The Grants Prospectus vision Through the VCS grants prospectus we want to take a preventative approach to support disadvantaged people, both those who are unable to withstand the effects of pressures and stresses and those who are likely to reach a point where they can no longer withstand them. Our aim is to build resilience for individuals, families, neighbourhoods and communities of interest. We want to build on the strengths in the city and to support projects to provide the material and emotional framework for individuals and groups to feel fully part of our communities.

Public Services (Social Value) Act 2012 requires all public bodies to consider how contracted services might improve the social, economic and environmental wellbeing of the area.

Aim 2. To promote the local economy by supporting micro, small and medium sized enterprises and the voluntary and community sector in Bristol to thrive > 25% target (Objective 2)

Plan to include the need for positive action of organisations led by or for equalities groups, and the development of small and micro organisations and businesses.

Objective 3. Social Value will be 10% of quality scores.

3) Social Value and contracts Economic – contributions to the local economy. Circulating funds and bringing funds in to the area – a wider contribution to skills, tackling worklessness and maintaining employment. Example: increasing local employment. Voscur: use of local caterers/venues; events apprentice. Social – contributions to a vibrant and healthy community. Community-based actions such as working with people the council finds harder to reach. Example: increased independence. Voscur: volunteer training/peer support. Environmental – protecting, promoting and enhancing the local environment. Example: reducing local congestion/air pollution.
