals". Badal blamed the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) for the incident. Badal, while speaking

to media at an event in Longowal village to mark the 29th martyrdom day of Sant Harchand Singh Longowal, said: "It is unfortunate that the AAP leadership had conceived this act just to counter the growing popularity of Shiromani Akali Dal-BJP government in the state." He said that the incident was a part of a "bigger conspiracy".

Despite demands from various quarters for him to forgive the shoe-thrower, Badal said the law would take its own course against those behind the crime. The shoe was hurled at Badal by an unemployed youth in Issru village near Ludhiana Friday during a function to celebrate Independence Day. The shoe missed Badal but the police arrested the

youth, Bikram, a member of the AAP in Punjab. The incident acquired political overtones with

the ruling Shiromani Akali Dal blaming the AAP for the incident. Akali Dal leaders

alleged that AAP MP from Sangrur Bhagwant Mann was behind the incident.

Surprise checks in 984 Punjab government schools

Chandigarh (IANS): To ensure punctuality and discipline among teachers, surprise checks were carried out in 984 government schools in various parts of Punjab Tuesday. An education department spokesperson said that during the special checking, a total of 35 teachers were found absent, 51 teachers were late and 23 teachers were found to be long time absentees. The checks, in three education circles of Jalandhar, Faridkot and Nabha (Patiala district), were conducted following directions from state Education Minister Daljit Singh Cheema. Cheema directed senior officers

Punjab to get 2,000 MW solar power plant

Chandigarh (IANS): Union Power and New and Renewable Energy Minister Piyush Goyal Tuesday announced the setting up of a 2,000 MW solar power plant in Punjab to augment power generation in the state. The minister, during a visit here Tuesday, met Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal and other senior officials to discuss reforms in the state's power sector, besides further enhancing its power generation capacity. Punjab has been facing a major power crisis for the past few years. The situation was bad this summer too. The state experienced power cuts ranging from five to 15 hours in different areas despite Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Badal claiming that Punjab would be power surplus and would sell power to other states and even to Pakistan.

Hockey India secretary general calls Kapil Dev 'opportunist'

New Delhi (IANS): Disgruntled Hockey India (HI) secretary Narinder Batra Wednesday launched a tirade against cricket legend Kapil Dev, who headed the Arjuna Awards selection committee, calling him an opportunist and said the World Cup-winning captain settled an old score with him by ignoring seven hockey players for the Arjuna Award. Batra's comments came a day after the Arjuna Awards selection committee reviewed the list of the 15 players, who were chosen for the honour and decided that there was no need for additional names.

Batra, in a statement, said Kapil was trying to get even with him after his recommendations denied the former all-rounder's company Dev Musco some contracts in installing floodlights in Bhubaneswar and Haryana. Batra took offence to Kapil's 'Who is Batra?' comment and said: "Kapil Dev approached 'Who is Batra' during the period Ferozshah Kotla Cricket Stadium was being rebuilt to ensure that Dev Musco gets the order for high mast lights. Then 'Who is Batra' told him that lowest bidder amongst GE, Phillips, Bajaj and Dev Musco will get the order.

He even got messages sent to 'Who is Batra' through a common friend from Manchester called one Mr. M. Bhatia who is also from Chandigarh, to help Dev Musco and give order to Dev Musco." Batra also said that when Hockey India League (HIL) was started in 2013, the broadcasters wanted better quality lights for high definition telecast and when HI approached Dev Musco they quoted 10 times higher than others. "When we started Hockey India League (HIL) in 2013, the broadcast and production wanted to ensure that the lux levels of lights in all stadi-

ums are sufficient for high definition production and telecast. We approached Dev Musco, the rates they quoted were 10 times higher that others, hence we got it done through others," said Batra. Batra also said that Dev Musco wanted favours from him in installing lights at hockey stadiums in Bhuvaneshwar, Jind, Hissar and Rohtak, which he politely refused. "Kapil Dev is a respected elite athlete and has selective amnesia, and if he had any grudge or score to settle with me, then he should not have taken it out on the seven hockey athletes, who were all rated as incompe-

