Chandigarh (IANS): The Haryana government Monday said it will honour the two sisters who fought three youths who harassed them on a bus as well as a woman who shot the episode on her mobile telephone. The three molesters -- Deepak, Mohit and Kuldeep -- were arrested Sunday evening. A court in Rohtak Monday sent them to judicial custody for five days. The woman passenger, said to be pregnant, was the only one among the passengers who objected to the indecent behaviour of the youths and later captured the harassment of the young women on her mobile phone. The video helped police identify the guilty and arrest them, a government spokesman said. No other passenger in the bus came to the rescue of the college-going Pooja and Aarti or the third woman. Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar announced that Pooja and Aarti would be given cash awards on the o c c a s i o n o f Re p u b l i c D a y. The two displayed courage by attacking the three youths when they

numbers towards them. When the sisters objected, the molesters made lewd gestures. The woman passenger who objected was also harassed by the young men. The sisters said the bus stopped after some distance and the youths pushed them out and started hitting them. While one girl fell on the road, the other fell in a field. One of the sisters then attacked the youth with a brick after which he fled from the spot. The girls called up police and the women helpline but failed to get any response. They said officials at the police station also discouraged them from filing the complaint. Police drew flak for not taking any action after the incident came to light. The Haryana government has directed the director general of police and the transport department to take effective steps to ensure the safety and security of bus passengers, especially women. Bus drivers and conductors have been told to make sure that such incidents do not occur again, an official spokesman said.
Chandigarh (IANS): The Punjab government has decided to hold three 'Sangat Darshans' for Non-resident Indians (NRIs) in Moga, Jalandhar and Ludhiana to redress their grievances, a minister said Wednesday. Punjab's NRI Affairs Minister Tota Singh said that Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal would preside over these Sangat Darshans. The Sangat Darshans would be held at Moga (Dec 28, 2014), Jalandhar (Jan 16, 2015) and Ludhiana (Jan 17, 2015). The minister said that NRIs belonging to Moga, Ferozepur, Fazilka, Muktsar, Bathinda, Mansa and Barnala districts were being invited for these camps at Moga town. NRIs from Jalandhar, Kapurthala, Hoshiarpur, Amritsar, Tarn Taran, Gurdaspur and Pathankot districts would be called to Jalandhar, and those from Ludhiana, Nawanshahr, Rupnagar, Mohali, Patiala, Fatehgarh Sahib and Sangrur would be called to Ludhiana for resolution of their grievances. "The effort is to facilitate maximum number of NRIs to get their issues resolved. An email address nripunjab014@gmail.com has been created to receive the complaints or problems of NRIs well in advance by Dec 15, so that required information or action could be taken and concerned officers would remain available on the occasion." "Participating NRIs to bring their passports/OCI/PIO/NRP cards as their identity proofs," the minister said. “The Punjab government is committed to strengthen the bond with Punjabis living across the globe, besides making them a partner in state's overall development," Tota Singh said.

harassed them on a moving bus of Haryana Roadways in Rohtak Friday. The driver and conductor of the bus have been suspended for failing to control the situation, not informing the police and not helping the girls in distress. The sisters had thrashed the youths with a belt even after being assaulted. No passenger in the bus came to the rescue of the girls as they were teased and assaulted. The matter came to light after the video recorded on the woman's mobile phone was flashed on television. The scenes were shown repeatedly on all leading television news channels. “We fought the men all alone. No one came forward to help us when they hit us and pushed us out of the bus," said Aarti. The girls' father alleged that police officials were mounting pressure on them to strike a compromise with the accused. The victims alleged that the youths first blew kisses at them and then threw slips with their mobile phone

