The Expo Axis Commercial Renovation Practical Poject This is the national key projects, the future landmark in Shanghai. In the ECADI during the practice I’m responsible for the Exop Axis commercial elevation renovation , and design 10 m platform of shops and landscape , elEvation transformation mainly aimed at the north square elevation amendments and unit module refined. The purpose of the plan is concise, pure, but do not break again business atmosphere. I do the subtraction in their original basis, and deepen in unit module.

Magic Box March 601 Development of technology makes communication more complex interactions between people. Today's government hopes to rule by the elite living in Philadelphia for recording to a better understanding of the interaction. At the same time, the survey must live in the surveillance. However, excessive surveillance bring people anxiety, at the same time also affected the normal social behavior. So the responsibility of the architect's hand can help the Government to better understand human behavior. On the other hand, they also have to minimize the feeling of being watched, so that residents can live a normal life inside. By recording the parameters for building interactive, we can get a full set of monitoring system. Changes in behavior by people of different spaces, we can record the variability of the building, resulting in a corresponding social activities.

Flexible Structure

Every track will be recorded and be analyzed by computer.

Diversity Space

The statistics reflex the people's activities, and NSA could understand the social and physical interaction by the movement of architecture .

This program is inspired from Le Corbusier's Unite d'Habitation. In order to get the more space for survey residents' social behavior, I aggregate the units and get 2 kinds of coutyards, one is inside and the other one open to the outside. So we can campare the people activity on the different platforms.

No-Stop City March 701

Influence of the Mass Production: “complete interchangeability of parts and simplicity of interlocking.” Higher productivity = controlled division of labor tasks The general and typical constitute the only architectural criteria in the modern metropolis. The volumes are consistently cubic and elemental, and their surfaces are evenly covered with openings, so that rather than being “negatives” on the facades, the windows constitute a uniform pattern that reinforces the buildings generic appearance. Spatial logic of industrial buildings is strictly determined by the plan and applying it to a domestic typology. Commit to a single typical design system - alignment to social democracy

Cornell Tech Campus Bridge March 702 This project presents the new campus between the Roosevelt island and Queens in the New York city. As the bridge to connect two district, it is like a tree ( tree truck starts from the Cornell Tech campus, and branchs to the Queens side.) Merging 3 elements of case study( Facebook campus, Hedmark museum and Tokyo Bay project), The new campus has three layer: Landscape, occoupation and Transportaion.

Carbon TradeX Change March 602

This project is about the Air pollution. It's inspired from the NEST. Assembling some of single Jacks to created a new form with multiple legs. Some of them are columns to support the whole building, some of them are bridges to connect to different parts, and some of them are chimneys for ventilation. The termites construct temperature-controlled environments that include elaborate ventilation and cooling systems, and specialized chambers.

UPenn Campus March 502

The city sprawls before us, a consequence of centuries of deliberate planning as well as anecdotal circumstance--that is, if one could might even call geography, environment and political event anecdote. This semester , I examine a particular phenomenon in contemporary cities which will allow a dialectic to emerge between a purely planned sub-city—a city within a city— and its larger, existing and often ungraspable urban entity, with which the subsumed city must come into contact and negotiate.

Instant & Plug-in design& transform the Chunking Steel Barch Thesis Compared with other cities in the western area, Chongqing has an advantage in the industry, especially the heavy industries and military-to-civil industry. However, the development of a modern city always experiences a “Chicago cycle—developing from the traditional urbanization featured in the centralized development of single-core city to the metropolization stage featured in interactive development between the central city and the surrounding areas. Almost all cities will experience the iterative process from industrialization, de-industrialization to new modern city.

PROBLEM 1. Plant houses of a large area are vacant and abandoned. 2. Serious pollution problems due to pollutant emission for years. 3. Large equipment is eliminated due to low efficiency and aging etc.. 4. The whole plant area is independent and closed, which results in the relatively uneven future city development.

PLANNING Steel plants having large horizontal space and orderly column network, which are suitable for developing public buildings, including commercial office, catering and entertainment, library, theater and cinema or other cultural places. Chimney transformed to a rotary hotel and developing into a sea view house facing Dadu river. Pipeline making use of the original track and transforming it into cable car, which will be almost connected the building everywhere. G a s ta n k t ra n s fo rm e d to t h e i n fo rm a t i o n management center as the control center of the whole park and the parking place of the cable car.

Take the traffic condition for example, the road in the traditional city frames the texture of a city and the related links are lack between the buildings. One ever-changeless road already could hardly satisfy the complex city traffic now. And the concept of “instant” is rightly expected to divide the city texture in real time according to the traffic time and the happening situation of great events.

The large space is divided into several major different function partitions by the column network. According to different function module units, they are combined into each block, and several major function groups are divided and combined according to such factors as different time, climate and great events. Each large space includes a complete city synthesis. The functional attributes are used to control the ratio and density of the unit module, and the form of city space could become diversified.

Majestic Concert Hall Barch 402 Shadow is produced by light. The changes of light and shadow look like a music. With the fluctuation of music, visitors are guided to experience the spaces. This project is created by different visit routes and spaces with different sizes. Its architectural style is modern American with the style of Art Deco. Being elegant in appearance and unique in style, it is a typical representation of art deco in Shanghai. It incorporates the essence of modern and classical architectures with art deco style. The round hall at the entrance is designed to be a road and became the visual focus of the stree.

The proportions of the Golden ratio base are thought to reflect a perfect symmetry. φ =(1+√5)/2≈1.618... The plan of the original Majestic theatre is a Golden Rectangle. So the layout of new Majestic Hall launch around the Golden Section. And the circulations also keep to the Golden Spira.

Cummunity Culture Center Barch 302 The design idea of dividing a system (one) into pieces and combining them into a complete architecture in accordance with their different functions is very close to the original intention of community culture: everyone stays in a "container" harmoniously despite their different hobbies and interests.