tent and ineligible based on the views of fraud hockey expert Anupam Ghulati in the committee," he said. "Elite athletes come at India level after years of hard work, shame on you Kapil Dev for handling your responsibilities as chairman of the committee with such petty thoughts and unfair and biased attitude," he said. Batra branded Kapil as a rebel of Indian cricket and called him an opportunist. "You started a parallel cricket league and from an elite athlete became a rebel and criticised BCCI and made good money out of it. You have every right to make money and

why not. The BCCI announced handsome prize money for 1983 World Cup winners and monthly/annual pension for ex-India players. You being a rebel might not have got the money from BCCI. I know where you went and cried to get back into the BCCI fold... For you we say 'Moukatarian'," he said. Batra also filed petitions under the Right to Information Act seeking information from the sports ministry about the details of the selection procedure of the Arjuna Awards and qualifications and achievements of a member Anupam Gulati.

Gavaskar backs Dhoni, hails Shastri's appointment

New Delhi (IANS): India's cricket legend Sunil Gavaskar Tuesday backed beleaguered captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni for leading with example and also hailed the appointment of his former team mate Ravi Shastri as the team director for the ODI series against England starting Aug 25. Gavaskar said it would be wrong to blame Dhoni for the team's debacle in England and also felt that he should continue as the captain. "He has led from the front. He has batted at difficult positions. He has set an example. If his example has not been followed by the rest of the team, I don't think you can blame the captain. I don't think there is any alternative to Mahendra Singh Dhoni in the foreseeable future and I would back him to carry on," Gavaskar told NDTV. Gavaskar agrees with the BCCI's decision to remove bowling coach Joe Dawes and fielding consultant Trevor Penney for the one-day series and replacing them with former Indian all-rounder Sanjay Bangar and ex-India pacer Bharat Arun as assistant coaches. Both Dawes and Penney were hand-picked by chief coach Duncan Fletcher. "I think the fact that they have appointed coaches, assistant coaches, who have a very real interest in Indian cricket as against a commercial interest of maybe somebody else, they will have an impact. Mind you they will not have an immediate bearing. This is not instant coffee. So you just have to be a little more patient," said Gavaskar. The former India captain also believes that having Indian coaches as support staff will also improve the communication process. "But having coaches as I have said, who have real interest, who have sweated on Indian cricket fields will make a huge difference. A huge difference in communication with the players because communication is very important. There are a lot of our players who might not be able to understand some of the language spoken by the non-Indians. So the fact that we have now Indian assistant coaches will make a huge difference," he added. About Fletcher's future, Gavaskar said: "I would not put myself in Duncan Fletcher's shoes. I wouldn't even bother to try and go into his mind what is he thinking because I am just not interested in what he thinks. I was interested in what he does. I had made my views very clear on his coaching abilities a long time ago. And I won't go further into this."

Ranbir wants to make short film with three Khans

RANBIR Kapoor, who had earlier talked about making a short film on the life of his grandfather and legendary actorfilmmaker Raj Kapoor, has dropped the idea. Now he plans to make it with the three Khans. Encapsulating Raj Kapoor's life in a short film is next to impossible, therefore, the young star plans to make a short film on the three Khans of Bollywood - Shah Rukh,

Salman Khan and Aamir - where the three will sit together and simply talk. "After I said that, I began to think that a short film would be too small to tell about his (Raj Kapoor) life, it will take me 500 hours to do it,"the 31-year-old said here Tuesday. "But then I also began thinking on whom can I make a short film. Then I thought about an eight-minute short film where Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan and Aamir Khan are sitting on a couch and only talking," Ranbir said here Tuesday. He was speaking at an event to announce his association with Saavn, a US-based digital music company. "The kind of success, fans and the work they have done, just to see them together will be something, which generations and generations will cherish. So if I get a chance to make a short film, it will be with them," he added.

Ranbir has returned after shooting for the first schedule of "Tamasha". He will

7 Ways You Probably Have Never Tried To Calm Your Mind SUDOKU

1. Stop the vicious cycle of worry and learn to breathe.

Dalai Lama

Did you know that we breathe incorrectly most of the time? We actually do it 25,920 times a day, so it is about time we learned to do it properly. This shallow breathing can lead to hyperventilation and can exacerbate anxiety conditions and panic attacks. We are not getting enough oxygen and we are not using our lungs to their full capacity. It also helps to feed the constant chattering in our heads:

These can be anything that you see on your way to work. It could be a cherry tree in blossom, a newly decorated house, white clouds, how the sun glints on a surface, or how the wind blows through the trees. Notice details of color, movement and the interplay between light and shadow. This is a great exercise when you realize, as you arrive at work, you cannot remember any details of your journey. But I bet your stress and anxiety got an overdose from you!