Threat from sea on rise, Navy prepared: Navy chief New Delhi (IANS): Threats from the sea have increased, but the Indian Navy is prepared, Navy chief Admiral R.K. Dhowan said Wednesday. At a press conference on the eve of the 43rd Navy Day, the navy chief said terror threat from the sea was a real challenge to be dealt with. "It is a very, very serious situation which we have taken serious note of," Dhowan said, responding to a question on the attempted hijack of Pakistani ship PNS Zulfiqar. Asked if the navy takes into account the possibility that there might be a jihadi group on board when it encounters a Pakistani ship, he said: "We are taking that aspect into account." On a lighter note, he said: "Out at sea, when officers on watch report to the captain that we have a warship from another navy, the captain would tell the officer to wish him (the other warship) good morning because he is in international waters and so are you." "Well, in this changed environment, we have to rethink. We may not wish him good morning and actually carry out a surveillance and figure out who he is," he said. According to reports, Al Qaeda militants
tried to hijack a Pakistan Navy frigate earlier this month and use it to target US Navy vessels on anti-terrorism patrol in the northwestern Indian Ocean. Dhowan, however, said this increases the threat perception for the navy. "Terror threat is a real challenge," he said, adding, "challenges have gone up, there are pirates, floating armouries". On the port infrastructure built by China in neighbouring countries, Dhowan said it was being monitored closely. "It is an aspect we are monitoring very, very closely. It has certain implications, and we are keeping an eye on all aspects," he said. On the presence of Chinese warships and submarines in the Indian Ocean, the navy chief said: "China has been operating in the Indian Ocean as it is their trade route. They have occasionally deployed submarines, it is part of securing their maritime assets." On a dialogue between the Indian and Chinese navies, he said it will happen at an "appropriate time". The navy chief said India was prepared for any operation. "We are fully prepared for Blue Water tasks, carrying out and improving of coastal
security and conducting regular naval exer- maintenance, and recruiting human cises with the Indian Coast Guard off nine resource," he said. coastal states and union territories," he said. About the accident in submarine Sindhurakshak, he said human error led to the sinking of the vessel. "In case of a submarine, aspects related to procedures need to be followed very strictly. There could have been a mistake while handling of equipment or weapons," Dhowan said. UP launches exclusive website to attract NRI investment Lucknow (IANS): In a bid to woo nonresident Indians (NRIs) from Uttar Pradesh to invest in the state, the state government launched a website for them late Sunday, officials said. The exclusive website aims to be a single window gateway for the NRIs native to UP and now settled overseas, an official told IANS. Claiming that the website received a large number of hits and queries within hours of its launch, Mohammad Wali Abbas, head of the information and technology cell of the NRI department in Udyog Bandhu, an autonomous government body dealing with investment,
said that the website would "showcase to the world that UP (Uttar Pradesh) was pretty serious about investment, specially from the NRIs". Investment apart, the website, officials said would also encourage the emotional bonding of NRIs with their mother land, ensure the general welfare of NRIs and in case of emergencies monitor special problems faced by them and coordinate with the Government of India. The NRI department would also offer to help in the coordination of technical, managerial and financial resources of the NRIs from UP.

A 24x7 call centre (Migrant Resource Centre) where NRIs can log complaints will be established and the UP government is also planning to felicitate outstanding performers from among the NRIs as per their approach and investment for the state. Government officials said that the state would also celebrate "UP NRI Day" every year, beginning Jan 17 next year. Madhukar Jaitley, advisor to the NRI department told IANS that the website was "by far the most serious and well meaning effort by the state government to bond with the NRIs".

Complaint filed against Sadhvi Niranjan Jyoti New Delhi (IANS): A complaint was filed Wednesday against union Minister Sadhvi Niranjan Jyoti for making hate remarks against a community during a poll rally here. The complaint was filed by advocate Rajeev Kumar Bhola in west Delhi's Tilak Nagar police station. Bhola told IANS that he requested police to arrest the minister of state for food processing indus-
tries. Sadhvi Jyoti is in the eye of a storm for her use of foul language two days ago at the Bharatiya Janata Party rally, where she had reportedly asked the voters to "decide if you want a government in Delhi to be led by children of Lord Ram or illegitimate children". "Sadhvi Niranjan Jyoti is punishable under Sections 153A (hurting sentiments of a section) and 500 (defamation) of
the Indian Penal Code for making false and malicious imputations for prompting enmity between Hindu and nonHindu communities, outraging the religious feeling of non-Hindu community," said the complaint, a copy of which is in possession of IANS. "Her grossly offensive speech has caused grave insult to the citizens and caused prejudice to the national integration," the complaint said.
Supreme Court sets up social justice bench
New Delhi (IANS): In a bid to address issues of social justice involving vulnerable sections of the society, the Supreme Court will now have a 'Social Justice' bench that would exclusively hear such matters once a week. Chief Justice H.L. Dattu constituted the special bench comprising Justice Madan B. Lokur and Justice Uday Umesh Lalit who will sit once a week every Friday from Dec 12. Not only pending cases but fresh matters will also
be dealt with by the special bench. Chief Justice Dattu constituted the bench so that social causes are given a specialised approach for their early disposal and people "realise the fruits of the rights provided to them by the constitutional text". The bench - rooted in the promise of social justice in the preamble of the constitution - will deal with cases highlighting social issues. The cases would have a wide spectrum, including
the issue of release of surplus foodgrain for people living in drought-affected areas, taking steps to prevent untimely death of women and children for want of nutritious food, public distribution system, hygienic mid-day meal and night shelters. The bench will also address issues of providing medical facilities to all citizens irrespective of their economic condition, hygienic drinking water, safe and secured living conditions for women forced into prostitution.

