Grand voyaGes for all seasons We strive to provide the most trailblazing new destinations to be found anywhere in the cruise calendar, but we make it a point to also return to all those most beloved ports-of-call that cultural passengers demand, such as the Renaissance treasures of Rome, Urbino and Venice in Italy, or the ancient Roman secrets of the Adriatic and Tyrrhenian Seas, including the tragic remains of Pompeii and Herculaneum. Much of Mediterranean life has always revolved around its magnificent islands, which is why our itineraries across the
historic “Middle Sea” offer visits to Malta, Sicily, Santorini and Crete, to name just a handful of the destinations available. Our voyages and specialised in-depth land tours to Athens and ancient Greece ensure you get to see all the key sights, such as mythological Delphi or Olympia, birthplace of the Olympics, while our expert guides and lecturers help bring to life this “Golden Age” of Western civilisation. The size of Aegean Odyssey means you are able to sail as close as possible to some of the most dramatic and beautiful natural landmarks in the world without even having to step ashore, from the magnificence of Kotor Bay to exquisite
Cinque Terre and the glamourous Côte d'Azur, playground of the glitterati. Cruising the great rivers of Spain, France and England, experience the serene bucolic beauty of the countryside on your way to exciting excursions in some of Europe’s most vibrant cities, including Seville, Bordeaux, London and Paris.

The Black Sea has been off the cruise map for some years, but Voyages to Antiquity is delighted to be among the first cruise operators to return to this magnificent and formerly very popular region. Aegean Odyssey will be making stops at the Bulgarian resort of Varna, famed for the priceless 6,000-yearold “Gold of Varna” discovered in a nearby necropolis; at the Romanian city of Constanza, with a rich and cosmopolitan history of its own; and at Odessa, where splendid 19th century architecture and the Potemkin Steps, immortalised in the film “The Battleship Potemkin”, await discovery.
This year Aegean Odyssey enters the waters of the Baltic for the first time on a magnificent new cruise featuring an incredible two-night stay in Saint Petersburg, home to the vast Hermitage Museum, inside the breathtaking Winter Palace. Spend a full day in the Danish capital of Copenhagen, a place of lavish royal residences and historic castles, followed by the architectural gems of Helsinki and one of Europe’s best preserved medieval districts, in the Swedish capital of Stockholm. Then cruise to Estonia and Germany, where there’s the chance to visit the lively capital of Berlin.
Returning to the mountain lakes and stunning fjords of Norway in 2019, Aegean Odyssey makes a maiden call in Denmark at its capital, Copenhagen, and the medieval city of Randers, as well as the Viking heritage of Norway’s capital, Oslo. The volcanic scenery of Iceland has become a firm favourite in our summer schedule, as have the Faroe, Orkney and Shetland Islands. Finally, as part of our maiden cruise to the North Cape of Norway, Aegean Odyssey is set to become fully immersed in the magic of the Arctic Circle, a place where during the summer months the sun never sets, creating a magical light.

Voyages to Antiquity prides itself on the detail and planning of these cruises. Our aim is to offer an insight into the regions you will visit, blending an incredible wealth of culture with scenic beauty as you sail in comfort and enjoy the impeccable service of Aegean Odyssey.
On days at sea you can relax in the sun, dip in the pool, find a shady spot with a good book, or take in a lecture. There is also a daily programme of activities including informal cocktail parties, and during days at sea, quizzes, games and social events.
Voyages to Antiquity places great emphasis on the quality of accommodation ashore. We have selected some of the best 4- and 5-star hotels for your included land stays.
With an average of only 350 passengers, our ship is large enough to cruise great oceans, yet small enough to visit less crowded harbours and sail closer to the coast, enabling you to appreciate the magical views. She also has the ability to navigate upriver allowing us to berth right in the heart of Seville in Spain.
In the evenings, relax to the sounds of our string trio, pianist and vocalist, enjoy dancing before and after dinner, or occasionally some visiting local entertainment. There is no casino and no disco. The officers’ cocktail party is casual and without the usual formalities.
All of our voyages have been meticulously planned by Voyages to Antiquity staff alongside noted experts on the natural world, explorers, archaeologists and historians. Many years of experience tells us that combining the best of cruising with land tours is the ideal way to explore these fascinating sites and get the most value from your chosen itinerary.
See pages 54-61 for details of life on board. If you want to see the world without having to endlessly pack and unpack, then cruising is for you. And, if you dislike the idea of travelling with hordes of people, then Aegean Odyssey is the ship for you.

