What’s Chippewa Valley Burger Week? It’s a little something we cooked up (get it?) with the help of the Wisconsin Beef Council and a bunch of the Valley’s best burger joints – including all three of the top-rated places in our most recent Best of the Chippewa Valley Poll.

The inaugural Burger Week runs March 17-26 and includes 19 restaurants from around the Valley, which will be offering tried-and-true favorites as well as brand-new, exclusive burger concoctions at limited-time special prices. This 10-day celebration of America’s favorite hand-held, juicy, and delicious sandwich is sure to whet ever burger lover’s appetite.

Furthermore, there’s evidence the modern hamburger was invented right here in Wisconsin: Folks in the city of Seymour say “Hamburger” Charlie Nagreen was having trouble selling meatballs at a fair back in 1885, so he smashed them between slices of bread so customers could take their meal on the go. Thus the hamburger was born.

WHO DOESN’T LOVE A GOOD BURGER?

And, let’s be honest, who doesn’t love a good burger, especially around here? In fact, there’s a pretty good case to be made that the hamburger should be Wisconsin’s state sandwich: The best burgers come topped with cheese — or at least with a side of curds – and Wisconsin reins

Like any iconic dish, the hamburger has innumerable variations, as you’ll see in the following pages. During Burger Week, these eateries will boast burgers smothered in cheese or glazed in whiskey. Burgers topped with bacon or mac and cheese. Angus burgers, smash burgers, and cute little burger sliders. Whichever burgers you try – and we hope you try more than one –they’re sure to be some of the tastiest you’ve ever had. So tuck in those napkins and dig in!