What if…. Why didn’t I…..

HOW TO PLAY: Digits 1 through 9 will appear once in each zone - one zone is an outlined 3x3 grid within the larger puzzle grid. There are nine zones in the puzzle. Do not enter a digit into a box if it already appears elsewhere in the same zone, row across or column down the entire puzzle. Solve Time: Under 13 min. - Genius; 13-17 min - Scholar; 17-21 min - Smart; 21-25 min - Not bad; 25+ min - Keep practising DIFFICULTY LEVEL : MEDIUM

2. Observe 5 objects near you.’

If I don’t……..then……

“Don’t believe everything you think. Thoughts are just that—thoughts.”

If only I hadn’t……..

Allan Lokos

It’s all going pear shaped….

3. Use your sense of smell.

Now, when you start to breathe correctly, you are going to feel beneficial effects in the long term such as less worry and stress, improved posture, easier digestion and better balance.

Have you ever wondered what your apartment or house really smells like? The next time you arrive home, make an effort to smell the air of your home. Try smelling fruit, flowers, trees and food.

Try this method. Exhale a long breath. Keep your mouth open and inhale the same amount of breath right down to your stomach. You should be able to feel your stomach swelling up. The release it again, tightening the stomach muscles as you do so. Your supply of oxygen will help to regulate brain function and reduce your levels of anxiety.

As with all the other exercises, when you use your senses to increase mindfulness, the past regrets and the future worries are pushed to the back of your mind. Regular practice of these techniques will pay handsome dividends over time.

“Health comes from inner peace.”

Read about how two major London hospitals are strongly advocating their patients to use these tactics. Look at the impressive results. It improves mental clarity and productivity at

work and at school. It is not surprising that Apple and Google both use mindfulness training to help their employees.

Klaxons

4. Reflect on your mindfulness exercises.

Cars passing by

If you are to get any benefit from these exercises, you have to reflect on how you felt while doing them. Did you notice any physical changes? What emotions did you feel? Did you feel better in any way? Do it in a nonjudgemental way because that is the key to experiencing the beauty of the universe. As you do this over a period of time, you will be able to assess whether you feel less angry, stressed or depressed. 5. Try mindful walking. When you do mindful walking, you are becoming much more tuned into:

People laughing Doors opening and closing 7. Practice more positivity and gratitude. Often, negativity can take over. Think about what is good in your life, your job and in your relationships. You have a lot to be grateful for. Make a list of these things and keep it near your bed so that you can reflect on this before you sleep. Now, the last question you will ask is, “Does this work?” You will have to try it and experiment. Look at it this way: this is a great way to get in touch with reality. Think of the last vacation you took. You saw new places and you did loads of new things.

The environment, the sounds, sights and smells The air around you, the weather and the changing sky How your body moves Your breathing Invariably, as you reflect on this new way of walking, you will find that your mind is calmer and you feel more refreshed. There are also some physical benefits in that blood pressure is lowered, joints feel better, and you have more flexibility.

Monday / Tuesday:You are engrossed in to something that involves charting out lists, drawing diagrams, writing down the finer details of stuff. Whatever that is, it is something that leaves you time for nothing else. Wednesday/ Thursday: While dedication is a great virtue, it is also important that you be happy and enjoy whatever that you are doing. Midweek, take time out to relax and stretch yourself while continuing to do the tedious, all encompassing task at hand. Friday/ Saturday: It is great that you can apply yourself so extensively on whatever that set your mind upon. Sunday: It is time for real relaxation and recharging of your batteries.

Monday / Tuesday: The beginning of the week may find you a bit uneasy and apprehensive. Sunday: Rest and rejuvenate.

This can help you and the other people involved get over the obstacle in the smoothest way possible. Wednesday/ Thursday: Midweek despite your efforts, things seem to get more and more entangled which is causing you anxiety. You could find yourself caught up in an intense conflict, all because of misinterpretation of facts. Friday/ Saturday: You are irritated and feel misjudged. Sunday: Let not this apprehensiveness get to your nerves.

