Governors message..October
I've come to the conclusion that education is a lifelong en devour. This is especially true in the profession of photography. Eight years ago my work was still film based. I loved it! The process was what I knew and fell in love with at an early age. The smell of fixer in the darkroom while dodging and burning my prints was magic in the dark. Despite my love for the process and the beautiful results I was able to produce for our clients, the tide was shifting.
Now many years have passed since those long nights of learning new skills and maintaining consistency in my work in the process.
The learning curve was steep
however in the process I realized that to be relevant in my profession, I would have to embrace a lifelong ambition of learning. Turns out, I love adapting to the ever changing environment we derive our living.
Education is a key element in the process. Challenging ourselves to reinvent our skills while ever looking forward.
That was exactly what I learned at the summer seminar in Portsmouth. Despite the challenges we face in our profession, there are bright spots on the horizon. Just as ships sail out from the safe haven of the Chesapeake Bay to the uncertainty of the

sea, so do we continue our journey in our profession.
Cast away the ropes and set your sails for the open seas. Their is much to be found beyond the horizon. Embrace the journey and learn something along the way.

Summer Seminar Wrap up. What a great weekend in Portsmouth! The weather was perfect and the programs were outstanding. Our speakers shared information on a wide range of topics for a well rounded seminar. Capital District was well represented with talent. Thank you Jessica Robertson, David Abel, Jamie Hayes and Mary Fisk-Taylor. Your skills represent talent for the National stage.
