Agenda Item 47 MEETING OF DÚN LAOGHAIRE-RATHDOWN COUNTY COUNCIL 8TH SEPTEMBER 2014 ON-LINE FACILITY FOR ASSOCIATIONS THROUGHOUT THE COUNTY Motion:
Councillor M. Merrigan
“That this Council requests the Chief Executive to establish an on-line facility whereby the many Residents’, Tenants’ and Community Associations throughout the County can voluntarily submit details on their organisations, activities, meetings, areas represented and contact information for inclusion on a publicly accessible register of such bodies and that the work of these associations should be officially recognised by the County Council through such registration and the establishment of a biannual consultative forum for representatives of such bodies to discuss matters of policy and planning impacting on local communities.” Report: “A new framework for public engagement and participation, to be called “The Public Participation Network (PPN)” will be developed within each local authority area to enable the public to take an active formal role in the policy making and oversight activities of the Local Authority’s areas of responsibility. The PPN, which is being commenced under Section 46 of the Local Government Reform Act 2014, will be the main link through which the local authority connects with the community, voluntary and environmental sectors without prejudice to other consultation processes. The Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown Public Participation network is in the process of being established in the county. As part of the work plan of the DLR PPN, it may be possible to develop a web based tool for community & Voluntary organisations to publicly register their contact details similar to the Dublin Community Maps Project. http://www.dublin.ie/maps/.”