Monday / Tuesday: You love being in the company of friends and associates, as the new week dawns this Monday. Apart from the regular light hearted chatter about stuff that is happening in other's worlds, you are likely to get some very exciting information about people whom you feel a connect to. So make an effort to keep your eyes and ears open. Wednesday/ Thursday: Midweek is more about matters of the heart and affection. You are enjoying all the romantic attention you get and reciprocating the same. Friday/ Saturday: Now the focus shifts to monetary affairs. Sunday: Regain your balance, Scales!

Monday / Tuesday:You may not realise this right away but might be at a different wavelength from that of others beginning this week. Their focus and objectives may be distinctly different from what it may seem apparently. Hence it is all the more important that you interact with them on a one to one basis and get clarity on matters. Wednesday/ Thursday: Midweek your attention is shifted on gaining approval from near and dear ones. Friday/ Saturday: Resist following just your own instincts and taking decisions singularly. Sunday: You might be tempted to spend time alone, reflecting on current developments.

Monday / Tuesday: You can sense the vibes in the air! There is something special that you feel for someone and they too reciprocate the same emotions. Is it really difficult to name the bonding that seems to be developing between you and this other individual, who is so dear to you. It would be good to voice out what-ever it is so that you know exactly where you stand. Wednesday/ Thursday: You are happy and you can feel it deep inside you. That nice feeling keeps your face smiling and your mood chirpy and bright. Friday/ Saturday: Be cautious. A small mole hill of a matter could become a mountain in no time. Sunday:You are sensitive and touchy.

Monday / Tuesday: You are thinking deeply and revisiting objectives / definite goals that you had set up for your life. You are now beginning to question and doubt previously unquestionable facts. Wednesday/ Thursday: Monetary concerns and financial issues have occupied maximum mind space. And you are now trying to chalk out strategies that will help you achieve your fullest potential. Friday/ Saturday: You have some great admirers amongst your near and dear ones and your mind is totally working towards a possible breakthrough that will help you achieve the success you desire. Sunday: Take it easy.

Monday / Tuesday: It is so easy for you to read in to your pal's mind to know the assistance he/she seeks. It is this innate depth and telepathy that separates you from others and your friends value it in you. Wednesday/ Thursday: Midweek could find you a bit overly obstinate and inflexible. Just to let you know this could land you in trouble. Ideally be accommodative of others point of views and demonstrate patience and understanding. This will stand you in good stead in the long run. Friday/ Saturday:You are in demand now. People look up to you for advice and guidance. Sunday: This admiration from others could be the start of something new.

Monday / Tuesday: You have a distinct capability of being able to assess what others have on their mind even without their saying a word to you. And that's the skill that gives you an upper hand in issues that truly matter. Wednesday/ Thursday: Despite this you may realise that what you thought about a certain individual turns out to be quite different from what they really are. On deeper analysis, their point of view seems justified. Friday/ Saturday: You seem to be connecting very well with others – be it acquaintances or even strangers. Socially you come across as a friendly and popular person. Sunday: You want to take time off the external world and relax.

Monday / Tuesday: You may feel heavily disadvantaged as far as communicating with others is concerned. Nobody seems to get it right, not even your near and dear ones, leave alone professional acquaintances. Yet don't despair or give up. Try your best to get the message across. Wednesday/ Thursday: Contrary to this would be the response midweek. You and your message will be understood by people even without you saying a word. Especially the interaction with someone special will go very well. You could be feeling very attracted to someone spectacular. Friday/ Saturday:You are trying to figure out a deep puzzle. Sunday: You are lost.

Monday / Tuesday: Things seem to be falling in place for you as the new week begins this Monday. You feel organized and in control and you tend to go out of the way to maintain this decorum to the optimum. Wednesday/ Thursday: Yet do not get carried a bit too far on maintenance of this orderly discipline else you may end up annoying those around you. Do it in an absolutely original, innovative manner that is flexible and accommodating. Friday/ Saturday: A casual one on one interaction could lead to deeper insights. Sunday: The detective in you is working overtime.

