WHAT A YEAR! As usual, December is the month where one tries to draw some conclusions, and with the world championship that has yet to be fully digested, we are already thinking about the last titled event of the year in Macau and the 2017 season. With such a challenging season on an international level, the teams have to get ready again to use their best strategies and drivers who are the main authors of this racing show. Then, in twelve months’ time we’ll be here again to draw another line and other conclusions. The most evident aspect of 2016 is the long list of titles and success gained for Giancarlo Tinini, Crg patron and the success of his chassis, which has been a winning one regardless of what engine is mounted. A structure which is more competitive on all sides. Also the drivers have benefitted with such organization, and the Crg racing team is among the best thanks to their formation. Pedro Hiltbrand, driver of the year, is one of these drivers. His is a season to be framed thanks to 3 Cik/Fia title wins and winning the Spanish championship in KZ2. Very few can say to have done as well. 2016 has been an important year also for the Cik/Fia that has promoted the OK championship in hardly no time, a new engine that has fulfilled all expectations. The world championship in Bahrain that has closed the season has left everyone involved satisfied and “’Original Karting” is like the right solution to make the karting movement pick up again even on a national level too. However, there are also doubts and disagreements as far as sports regulations regarding front bumpers are concerned, a disposition that might be justified in categories like the Mini and the Junior, for safety measures, and as a deterrent for dirty play, and on the race direction who is responsible for interpreting and guarantying the sport effort of protagonists in a karting competition, which is very rich in racing evolution. This year too, we have registered several turns of events that have penalised drivers who deserved the results they got on the track. 6 VROOM INTERNATIONAL MAGAZINE
It’s too easy, and at the same time debatable to limit a penalty just for the position of the bumper, you should also consider the intention and the cause of a crash, which changed things in favour or against the results of a driver’s race. In the meanwhile, hoping that everything will be re-visited, and professional classes such as KZ and OK will be excluded from such penalties, could be a signal of common sense. We’ll end these considerations on this past year with an emblematic image: Marino Spinozzi and Giorgio Pantano flicking through the pages of an issue of Vroom that goes back 15 years, re-discovering emotions that have never dwindled. Communication time is getting more and more hectic, Vroom too can’t escape this tendency which is aimed to satisfy the attention of those who love this motoring sport. However, our commitment is never to lose sight of a magazine, that’s been a reference point in this field for 28 years now. And the trust that our readers have in us, tells us that the way we’ve been doing things is the right way. If before it might have seemed normal to subscribe to a specific magazine, nowadays we are even happier for the attention that karting fans continue give preferring the paper issue despite being bombarded by various offers via web and digital magazines. As from this issue, we have decided to give more value to the printed product using two types of paper. Yes, because today more than ever, reading and flicking through pages of a magazine is one of the pleasures that take us away from the usual daily routines; besides the contents also the paper is coming back as a protagonist to enhance each issue of Vroom, which has always been an object of desire for any enthusiast. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year, and do let us know if what has been done is to your liking. See you with the next issue

TECHNICAL SIDE:
Anckermann’s angles: The steering system of a kart seems at first very simple, but it has been developed from a clever idea from a German, Ackermann, who used it for the first time on carriages How to get ready for the cold: Karting doesn’t necessarily need to...freeze when the cold season steps in, however, all round, it’s better to take some precautions to face lower temperature.
INTERVIEW:
Who is Victor Martins?: Vroom recognised the talent of this young French driver since his first win in Portimao. It couldn't be a win by chance, it was a clear sweep. So we interviewed him and we presented him to you on September's issue, and now this interview is more actual than ever because that unkwnown driver now is the OK Junior World Champion, after another consistent performance in Bahrain. Winning in never by chance. Well done Victor. Talking to Antonio Fuoco: Karting and car racing are closer than ever after the new partnership set up between Ferrari Driver Academy and Tony Kart. We met Antonio Fuoco in Lonato and he answered some questions about his life and career. Kiwi karters talk about their experiences at Rok Final in Italy: For young Kiwi karters Breanna Morris, Joshua Parkinson, William Exton and Mason Potter their recent trip to Italy to contest the big Vortex ROK Cup International meeting at Lonato was a trip into the unknown. Mart Garcia Lopez leaves karting: From the fourth place in the CIK-FIA OK European Championship to formula cars.
SPECIAL
How to start racing in kart: It’s never too late to take up karting, but there are some things that you ought to know before doing it.

TECHNICAL NEW PRODUCTS GTC505 ENGINE IGNITION ANALYZER The GTC505 Engine Ignition Analyzer is a handheld instrument designed from the ground up for the diagnosis and performance measurement of all types of spark ignition systems, from conventional to the newest Coil on Plug in use. The GTC505 is capable of displaying and measuring the following in real time: secondary ignition waveform, primary coil current ramp time, dwell time, spark burn time and RPM. It also provides two innovative and unique display formats used to compare measurements between cylinders, and to look at data for hundreds of spark events over time in order to detect intermittent problems, misfires and other performance issues which are very difficult to detect using conventional scopes. Measures spark peak voltage, for finding primary and secondary coil faults; Displays ignition waveforms in real time, allowing for detailed analysis; Detects ramp time (or dwell angle), for diagnosis of timing issues and primary coil faults; Has chart and comparison functions, allowing the user to find intermittent issues; Works on all spark-ignition engines, from small 2-stroke engines with magnetos to modern cars with computer-controlled coil on plug systems