Hearing of Indian ashram sex abuse cases in Australia
Sydney (IANS): The Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to Child Sexual Abuse in Australia held a public hearing Tuesday to inquire into the Satyananda Yoga Ashram sex abuse cases. Many such cases were reported from the Satyananda Yoga Ashram located on Mangrove Mountain, New South Wales in the 1970s and 1980s, Sydney Morning
Herald reported. The opening day of the probe into the cases and its former leader Swami Akhandananda Saraswati, heard 11 victims who were abused while living in the ashram in the 1970s and 1980s. Counsel Peggy Dwyer told the commission that sexual activity was discouraged in the ashram but despite this, its founder Satyananda
Saraswati and his disciple Akhandananda molested teenaged girls. The commission heard that Akhandananda began a sexual relationship with a 16-year-old girl Shishy after he moved to Australia from India in 1974. Over 25 witnesses are expected to give evidence over a two-week period. Satyananda Yoga Ashram, which changed
its name to Mangrove Yoga Ashram in 2012, and Swami Akhandananda Saraswati were later charged with over 35 sex offences against four teenaged girls. Akhandananda was found guilty on lesser charges of indecency and was jailed in 1989 but his conviction was overturned six years before his death in 1997.
Indian workers accuse Saudi company of not paying salaries
Riyadh (IANS): A group of Indian workers in Saudi Arabia have accused a local company of not paying their salaries for six months and appealed for help so that they can come back home, media reported. "We are 20 Indian employees stranded here at Bader H. Al-Hussaini & Sons in Jubail (in Eastern Province). The company has not given us our salaries, food, water or any means of support for the past six months," the Arab News quoted a worker as saying Monday. Bader Al-Hussaini, the chief executive officer and owner of the company, however, told the Arab News that he owes the
workers four months' salaries. "We have just paid them one salary this morning. We will pay them two salaries this week and the fourth salary as soon as we receive a check for about 600,000 Saudi riyals (about $160,000) from an authority in Jubail for which we have done work," the chief executive officer said. When the newspaper told him that he would be quoted in Arab News, he said: "Ignore what I have just said, everything at the company is all right. You can't publish this information." The workers, however, have disputed AlHussaini's claim. When
contacted again Monday afternoon, the workers said they had not received any money from the company. "We've been at the company since this morning. Now it's the end of the day. We were not even informed that we would be paid, which means there was no intention to pay us," a worker said. "We are helpless and cannot support ourselves and our families. We want to go back to India but they do not want to send us back. Please help us and highlight our case in the media as soon as possible," he added. The workers also said that one of their col-
leagues died five months ago but the company did not send his body home. Al-Hussaini, in response, said he had attempted to contact the man's family but had not received any response. The workers disputed the company owner's claim saying they could provide contact details for the man's family if the chief executive officer was serious about sending the body back to India. They said the body is being kept at King Fahd Hospital in Al-Ahsa. Under the country's existing labour law, companies failing to pay the salaries on time are blacklisted.

