INTRODUCTION ‘Architecture should speak of its time and place, but yearn for timelessness.’
Dear reader,
FRANK GEHRY This portfolio provides an impression of my architectural, artistic and design related work of the last couple of years, during which I have completed my bachelor of architecture at Delft Technical University. In the following pages I would like to show my abilities as an architectural designer and the different types of projects and scales I have worked with, ranging from urbanism to art. Every design is created with great care, research and consideration of all aspects involved. All projects have been carefully deliberated with teachers, team members and collegues in order to achieve an adequate design. Each project has been worked on and completed with great ambition and enthousiasm, which I’m sure I will maintain in the future. Veerle Rigter

NATURUM | Wildlife museum of Goteborg Design a museum for the wildlife in and around Göteborg, Sweden, at an industrial site next to the old harbour. The program will include an exposition area, storage/ workspace, offices, a restaurant and a 24h/7d open waiting area for the ferry stop next to the site. The new Naturum is a clash between industrial
and
natural
architecture,
combining three simple strict volumes with a facade inspired by nature and the location (itself). The strict ‘factory’ building is overgrown by its ‘natural’ industrial surroundings, creating the facades made of re-used pipes. The ground floor is kept open for public use and transport to and from the ferry stop by foot and bike. The remarkable look and position of the building will make it a landmark, highly visible because of its height and its location at the water.