Monday / Tuesday: Your participation may be required in a major way to help get certain important tasks out of the way. There could be moments when you just want to quit yet someone who is an important influential person in your life will not let you do so. It could be an obligation or responsibility that you will have to shoulder. Wednesday/ Thursday: Make it an interactive participation encouraging others to participate as well. Friday/ Saturday: You may have to step in to an assertive position of power to help resolve an issue amongst two conflicting parties. Sunday: It is now time to sit back and think.

descended from nowhere and chaos reigned. Her career might not be in top form at the moment, but the dusky Bengali beauty - affectionately called "Bengal's daughter" by the commoners here - still has the power to draw large crowds and prove how futile the police arrangements can become when it comes to controlling star-crazy fans. At around 5 p.m. Tuesday, the blink-andyou-miss entrance to the famed temple was surrounded by a group of policemen to usher Rani's convoy of cars and bouncers. This caught the attention of curious onlookers, passersby and the regular beggars and street kids (mostly semi-clad) who then started collecting behind the row of policemen to catch a glimpse. Mediapersons and cameramen who needed to get a clear shot of the celeb had a tough time finding a spot as the milling crowd pushed and shoved. Needless to say, most had their smartphones, in the video mode, held aloft. A few of the choicest abuses were hurled as a deaf and mute kid tried to head-butt through the ring of photographers lined up

behind a rope barricade. The clock ticked by and anticipation ran high. And all of sudden a mad rush ensued when a high-end luxury car zoomed in. And then, it was a blur! Youngsters armed with smartphones, parents with kids perched on their shoulders and shopkeepers standing on tip-toe -there was nobody left who didn't join in. A few scattered policemen shouted out words to control the public. The rope barricade was long gone. While most of the reporters had to brace themselves against the onslaught of the public, the shopkeepers added to the din as more and more people wanted to get a peep. "Ami dekhbo... aapni shorun (you move away... I want a view)," screeched an elderly shopkeeper as a media person wanted a

better position jostling among the throng. "Amra Rani ke dekhechi," said a gleeful woman after her successful star-gazing. As Rani stepped out from the vehicle and went inside the temple, the crowd dispersed, only to come back again, with what seemed in bigger numbers and a vengeance. Those who couldn't see Rani the first time around, gathered in numbers. As earlier, smartphones went up. This created a problem for the media as Rani's words to the clamouring reporters could be barely heard over the numerous but small verbal fights that broke out. Some had to drag a couple of unrelenting youngsters by their school bags out of the media-zone. This was a day when the public seemed to have become the paparazzi. A weary policeman on the spot told IANS: "Nowadays, everybody is the media. All they need is a smartphone." An entertainment reporter admitted: "I have never felt so scared... for a moment I thought there would be a stampede and I would be caught in that." (IANS)

The new Mazda 2014 CX-5 Skyactiv mid- size crossover. Designed to attract younger buyers it is certainly sharp looking and is the first of a new generation of Mazda vehicles to incorporate the company’s ”Kodo” or “motion in soul” design language. 2014 Ford Fiesta – Good things come in small packages!