Let’s talk. You’ve probably seen us on the news recently regarding Burnaby Mountain and our Trans Mountain Pipeline Expansion Project.
SOME FACTS
I think it would be good for us to talk.
The Trans Mountain Pipeline has been operating between Edmonton, AB and Burnaby, BC
We’ve talked a lot with communities about their concerns and in Burnaby the feedback was to look into routing the pipeline through Burnaby Mountain, rather than through their streets and neighbourhood.
since 1953. In April 2012, we proposed to expand the pipeline by building a second pipeline
Our work on the mountain over the past few weeks has been a part of that feasibility study. Though we estimate it will cost Kinder Morgan $40 million more than the original route through residential streets, we want to acknowledge the best interests of the residents of Burnaby.
alongside the original. Our goal for the entire route has been to build adjacent to the existing pipeline within our existing right-of-way. However, sometimes there are good reasons to look at other options, such as safety

concerns, residential or industrial development that has expanded since the original pipeline was built, or environmental considerations.
Unfortunately, demonstrators chose to block our crews from doing their work and, in order to maintain the safety of our employees, contractors and the public, we were forced to pursue legal action to secure our worksite. Freedom of speech is fundamental to our way of life. Equally so is the Canadian right to go to work and conduct business safely. We have always believed these two principles can coexist if we all communicate.
We’ve been engaging with Aboriginal groups, Landowners, communities and stakeholders since April 2012. We’ve reached agreements with 18 Aboriginal groups, to date. The current work on Burnaby Mountain is to study the proposed route through Burnaby Mountain. Our application is before the National Energy

We have conducted many workshops and open houses, met with thousands of people and continue to respond to questions daily. The feedback we have received to date has made our project better and has resulted in important changes to our route.

On behalf of all the people who work on the pipeline and project, I truly hope we can keep talking throughout the process. Your input is important to us. Punjab's traditional craft inscribed on Unesco list
New Delhi (IANS): The traditional brass and copper craft of utensil making from Punjab has been inscribed on Unesco's 2014 Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity, an official statement said Tuesday. This utensil making among the thathera of of Jandiala Guru community is the 11th element which has been inscribed in the list. "This craft constitutes the traditional techniques of manufacturing brass and copper utensils in Punjab," said an statement from the culture ministry. "The craft utensils are of both utilitarian and ritualistic value made of copper, brass and 'kansa', an alloy of copper, zinc and tin," it added. This crafting process is carried out by a specific group of craftspeople,
Court directs Punjab to cremate sect leader Ashutosh's body
Chandigarh (IANS): The controversy over the death of sect guru Ashutosh is likely to get over with the Punjab and Haryana High Court Monday directing the Punjab government to perform his last rites within 15 days. Ashutosh, who headed the Divya Jyoti Jagriti Sansthan (DJJS) sect with its headquarters at Nurmahal near Jalandhar, was declared "clinically dead" by doctors Jan 29 this year. However, the sect management kept his body in a deep freezer claiming that the sect leader had gone into "samadhi" (deep meditation). No one was allowed to take the body for examination nor any last rites were performed. The matter was taken to the high court by Dalip Kumar Jha, who claimed to be son of Ashutosh alias Mahesh Kumar Jha, April this year, saying that he be given the mortal remains of his father. Another petitioner, Puran Singh, who claimed to be the sect leader's former driver, had also approached the high court, seeking a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe into the death of Ashutosh. In its order, the court directed that a committee be constituted under the district magistrate to work out the performing of last rites of the sect leader. The Punjab director general of police (DGP) and chief secretary were asked by the high court to monitor the situation. The sect has properties and assets running into hundreds of crores and there are reports that the mystery of Ashutosh's death is related to the control of these properties.
the Thatheras, who have a unique ethnic and historical identity with an oral tradition that underpin their skill. The crafts colony was established during the reign of Maharaja Ranjit Singh, the 19th century Sikh monarch, who encouraged skilled metal crafters from Kashmir to settle in the heart of his kingdom in the Punjab. Jandiala Guru became an area of repute due to the skill of the thatheras. "The inscription of the element on the representative list will tangibly contribute to the visibility of the intangible cultural heritage in general by lending recognition to the skill of the thatheras that have been orally transmitted for generations upon generations so far," said the statement. "Its inscription could contribute to encourage dialogues with other com-
munities worldwide that practice traditional metal craftsmanship to manufacture handcrafted products that
are both useful and beautiful," it added.

