Agenda Item 26 MEETING OF DÚN LAOGHAIRE AREA COMMITTEE 1st September 2014 UPGRADE OF ROCHESTOWN AVENUE

Question:

Councillor M. Merrigan

“To ask the Chief Executive what plans, if any, are envisaged for the upgrade of Rochestown Avenue from Baker’s Corner to the junction of Johnstown Road to provide for new pavements, cycle lanes and a Quality Bus Corridor along this stretch of the roadway and whether funding is in place for such an improvement scheme and, if so, what is the timeframe for the completion of such works?”

Reply: “A preliminary design has been prepared for the improvement of Rochestown Avenue to facilitate a QBC from Blackrock to Cherrywood. However the NTA has indefinitely suspended funding for QBC schemes and no other source of funding is available. The preliminary design will be used for development control purposes and it may prove possible to secure local improvements through the planning process.” Contact: Jim Hayes, Senior Engineer, Parking, Transportation & Water Services Dept.