By Autorevieman

The excellent Ford Fiesta range in Canada starts with a five door sedan, at $12,999 and the five-door Fiesta hatchback priced at $16,599. The five-door Fiesta comes with power door locks, keyless entry, a rear wiper, four-speaker stereo with Sirius satellite radio pre-paid for six months, air conditioning, very cool ambient lighting, removable package tray in the cargo area, cloth seats and power windows. The fully loaded tester we drove was a Fiesta SE five-door hatchback (Base priced at $16,599 and has all the options you could want including cruise control, heated front seats, a six-speaker sound system, Ford excellent Sync voice-activated communications and navigation system and other goodies. Fancy piped leather seating is a $1,200 option. Our tester came in as a “race red SE model with options in the 201A equipment group featuring the SE apperance package, SYNC MYFORD TOUCH satellite radio system and 16 inch painted aluminum wheels. Also added was the 6-speed auto transmission ($1250) power moonroof ($1200), and the comfort package comprising of heated front seats, dual power heated door mirror with blind side monitoring and electronic auto tempreture control. Other optiosn include the Navigation/sync/touch/satelolte radio and keylessentry pad. Total vehicle, AC tax and options price came to $21,452 and destination and delivery added $1550 for a total price of $23,002. What really stands out to me and other journalist is just how expensive the Fiesta look on the inside with softtouch materials on the armrest on the door and the dash, places where small cars often lack padding, the gauges look great and features such as the keyless start and Fords excellent Ford’s Sync system; a voice-operated infotainment system is amazing in this class The Sync allows for hands-free operation of a driver’s phone and music player. The system is simple to use and is the benchmark in efficiency Other reasons why the Fiesta is so good in my opinion is that a lot of the sporty European flair has not been dialled out such as the quick, nimble handling, defined steering and supple suspension which make for entertaining driving. One recommendation is the optional $1,200 six-speed automatic transmission that delivers precise fast, smooth shifts, while also saving fuel. For power, the Fiesta has a refined 1.6-litre four-cylinder engine equipped with twin independent variable camshaft timing. that help deliver a creditable 120 horsepower and fuel economy at 7.0 litres/100 km in the city, 5.0 litres/100km on the highway). Interior design is very smart and well thought out with features such the cellphone inspired dash design, the push button start feature and the use of high quality plastics and fabrics. Interior room is good for its class and the rear cabin is also comfortable, but six footers will find it a squeeze out back. The sedan trunk is spacious. But I think most buyers will opt for the arguably better looking and more versatile hatchback model. What stood out was the exact, precise way the little Fiesta shows Fords three decades plus of engineering on

the test drive evaluation. Great road manners in stop-and-go city traffic, long

fast curves and switchback roads, a quiet ride, safe predictable dynamics and surprisingly good fuel economy make the Fiesta an enticing proposition if you are looking for a compact car. It also a very safe family car with as standard AdvanceTrac Electronic Stability Control, font, side, knee and side curtain airbags, four wheel antilock brakes, tire pressure monitoring system, LATCH mounting system for children and child –safety rear locks. This new Fiesta is a complete bargain for the price, its fuel thrifty, economical and excellent value for money. One Entertainment unleashes the big guns for The Expendables 3. Here the accent is on action as Sly and the boys (plus a girl) get into more hot water at Cineplex Odeon theatres around B.C. Sylvester Stallone (Rocky) has a lot in common with Adam Sandler. Both like to give their friends jobs in

movies. Only Bruce Willis chose to sit this film out. Instead of Willis The Italian Stallion wisely brought into the colourful mix Wesley Snipes (Blade) and Harrison Ford (Raiders of the Lost Ark), This time the mission of Barney (Stallone) and friends is to bring to heel a ruthless arms dealer

played with reckless abandon by real life bad boy Mel Gibson (Lethal Weapon). In a story at scans the globe Barney tries recruiting a "younger" version of himself to go after a seemingly unstoppable arms merchant of death. Brought back for this perilous mission are fan favourites Jason

Will Rihanna, Coldplay perform at Super Bowl? Los Angeles: (IANS) Musicians Katy Perry, Rihanna and Coldplay are likely to perform at the Super Bowl if they're willing to cough up the cash. Super Bowl is the annual championship game of the National Football League (NFL). It is expected to take place Feb 1, 2015 at the University of Phoenix stadium in Glendale here. According to a report published in the Wall Street Journal, the NFL has already established three frontrunners

for the 2015 half-time performance - Perry, Rihanna and Coldplay. But now there's apparently a cash-fuelled catch behind the iconic gig, reports eonline.com. Upon informing the musical acts of their candidacy, the NFL also asked the hitmakers' representatives if they would be willing "to contribute a portion of their post-Super Bowl tour income to the league, or if they would make some other type of financial contribution, in exchange for the half-time gig,"

the Wall Street Journal reports. The request was ill-received by the half-time contenders, as artists have never previously paid to perform at the annual championship game. While it's currently unclear how much money the league is seeking, NFL spokeswoman Joanna Hunter said that the only goal is "to put on the best possible show." "Our contract arrangements with artists are confidential," Hunter said.

Aamir dropped pants for 'PK', wonders would Salman follow suit?