Punjab police top brass found 'missing' as Sukhbir Badal takes attendance Chandigarh (IANS): This was one call of duty that the top brass of Punjab Police failed miserably to meet with. Senior police officers were running for cover Tuesday after they were caught red-handed by Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal for not reaching their respective offices on time. Majority of the officers arriving late at office were shocked to see Badal, who stationed himself on a chair at the entry porch of the high-security Punjab Police headquarters in Chandigarh's upscale Sector 9. Badal, who is also the state's home minister, reached the police headquarters Tuesday morning at 9.10 am for his surprise check. Out of the 50 senior Indian Police Service (IPS) officers who have their offices in the building, a majority were found missing. "Sukhbir Singh Badal conducted a surprise check at the Punjab Police headquarters today morning during the course of which a majority of senior police officers were found missing from duty," Badal's media adviser Jangveer Singh told IANS. "Immediately after alighting from his vehicle, the Deputy CM directed officials accompanying him to seize the entry register as well as close all the entry points to the building," he
said. As per the entry register, only Additional Director General of Police, Intelligence Hardeep Dhillon was in the building. "However during a check subsequently, it was found that six officers had come on time to the office. Around 50 senior police officers have their offices in the police secretariat here," he said. Badal remained at the entry of the building for nearly two hours as officers sheepishly walked in only to face questions for being late, and even reprimands from him.
As officers trickled into the police headquarters one by one, they were questioned by Badal who asked them: "Were you attending a party last night? Were you playing golf? Why are you late?" "The first officer to come to office after the Deputy CM reached the headquarters was Deputy Inspector General of Police Khubi Ram who reported on duty at 9.16 am. "Following this a number of officers including ADGP Traffic R P Singh (9.23 am), IGP Counter Intelligence Gaurav Yadav (9.25 am), AIG Dilbagh Singh (9.26 am), IG Provisioning
Praveen Sinha (9.28 am), AIG Ashish Chaudhary (9.40 am), AIG K.B. Singh (9.51 am), SP Ranvir Singh (9.58 am), AIG Swarn Singh (10 am), AIG Baljot Rathore (10 am), ADGP C.S.R. Redddy (10.05 am) and IG I.V.C. Tejinder Pal Singh (10.15 am) reported to duty," a spokesman said here. Three senior officers, Inspector Generals of Police (IGP) Arpit Shukla and Balbir Bawa and AIG Inderbir Singh, who tried to play smart by entering the police headquarter building from the rear entrance, which is used by police staff, were summoned by Badal. These officers were asked to leave the building from the rear entrance and return from the front entrance, and then given a dressing down by Badal for this action. "This is unbecoming of senior police officers," Badal told the errant officers. Punjab Director General of Police Sumedh Singh Saini, who too was not present in the building when Badal came, was conducting an official meeting with representatives of the Nurmahal sect at his residence when the surprise check took place. He later joined Badal at the building's entry point. ADGP Law and Order Dinkar Gupta also arrived shortly, the spokesman said.
All officers arriving late were asked to wait in a room on the ground floor. Later, Badal addressed them and told them that "such lackadaisical attitude about office timings was unacceptable". He also warned them that strict disciplinary action would be taken against anyone found arriving late to office in future. Badal also directed the DGP to seek an explanation from all those who arrived late to office. Taking a serious note of the fact that some senior police officers did not report to work even till 11 a.m., Badal directed the home secretary to conduct an inquiry within 48 hours to ascertain why these police officers had played truant despite not taking leave from office. Senior officers who failed to report to work included DGP Human Resource Development S.K. Sharma, ADGP Policy and Rules Mohammad Mustafa, IG Traffic R.P.S. Brar, IG Community Policing Anita Punj, IG Information Technology K.J.S. Pannu, IG Modernisation Shashi Prabha, DIG Ananya Gautam and DIG Nilabh Kishore, besides six SPs and AIGs. Badal had, last month, gone to a police station in adjoining Mohali town in a private vehicle and found police officials missing there too. He had suspended four police officials.

Will again take up Iraq hostages issue with centre: Badal Chandigarh (IANS): Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal Saturday said his state will again take up with the central government the issue of safe and prompt release of 39 Punjabis trapped in Iraq. Interacting with the media in Lambi assembly segment
in Muktsar district, Badal said the state government, in the last few months, has been consistently taking up this matter with the external affairs ministry. Badal's statement came following reports that the 39 Punjabis were killed by
Islamic State (IS) terrorists in Iraq. He said he has asked union Food Processing Minister Harsimrat Kaur Badal - who is also his daughter-in-law - and other Akali Dal parliamentarians to pursue this matter with the
central government. "We are extremely worried for the sons of the soil trapped in Mosul city of Iraq and no stone was being left unturned for ensuring their safe return to their motherland," Badal said. He said he was in regular touch with External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj and the centre's special envoy for Iraq in this regard. Over 700 men from Punjab
were stuck in Iraq in June this year. While many have returned, the fate of these 39 men has been unknown after they were taken hostage. The distraught families of the hostages have been pleading with the central and Punjab governments to get the men released. Swaraj Friday told parliament that efforts were on to get the hostages released.