Open seating dining – wine included with evening meal With our open seating dining policy, you can choose when, where and with whom to dine. While our resort casual dress code means you don’t need to pack so many clothes. Wherever we cruise, we do not think it appropriate to serve dinner without wine. Wines are sourced from Italy, France, Spain or Greece and are included. Other vintages are available at reasonable prices. Then, when it’s time to sleep, you are never far from the creature comforts and tranquillity of your cabin or stateroom. Sweet dreams!
In Europe’s Spring and Autumn, Aegean Odyssey cruises the sparkling waters of the Mediterranean and Aegean Seas, and during the midsummer months heads for more northern waters. We are delighted to offer some new and exciting itineraries to the Baltic Capitals and the Land of the Midnight Sun, plus new ports and countries such as Tarragona in Spain and Copenhagen in Denmark. Grand Voyages – Travel further, save even more Our itineraries are all designed to make combining shorter cruises into one unforgettable trip easy. These extended Grand Voyages not only mean you get to experience more of the world’s greatest wonders, they also represent outstanding value for money.
In Rome, the Excelsior opens onto one of Rome’s prestigious streets, the Via Veneto, and the Altis Avenida in Lisbon is located on Restauradoras Square in the heart of the city. In Athens, the Grande Bretagne is a grand hotel in the finest tradition with views of the floodlit Acropolis from the roof garden. The same view can be seen from the King George, one of Athens’ most prestigious hotels located in the heart of the city. In Seville, the 5-star Grand Melia Colon is a haven of luxury set in the historical and cultural heart of the city, and the Melia Sevilla is in a great location near the Plaza de Espana and all the major sights. For a full description of the hotels we use, please see pages 52, 53. Don’t forget that during your pre- or post-cruise hotel stays, breakfast, sightseeing, transfers and baggage handling are all included. And, when touring outside of Athens, all meals are also included.

Sightseeing excursions and land tours are included in the fare
Find out more about the fascinating places you will visit
Shore excursions are included in virtually every port of call – in the few cases where they are not, it’s because we feel that your time ashore is best spent exploring on your own. As well as giving you a choice of included excursions in certain places, additional visits will be offered at a supplementary cost. Our sightseeing programmes are outstanding but can be strenuous; a reasonable level of fitness is, therefore, required. Our Cruise Guides and on-board Daily Journal will indicate the level of fitness required on any given day.
Central to the Voyages to Antiquity cruise experience are the guest speakers that accompany every departure. They may be academics, broadcasters, journalists, authors, politicians or even generals, but they will all be pre-eminent in their profession and expert in their field.
Individual QuietVox headsets On shore excursions from the ship, the expert guides will share their knowledge with the group using QuietVox. Through your individual headset, these devices allow you to hear the tour leader clearly even at the busiest sites. Voyages to Antiquity was one of the first cruise lines to operate this service. We trust this means that you won’t miss a thing and your visits to these wonderful places will be as memorable and exciting as possible.

Lectures and talks (usually about 45 minutes duration) often focus on history, archaeology, art and mythology, as you might expect, but also on more unusual subjects such as botany and viticulture. Talks are delivered in the Ambassador Lounge with a host of visual aids (music, video and high quality maps) and recorded so passengers can catch up at their leisure if they are not able to attend in person. These lectures are specifically designed to complement shore excursions, not simply repeat or pre-empt the insight presented by VTA’s excellent local guides. Here is a selection of the expert guest speakers you may encounter on your Voyage to Antiquity.

CRUISE THE SUNSHINE OF THE MEDITERRANEAN SPRING ON A VOYAGE COMBINING OUR CLASSICAL
AEGEAN EXPERIENCE WITH THE MAJESTIC BLACK SEA 24-DAY GRAND VOYAGE FROM $11,695 PER PERSON
This magnificent cruise through the seas of southern Europe begins with a four-night land experience in Greece, featuring a two-night hotel stay in Athens including the Parthenon, the monastery of Osios Loukas, Delphi, and Mycenae, once the centre of the ancient Mycenaean civilisation. Cruising from Piraeus, you’ll visit the Acropolis of Lindos and step ashore on sacred Delos, before relaxing on sun-drenched Mykonos. This is followed by tiny Patmos, a significant Christian pilgrimage site where St John is said to have written the Book of Revelation, the island of Skiathos, and the famous Byzantine monasteries, built on the sandstone towers of Meteora. Step ashore on the sacred island of Lemnos, before passing through the Dardanelles Strait to Marmara, the smallest sea in the world. The Bosphorus then leads to the crossroads of the ancient world, the legendary Black Sea, for a night in Odessa, home of the breathtaking Potemkin Steps, the historic Roman port of Varna and the architectural marvels of Constanza.