IT seems Aamir Khan is in the mood to rag his friend and colleague Salman Khan! The former dropped his pants for the poster of his forthcoming film "PK" and wonders would the latter ape him again? During "Dhoom 3" Aamir's cap caught people's fancy, including Salman. "During 'Dhoom 3' my cap got very famous and Salman was wearing the cap on 'Bigg Boss', so, now I want to test his

friendship. So let's see can he do this - he removed his shirt, now

can he remove his pants?" Aamir asked, humorously. He was addressing the media who gathered here for the launch of the second poster of "PK", directed by Rajkumar Hirani. In the first poster, Aamir went nude and flaunted his chiselled body. But the naysayers have alleged that it has been photo shopped. Denying the allegations, Aamir said: "The photo has not been photo shopped. I had made the

body for 'Dhoom 3' and simultaneously I started shooting for the film... in fact, after too long I shot for two films at the same time." "For me, this poster is not vulgar. Vulgarity is not in your clothes, it's in your mind and the way you

talk," he added. Would you go nude if it's the demand of the script? "It's too difficult, but over the years I have realised that nothing is impossible. We can only do our work," he replied. Although not much is known about the film, but

interestingly, Aamir will be "seen speaking in Bhojpuri throughout" the movie. "I hope Bhojpuri industry accepts our film wholeheartedly. Language has an emotional connect," he said. (IANS)

Shahid's work in 'Haider' impresses dad Pankaj Kapur

“I am happy to see my son doing well," said acclaimed actor Pankaj Kapur referring to Shahid Kapoor's work in his forthcoming film "Haider", an Indian adaptation of Shakespeare's "Hamlet". Within a span of a few weeks both father and son will come on screen to woo the audience. If English language "Finding Fanny" will see Pankaj tickling the funny bones of the audience, Shahid's "Haider" will keep the audience on the edge of their seats. "I am happy to see my son doing well. 'Haider' is certainly a special film and coming from Vishal Bhardwaj makes it all the

more special. I am extremely happy to see Shahid's work in 'Haider'," Pankaj, who has been part of Bhardwaj's well crafted dramas "Maqbool" and "The Blue Umbrella", told IANS. Homi Adajania's quirky drama "Finding Fanny",

which also stars Dimple Kapadia, Deepika Padukone and Arjun Kapoor, is coming out on Sep 12, while "Haider", part of director Bhardwaj's Shakespeare trilogy after “Maqbool” (Macbeth) and “Omkara” (Othello”), will hit the screens Oct 2. In the film Shahid has teamed up with Shraddha Kapoor. If the 60-year-old is impressed with his son's work, he is equally excited about "Finding Fanny". He said: "When Homi came to me with the script I instantly said yes to the film. It's a very unusual film, which I have not done before." (IANS)

It’s a muscle car, a performance sedan, a family capable sedan; its success is that it can be any or all of those things, depending on how the customer chooses to equip their car,” said Tim Kuniskis, President and CEO — Dodge and SRT Brands. “And now, with a NHRA-certified quarter mile (402 m) time of 11.0 seconds and a 328 km/h top speed, the new 2015 Dodge Charger Hellcat redefines itself again, as the quickest, fastest, most powerful sedan in the world!” The 2015 Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat will be built at the Brampton (Ont.) Assembly plant. Production is slated to begin in the first quarter of 2015. Awe-inspiring powertrain; largest brakes ever offered in a Chrysler Group vehicle

The new 2015 Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat is powered by the new supercharged 6.2-litre HEMI V8 engine. Its 707 horsepower matches the highest rating of any V8 engine in Chrysler Group’s celebrated history – that of the 2015 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat. The all-new supercharged V8 engine is mated to the beefy new TorqueFlite 8HP90 eight-speed automatic transmission. This new Hellcat engine is Dodge and SRT’s first application of V8 supercharger technology, featuring a forged-steel crankshaft with induction-hardened bearing surfaces. The result is a crank so well-engineered it can withstand firing pressures of 110 bar (1,595 psi) – the equivalent of five family sedans standing on each piston. And its unique, specially tuned crank damper has been tested to 13,000 rpm. High-strength, forgedalloy pistons, developed using advanced telemetry measurement, are coupled to powder-forged connect

ing rods with high-loadcapacity bushings and diamond-like-carbon-coated piston pins. The supercharged 6.2litre HEMI V8 has premiumgrade, heat-treated aluminum-alloy cylinder heads, which are optimized for superior thermal conductivity. And its die-cast aluminum rocker covers are HEMI Orange. The unrivaled four-door performance numbers tell an impressive story with the quarter mile (402 m) in 11.0 seconds, 0-160-0 km/h (100 mph) in under 13 seconds, and a top speed of 328 km/h (204 mph). The new exterior of the 2015 Dodge Charger is spiritually inspired by the iconic second-generation Charger from the late 1960s, and for 2015, specifically draws its cues from the 1969 model. With its rear-wheel-drive (RWD) platform and proven power, the Charger’s modern take on old-school muscle is sure to resonate with today’s enthusiasts.