Bharti Foundation, the philanthropic arm of telecom giant Bharti Enterprises, has adopted Ludhiana district and committed an investment of Rs.100 crore over the next three years for constructing toilets in rural households lacking such facilities. The toilets will be built in 915 villages across the district. A spokesperson for Bharti Foundation said that as per the MoU, Sulabh, a social service organisation, will con-
struct 12,000 toilets in households lacking basic sanitation facilities across Ludhiana district in the first phase. Under the "Satya Bharti Abhiyan", the foundation will also invest in improving sanitation facilities in government schools in rural Ludhiana by building new toilets for girls, where no such facilities exist, the spokesperson said. Sulabh International is the largest non-profit organization in India. "As per the MoU, Sulabh will also conduct a survey of the target villages to identify beneficiaries, undertake construction of individual household toilets and carry out information education campaigns over the next 12 months," the spokesperson said.

Sindhu retains Macau Open title
Macau (IANS): Indian shuttler P.V. Sindhu successfully defended her Macau Open Grand Prix Gold women's singles title, beating South Korean Kim Hyo Min in straight games at the Tap Seac Multisport Pavilion here Sunday. Two-time World Championships bronze medallist Sindhu registered a comprehensive 21-12, 21-17 victory in 45 minutes in the final of the $120,000 event. Playing against the World No.91 Kim for the first time, the Indian World No.11 won the first game with ease. After a brief tussle till

Veteran comedian Deven Verma dead
DEVEN Verma, Bollywood's veteran comedian known for spreading laughter with his endearing performances in films like "Angoor" and "Khatta Meetha", died Tuesday morning, leaving behind a void hard to fill. Deven was 77. He died Tuesday following a heart attack and kidney failure. He breathed his last around 2 a.m. at his home in Pune, the city of his birth from where he graduated in politics and sociology before joining the film industry. He is survived by his wife Rupa Ganguly, the younger daughter of the legendary actor Ashok Kumar. Deven's last rites were held at the Yerawada crematorium. His colleagues expressed their grief over his demise and also thanked him for making their childhood memo-
rable. "Deven Verma - incredible actor, comic excellence second to none. Thank you for making my childhood so memorable. Will miss you sir - RIP," actor Riteish Deshmukh tweeted. Apart from a string of actors and filmmakers, Prime Minister Narendra Modi also condoled his death, saying he was "admired by film lovers". Ever since the news of his death spread, condolences kept pouring in. “RIP Deven Verma saheb... the reason for many a smiles through childhood and more,” tweeted singer Mohit Chauhan. Deven was also seen in comedy film “Andaz Apna Apna” as actor Aamir Khan's father. Aamir remembered his co-star for his exuberance. “He was a wonderful co-star. I remember on the
sets of 'Andaz Apna Apna' he always had a joke on his lips and kept us all in high spirits,” Aamir said. Actress Anushka Sharma talked about his one-liners from Rajkumar Santoshi's film. “RIP Deven Verma...How much I love his scene in 'Andaz Apna Apna' "Main betiyon ko chudiyaan pehnaoonga...Aap ma ko,” Anushka tweeted. Filmmaker Karan Johar applauded his comic timing. “ # R I P D e v e n Ve r m a ...your straight-faced impeccable comic timing still doesn't have a successor,” Johar tweeted. Filmmaker B.R. Chopra's discovery, Deven made a transition from theatre to films with 1961 partition drama "Dharmputra". However, the actor known for his light-hearted roles started his stint with comedy with "Gumraah", a film that starred Ashok Kumar in the lead role. After that the actor bagged roles in films like "Anupama", "Khamoshi", but it was his performance in "Chori Mera Kaam" that won him his first Filmfare Award. Then there was another masterpiece "Angoor", in which he teamed up with Sanjeev Kumar. The actor, known for his jolly nature and rib tickling gigs, won
three Filmfare Awards in the best comedian category and one of them was for "Angoor". In the latter part of his life, Deven turned to character roles with films like "Judaai", "Dil To Paagal
Hai", and "Kora Kagaz". He last featured in "Calcutta Mail" in 2003. In his long career, the actor also produced and directed movies such as "Besharam" and “Dana Paani”.
He tried his hands in television too and entertained telly audience through "Gubbare", "Zabaan Sambhal Ke" and "Mamla Gadbad Hai". (IANS)

