ENGLAND TALENT PATHWAYS The university partnerships mark a key milestone in Volleyball England’s ambition to provide a pathway that will ultimately develop talented volleyball athletes beyond the junior level. Partnering with universities will provide the opportunity of a dual career of academics and performance volleyball. The introduction of Senior academies has assisted in extending the existing talent pathway providing daily training environments for athletes who have the opportunity to go on to represent England in senior competitions as well as preparing them to play professional volleyball abroad, be that indoor in a club environment or on the beach in European and World tour events.

Volleyball England have been awarded a number of places by the Sport England TASS (Talented Athlete Scholarship Scheme) programme. These awards are specifically given to athletes on the talent pathway in University education who have proven themselves on the performance pathway. The award provides access to; strength and conditioning, physiotherapy, a medical scheme, performance lifestyle support (managing sporting ambition alongside achieving academically) and financial help towards training and competing with the England Young Seniors. Our 5 Senior Academies have all been awarded

the status of TASS Accredited Centre (TAC) meaning they have been able to demonstrate and evidence a high level in all the services mentioned, including high quality, qualified staff. Volleyball England have awarded an accreditation to each Senior Academy according to the level of the volleyball programme they offer. The performance programme criteria, which has four levels of Gold, Silver, Bronze & Green, covers a number of areas including; coaching, facilities and training, individual athlete support, scholarships and overall sport strategy. 2