GENERAL INFORMATION THINGS TO KNOW BEFORE YOU GO TRAVEL DOCUMENTATION AND VISAS
VISAS
All information provided below pertains to Australian and New Zealand citizens only and is valid at the time of printing, April 2018. Specific information for your cruise and land programme will be provided at the time of booking. Please also refer to the applicable government website for any updates to this information. Requirements for other nationalities can be obtained from the consulates of the countries to be visited on the specific cruise and land programme. It is each guest’s own responsibility to ensure that they have the required documentation prior to travel. Failure to produce the required documentation at embarkation may result in denied boarding and any expenses incurred as a result are not the responsibility of Voyages to Antiquity.
At time of printing, no visas are required for Australian and New Zealand passport holders visiting any country featured in this brochure, except as follows. Albania and Russia Group visas are obtained by the ship on arrival in both Sarande and St Petersburg. However, passengers wishing to step ashore and explore St Petersburg independent of our included and optional excursions will need to obtain a full Russian tourist visa prior to travel and at their own cost. At least 90 days prior to departure, we must have the following information relating to each passenger: full name (as it appears on passport), address, nationality, date and place of birth; plus passport number, expiration date and date and place of issue. Guests cannot be included in group visas if this information is not supplied by the required time.
PASSPORTS Full passports are required and must be valid for a minimum of six months after the last day of your holiday. Special Note: Guests on itineraries which include calls to Arab countries and that may have an Israeli visa or entry stamp in their passport are strongly encouraged to obtain a new passport prior to travel. This is simply a recommendation and is not a requirement.
PRIVACY POLICY Voyages to Antiquity requires all guests to provide full passport details, including addresses and next of kin information prior to issuance of final documentation. The personal information provided to the company is only shared as
required by government regulations to the local authorities for the purposes of customs, visas, and immigration clearances. The information may also be shared with certain suppliers of your travel arrangements. It should be understood that when making your booking you agree to your personal information being passed on as described above. You may also receive marketing communications from Voyages to Antiquity unless you indicate otherwise.
SPECIAL NEEDS The cruises and land programmes featured include extensive sightseeing which may involve walking on uneven surfaces, up and down multiple stairs, and require a certain level of fitness and mobility. Some ports on the itineraries may require disembarkation of the ship with the ship’s or local tenders. Please consider these issues carefully prior to booking. There is one cabin specifically adapted for wheelchair use; however guests must bring their own collapsible wheelchair dimensions of which must not exceed 26” wide. Motorised scooters of any kind are not able to be accommodated on board Aegean Odyssey. Guests that need to travel with medical apparatus including wheelchairs, portable CPAP’s, and orthopedic devices must advise Voyages to Antiquity, in writing, at the time of deposit. A doctor’s statement of fitness may be required. All guests need to be self-sufficient and have an able-bodied guest travelling with them to take full responsibility for any assistance that is required. Important Notice: Failure to advise Voyages to Antiquity as required may result in denied boarding and no refunds are provided for such incidents.
HEALTH There is a well equipped medical centre staffed by a doctor and licensed nurse for the benefit of both the guests and the crew. The medical
64
centre is primarily intended to provide acute care for illness and accidents that may occur while on holiday and is not intended to provide long term care for patients with chronic illnesses or as a substitute for regular health care. Charges apply for consultations, prescriptions, and cabin visits. Guests that require regular treatments or testing of any kind during the cruise and land programme must advise Voyages to Antiquity at the time of deposit. Voyages to Antiquity has the right to refuse or revoke passage to anyone who, in its judgment, is in a physical condition that is beyond the care that can be provided or made available.
DIETARY RESTRICTIONS Please advise us at the time of booking of any special dietary restrictions or specific food allergies. Guests with specific food allergies must advise Voyages to Antiquity in writing at the time of deposit, and while all possible is done to meet the requirement(s), the guest is expected to exercise due caution when dining, either on board or during pre-, post-, or full-day excursions. The ship can meet most general requests such as low cholesterol, diabetic, and salt- or fat-free. Lunches on full-day tours can be a picnic lunch provided by Aegean Odyssey or at a local restaurant. On some tours, where lunchtime is in a place offering a wide choice of restaurants, we
have not included lunch and left it up to you (such as in Rome, Florence and Urbino). In places such as Venice and Athens, you may wish to remain in the city at the end of the morning sightseeing rather than return to the ship and in these instances lunch will also be under your own arrangements. Normal cancellation fees will apply should you choose to cancel when advised of these Ports of call changes prior to your travel departure.