ChaiTime 5 Reasons why every woman should have her own will (NC) Making a will is a sensible and worthwhile task that everybody, whatever their age or financial status, should do. However there are some special reasons why women should make a will of their own:

• Women usually live longer than their husbands, so it's a good idea for each of you to have your own will. • Planning for children or other dependants is something that women usually want to pay special attention to. • Taxes and legal concerns (especially if there was a previous marriage or other dependants) should be looked at. HOW TO PLAY: Digits 1 through 9 will appear once in each zone - one zone is an outlined 3x3 grid within the larger puzzle grid. There are nine zones in the puzzle. Do not enter a digit into a box if it already appears elsewhere in the same zone, row across or column down the entire puzzle. • Many women will want to make special arrangements for the distribution of family heirlooms, jewellery, items of historical or sentimental value, and their own property. • Continuing the support for charities and organizations that
many women supported during their lifetimes may be a consideration. A will lets you decide With a properly prepared will, you can ensure that: • Property will be distributed exactly as you would have wished; • You can name your own executor to administer your estate; • Guardians of children will be named in the way you want; • Personal items such as jewellery and antiques will be handled the way you intend; • Individuals, your church, health charities and organizations like Amnesty International will receive the support you had always intended for them. Common questions include: How do I start? If you do not have a will, now is the time to prepare one. While a
will does not need to be a complicated document, it is always advisable to contact a lawyer or trust company to help you. The peace of mind which comes from ensuring there are no small mistakes or omissions which could cause difficulties for your heirs is well worth the costs of such services. Can I change my will? Yes, you can always change your will, either completely or by means of a codicil, which is a document that adds to or alters your existing will. Actors condemn slapping incident
ACTORS Varun Dhawan and Huma Qureshi have condemned the slapping incident involving Gauahar Khan. In their opinion, the man, who slapped her, should be punished. Varun and Huma, who were present at the trailer launch of their film "Badlapur", too were asked to share their reaction. Varun said: "It's terrible. No one will

support something like that. If I was there I would have definitely picked up the hammer against that guy and it's a very cowardly act and that man should be punished." Huma termed it "a serious offence". "I think it's a very serious issue, it's about safety of women and how we look at them. Anybody who disrespects them or promotes any kind of violence against women should be punished. As a society we should condemn it,” Huma said. Meanwhile, several other Bollywood celebrities like Farhan Akhtar, Sushmita Sen and Alia Bhatt have also come out in support of Gauahar. (IANS)

