HEALTHCARE: LEADING THE WAY IN ACCESS, INNOVATION

Northwest Arkansas boasts a strong, nationally recognized healthcare system serving a diverse and ever-growing region. A leader in innovation, access and quality care, Northwest Arkansas also has a rapidly expanding specialty care sector including cardiologists, neurologists and endocrinologists.

The hospital systems consistently receive state and national recognition as industry leaders, while the entire region works to deliver the finest in care and expertise.

Northwest Arkansas is home to three major healthcare systems: Northwest Health, Mercy and Washington Regional. Each hospital system offers service options for the community by doctors, specialists and other healthcare professionals who take pride in providing comprehensive and accessible care.

Northwest Health

Northwest Health is the largest health system in the region. With a combined active medical staff of more than 540 physicians and 2,200 employees, it includes Northwest Medical Center – Bentonville, Northwest Medical Center – Springdale, Northwest Medical Center – Willow Creek Women’s Hospital, Northwest Health Physicians’ Specialty Hospital and Siloam Springs Regional Hospital.

The mission of Northwest Health is to provide extraordinary health care service and enrich the lives of the communities it serves. In 2021, Northwest Health was awarded the highest-level Governor’s Award for Performance Excellence, which focuses on quality improvement, and has historically been awarded to only 27 Arkansas organizations.

Northwest Medical Center – Bentonville

is a 128-bed facility offering comprehensive cardiac care, a dedicated orthopedic unit, inpatient and outpatient surgery, a critical care unit, outpatient diagnostic services, labor and delivery and emergency medicine.

Northwest Medical Center – Springdale

is a 308-bed facility offering inpatient and outpatient surgery, emergency medicine, cardiac care, medical and surgical intensive care units, outpatient diagnostics, bariatric surgery, behavioral health and inpatient rehabilitation.

Northwest Medical Center – Willow Creek

Women’s Hospital is a 64-bed center that is the only dedicated women’s hospital in the region with the area’s only OB/GYN emergency department, Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit and a maternal-fetal

medicine specialist for high-risk pregnancies. Services offered include obstetrics, gynecology, breast surgery, general surgery, plastic surgery and imaging services.

Northwest Health Physicians’ Specialty

Hospital, official medical provider for the Arkansas Razorbacks, is a 20-bed facility in Fayetteville owned in part by physicians. Surgical specialty areas include advanced spine surgery, bariatric surgery, interventional pain management, minimally-invasive general surgery, orthopedic and sports medicine, plastic and reconstructive surgery, podiatry and urology.

Siloam Springs Regional Hospital has 42 private patient rooms and includes inpatient and outpatient surgery, emergency medicine, medical and surgical intensive care units, obstetrics, outpatient diagnostic services and rehabilitation. For more information, visit

Mercy

Mercy, one of the 25 largest U.S. health systems, serves millions annually with nationally recognized quality care. Mercy Hospital Northwest Arkansas has consistently earned A ratings from The Leapfrog Group for patient safety and earning the highest possible 5-star rating from Medicare.

A non-profit, faith-based health system, Mercy Northwest Arkansas offers more than 200 primary care and multispecialty physicians in 60 practices. It also includes the 252-bed Mercy Hospital in Rogers. In Bentonville, Mercy offers six clinic locations and a Mercy GoHealth Urgent Care location.

Mercy – Bella Vista houses a primary care clinic, specialist clinics and an emergency department. Located at One Mercy Way, the nine-bed ER features lab, X-ray and CT services and a helicopter landing location.

Mercy Primary Care Clinic – Pea Ridge at 200 Carr St. is staffed with a physician and nurse practitioner, and specialty providers see patients there on a rotating basis. Mercy Clinic Primary Care – Centerton also offers cardiology and rotating specialties.

Mercy Northwest Arkansas completed a $277 million expansion in 2019, which added a seven-story, 279,000-square-foot tower to the Rogers hospital, plus a large multispecialty facility in Springdale. For more

Washington Regional

Washington Regional

Washington Regional Medical System is a not-for-profit, community-owned healthcare system in Fayetteville that employs more than 3,300 people. The system consists of a 425-bed medical center, more than 55 clinic locations and is the region’s only Level II trauma center. Washington Regional’s mission is to improve the health of people in the communities it serves through compassionate, high-quality care, prevention and wellness education.

Washington Regional offers Centers of Excellence in several specialties, including neurosciences, cardiovascular care, women and infants’ care, joint replacement and senior care, so patients can receive world-class health care without leaving home.

The J.B. Hunt Transport Services Neuroscience Institute provides advanced care for the brain and spine with experts in stroke, neurology, neurosurgery, interventional neuroradiology, conservative spine care and interventional pain management. Washington Regional is the area’s only Comprehensive Stroke Center, offering 24/7 in-person care with stroke experts and the region’s only 20-bed Neurosurgical ICU. The Washington Regional Spine Center is certified by The Joint Commission and provides a multi-disciplinary approach with an emphasis on conservative spine care.

The Walker Heart Institute at Washington Regional provides the most comprehensive cardiovascular care in Northwest Arkansas, having the region’s largest team of interventional cardiologists, electrophysiologists and cardiovascular and thoracic surgeons, as well as a 76-bed cardiology unit and a cardiopulmonary rehabilitation program. Walker Heart Institute offers the latest in technology and treatment options, including transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR) and WATCHMAN.

The Women and Infants’ Center at Washington Regional is designed to meet the needs of Northwest Arkansas’ growing families with 17 labor and delivery rooms, 28 private mother-baby rooms, the region’s largest NICU, an infant nutrition lab, Northwest Washington Regional’s Total Joint Center, which is certified by The Joint Commission, focuses exclusively on the education, recovery and rehabilitation of patients undergoing joint replacement. The Total Joint Center provides a dedicated 18-bed unit, and patients attend Joint Camp before their procedure to learn how to have the best results from their surgery. In 2020, Washington Regional was the first health system in Northwest Arkansas to offer the ROSA Knee System, a robotically-assisted surgical system that allows surgeons to tailor a patient’s joint replacement to their unique anatomy, leading to better outcomes.

Dedicated to the well-being of older adults, the Washington Regional Pat Walker Center for Seniors helps patients and their families navigate the changing physical and cognitive needs that can come with age. The Senior Health Clinic provides a multi-disciplinary team approach and offers geriatric primary care, management of chronic conditions and evaluation of acute illnesses, while the Movement Disorders and Memory Disorders clinics offer state-of-the art treatment for conditions including Parkinson’s disease, Huntington’s disease, Alzheimer’s disease and dementia.

Arkansas Children’s Northwest is the region’s only children's hospital, providing emergency, inpatient and diagnostic care to more than 200,000 children a year.