The 2015 Toyota Yaris steps up style, performance, standard features, and value

Designed, developed, engineered and built in France, the 2015 Yaris combines eyecatching curb appeal; a highquality, comfortable and spacious cabin; improved han-

dling for a more nimble driving experience; and a long list of standard features. Add it up, and the 2015 Yaris is the standout subcompact. “Toyota has taken the best

of the Yaris and made it even better for 2015. We’ve added more content across the board, including to the sporty Yaris SE and the popular Yaris LE,” noted Larry Hutchinson,

Vice President of Toyota Canada Inc. “The Yaris is the small car that’s big on value – and for 2015, we’ve made styling enhancements inside and out plus performance tweaks, then added even more features as standard. With the 2015 Yaris, Toyota delivers even more value for those shopping for a subcompact.” With a new, lower starting MSRP of just $17,665, the 2015 Yaris SE stands out from the crowd. For 2015, the Toyota Yaris features a striking exterior style with new front bumper for a stronger, more dynamic appearance. At the rear, the bumper and taillights have been revised to convey a broader, lower stance. Each model – CE, LE and SE – is identified by its own unique styling cues and is offered in a range of colours, including new colours for 2015: Blue Streak Metallic and Brown

Sugar Metallic. Inside, the 2015 Yaris features a new design that emphasizes the roominess and dynamism of a cabin with space for five adults. The upper instrument panel is now thinner and the door panels have a more fluid appearance. The interior features numerous materials upgrades that go beyond what you expect in a subcompact – including more tactile softtouch surfaces, satin chrome trim and new seat fabrics. The 2015 Toyota Yaris has you covered, with a full selection of safety systems – including nine airbags and child seat anchors. As with every Toyota since 2011, the 2015 Yaris also features the six active technologies of the Toyota Star Safety System: Vehicle Stability Control, Traction Control, Antilock Brake System, Electronic Brake Force Distribution, Brake

Assist and Smart Stop Technology. Every 2015 Toyota Yaris come standard with an impressive list of features, including: 6.1” Display Audio with USB Input and Bluetooth capability; 60/40 split folddown rear seats; power door locks and windows; a multiinformation display; all season floor mats and more. The five-door Yaris LE adds: air conditioning; tachometer; cruise control; keyless entry; power-adjustable exterior mirrors; and more. The five-door Yaris SE adds: front sport seats; sport fabric seat material; leatherwrapped steering wheel and shift knob; steering wheelmounted audio controls; 16” aluminum alloy wheels; a rear spoiler; fog lamps; and more. For full information on features and specifications, visit www.toyota.ca/yaris.

Mitsubishi seek Canadian input on Mirage G4 sedan

Mitsubishi Motor Sales will ask consumers to critique the look, feel, cost and a feature of a new subcompact sedan before it gets the green-light for sale in Canada. The Mirage G4 sedan, based on the same platform as the recently introduced Mirage hatchback, made its local debut at the Toronto Auto show recently and feedback on the new car was gathered. Company president and CEO Kenichiro “Kenny” Yamamoto said Montreal auto show goers had completed surveys on Mirage G4 earlier and he expects the larger Toronto show to net more feedback. “We expected the

Mirage G4 display will attract tangible comments on the latest Mitsubishi sedan, and subcompacts in general,” he said. “After Toronto, we will now take G4 and our questionnaire to shows in Vancouver and Edmonton.” When it was launched last September, the 2014 Mirage hatchback became Mitsubishi’s first subcompact car in Canada. Since then, Mirage’s top fuel economy, low entry price and leading warranty are resonating well with customers and sales last month hit a new peak.