New 2015 Ford F150 continues the legend Ford introduces the all-new Ford F-150, the reinvention of America’s favorite truck. Ford say the new icon truck is the toughest, smartest and most capable F-150 ever – setting the standard for the future of trucks. In designing the backbone of the F-150, Ford engi-
neers improved the truck’s signature fully boxed ladder frame. It is all-new with more high-strength steel than ever – making it stronger and lighter. High-strength, military-grade, aluminum alloys – already used in aerospace, commercial transportation, energy and many other
rugged industries – are used throughout the F-150 body for the first time, improving dent and ding resistance and also saving weight. Overall, up to 700 pounds of weight have been saved, helping the F-150 tow more, haul more, accelerate quicker and stop shorter, and contributing to
efficiency. Several groundbreaking new productivity features debut in the all-new F-150, including many class-exclusives. They include: 360degree camera view, using exterior cameras to create a bird’s-eye view of the truck to help the driver park, maneuver in tight spots and navigate down narrow roads and trails. Also new is a Remote tailgate feature, allowing for the tailgate to be locked, unlocked and released with the key fob – eliminating manual locking and increasing convenience and security. In addition there the tailgate is also damped, dropping down, hands-free, to a flat position when opened, High-wattage power outlets (400 watts, 110 volts) in the cab, allowing drivers to easily charge corded tools, battery chargers or mobile devices on-site or while driving, LED spotlights on side view mirrors, which provide powerful, durable and bright lighting around the truck exterior, Latest EcoBoost® technology in an all-new, even more efficient 2.7-liter EcoBoost engine that features extremely high output and lightweight design, Nextgeneration tailgate step, which is now fully integrated inside the tailgate and virtually invisible when not in use A range of four engines provides more power to meet almost any customer need. A new 2.7-liter EcoBoost with standard Auto Start-Stop and a 3.5-liter V6
engine with twin independent variable camshaft timing join the proven 3.5-liter EcoBoost and 5.0-liter Ti-VCT V8. The 2.7-liter EcoBoost engine features a lightweight, compact design to deliver the same power as some mid-range V8s. Auto Start-Stop technology helps save fuel. Unlike start-stop solutions in other
ing their occupational and recreational needs. The exterior is characterized by a new shape that suggests capability, with a wider Built Ford Tough stance, prominent wheel arches and chiseled grille. Comfort, utility and refinement define the truck’s interior. Ergonomically optimized seating for the front
vehicles, this technology – specially tuned for truck customers – shuts off the engine to save fuel when the vehicle is stopped, except when towing or in four-wheel drive. The engine restarts in milliseconds when the brake is released. Ford F-150 trucks equipped with EcoBoost engines also will benefit from standard Active Grille Shutters. Active Grille Shutters stay open when extra engine cooling is needed, such as during lowspeed stop-and-go driving or while working in hot weather. They automatically close to reduce aerodynamic drag at cruising speed. Both the exterior and interior design of Ford F-150 reflect decades of listening to customers and understand-
row positions enhances comfort, while extending legroom for rear passengers. Buttons and controls are optimized so they can be operated while wearing work gloves. Storage options include laptop stowage in the center console, as well as quick storage solutions The all-new Ford F-150 will continue the tradition of offering the broadest selection of trim levels in the fullsize pickup segment. Five primary trims are available: XL, XLT, Lariat, Platinum and King Ranch. Chrome appearance packages are available with XL, XLT, Lariat and King Ranch. Prevent a Christmas Tree Fire
Christmas trees may be bright and merry, but they can pose a fire hazard if you're not careful. The National Fire Protection Association offers these suggestions to help prevent holiday tree fires: Choose an artificial tree that's labeled fire-retardant. If opting for a live tree, select one with needles that are green and fresh and do not fall off easily. Get rid of the live tree as soon as it dries out. Cut
an inch from the base of the tree before placing it in the stand, and make sure the stand contains water. Trees should be placed at least 3 feet away from any
source of heat, such as radiators, candles, fireplaces, heating vents or lights. Never light a tree with candles. Choose lights certified by an independent testing lab, and replace any strands with broken or loose bulbs. Don't connect too many strands together. Turn off Christmas lights when you aren't at home and when you go to bed.

True sport performance drivers will be delighted to find like the GLI can be had with the six- speed manual transmission that always works well with powerful four cylinder motors. Other goodies included traction control, stability control, and antilock brakes with electronic brake force distribution. Also, as part of the GLI package is high performance tuned suspension comprising of
front McPherson struts and a rear multi-link setup. The very efficient XDS cross differential system that helps prevent the inside wheel from spinning during cornering is also handy. The GLI cabin features a neat, classy interior. Typically German looking with a finely detailed black dash and low-slung front heated bucket seats with more supportive side bolstering. The dash itself features a really cool flatbottomed multi-function steering wheel and

the new Chrysler 200 is engineered to exceed customer expectations in every category. Two world-class engine choices power the all-new 2015 Chrysler 200 sedan. The proven, award-winning 3.6-litre Pentastar V6 generates a best-in-class 295 horsepower as well as 262 lb.ft. of torque. The 2015 Chrysler 200 offers an available bestin-class all-wheel-drive system, which features a segment-first fully disconnecting rear axle that improves fuel economy by operating in frontwheel-drive when allwheel-drive is not needed. The all-wheel-drive system features a onespeed power transfer unit (PTU) and uniquely disconnects and reconnects the rear axle – automatically and seamlessly – as needed and at any speed. The discon-

Owners of the new Chrysler 200 will appreciate an innovative rotary e-shift dial that replaces the traditional console shifter. The rotary e-shift enables intuitive operation with a direct and confident feel. The convenient, centre-mounted, easy-to-operate system provides total control of the sophisticated nine-speed transmission. This new design allows easy shifting and also yields space for more functional and usable storage in the centre console.
