From The Governor:

Another amazing VPPA convention has come and gone and we can definitely say with each passing year, we continue to make lasting memories with some incredible people! We work hard so we can play hard, right? Talent is brought in to our local photographers (big shout out to Tracy McGhee, excellent 2015 Convention Chair) so that we can all learn and grow as pro-

fessionals to be the best we can be. As we all know, it is sometimes difficult to justify flying to other conferences throughout the year. There are a lot of costs involved in attending numerous conferences and THAT is why it is important to be a member of your local organization. It is so beneficial to have talented photographers come to our state convention and introduce new ideas to us twice annually. A big THANK YOU to all of volunteers/committees/ board members that assisted in making this convention a convention to remember!! :) Now that we have the convention behind us, it is time to start getting pumped up for our Summer Seminar!! The district governors are working hard to get all details organized so we can get the information to you as quickly as possible. We have the dates, speakers and location all ready, now just the fun details. We are actively looking for volunteers to assist with registration desk duties, as well as some of the behind the scene stuff, including print critique assistance. If you know for sure you will be attending and willing to volunteer, please email me directly at jen@jollyjenphotography.com and we will get you on the volunteer list. See information below for all details and feel free to book your hotel early... we all know the early bird gets the worm. Stay tuned for more exciting details about the Summer Seminar, along with extra days for extra pay with Sandra Pearce.

• Monthly VPPA Blue Ridge Meeting

Lisa Carter, ALLURE and ALLURE BOUDOIR March 9th @ Lisa’s Studio in Danville

Bio: Lisa Carter, M. Photog., Cr., CPP Photography by Lisa, Inc.

Blue Ridge made an awesome show at the convention this year! If you didn't attend you surely missed out; it was amazing!!! I am so amazed by the talent this state holds! What incredible programs and speakers. On print competition day I couldn't NOT watch! It was so awesome seeing it all in action and hearing the judges. Cannot wait until next year in Williamsburg, where we will be teaming up with SEPPA. This month's speaker is the most awesome and talented Lisa Carter. Our meeting is Monday, March 9th in Danville. She has a model lined up, complete with make-up, etc., to show us just how she works her magic with her Allure photography. If you plan to attend please let Lisa know. We plan to meet for lunch ahead of the session, then continue on to her NEW studio. I know I am excited, and I do hope to meet more of our Blue Ridge members there. We are still working on lining up speakers for the monthly meetings. It has been mentioned that a Lightroom meeting would be beneficial and I'm working on that with Michael Corbin for April. A couple other requests has been on creating compositions in PS and then a meeting on Painter or painting in Photoshop. Look for information on those meetings in the future. If there is anything you would love to see let me know. Would you be interested in a "Shoot Out" on a Saturday? I am working on obtaining a cool location as well as models ... please let me know if you have a suggestion on location. So far downtown Danville has been mentioned as well as the old town of Pocahontas, VA. If you know of an old factory, mill, or just anywhere that is a great location to shoot and play with your fellow Blue Ridge members let me know. I would love to have this in May or June once weather is warmer. Cannot wait to see everyone Monday where we will get our Allure on! Keep Snapping! Marjorie Stallard, CPP
