AKB48 member Minegishi Minami shaves head as act of apology due to ‘sex scandal’ Source: http://sgcafe.com/2013/02/akb48-member-minegishi-minamishaves-head-act-apology-due-sex-scandal/ By sentinel011 on February 1st, 2013

Product specifications:

Ice Silver PS Vita

Ice Silver is the fifth official colour for the PlayStation Vita (not including limited edition specials, like the Soul Sacrifice set), and it is a colour exclusive to the Wi-Fi only model – at least for now. 3G/Wi-Fi PS Vita units will not come in Ice Silver. The Ice Silver Ps Vita Wi-Fi model will retail for S$399, available in stores beginning March 4, 2013. Product specs are as follows:

As queer as Japan’s entertainment industry goes, AKB48 member Minegishi Minami shaved her head as an act of apology to her fans and management due to a recent sex scandal. As far as Japanese society’s rules go, the act of girls shaving their heads as an act of apology is nothing new. Young girls are usually made to shave their heads by their families to signify their sense of guilt and acknowledge the shame the girls put onto their family. For Minegishi’s case, the shame she brought upon would be to her idol management as well as the rest of AKB48′s members, as Japanese idols often had to sign contracts dictating that they are not allowed to have romantic relationships.

February 1st, 2013

Fans of such Japanese idols often fantasize about their favourite idols, as such having such idols ‘untouched’ romantically (apart from segments done on variety shows or TV dramas and movies) would further drive the hardcore fans to continue to support the idols by purchasing tons of CDs and merchandise. When Minegishi was involved in the scandal, fans were angered and demand apology for ‘cheating’ them. To allay her fans and the management Minegishi took matters in her own hands through shaving her head bald. Her management has released the following statement in reply to the publication Shunkan Shinbun that released Minegishi’s scandal article and photos: This is regarding Minami Minegishi’s scandal that was reported on a weekly magazine that was released today. We decided what her punishment will be and so, I want to take this opportunity to inform the fans about it. We had decided to demote Minami Minegishi to become a member of team Trainee as her punishment for causing nuisance to the fans because of this scandal. This demotion will take effect on February 1, 2013. Moreover, we will give more information about her schedule as soon as details have been decided. This is a sudden announcement, and I apologize to all the fans. Please keep giving your support to AKB48.

Published by: VR-Zone

I understand it’s wishful thinking, but if it’s possible, I would like to still be AKB48′s Minegishi Minami. This is all my fault. I’m truly sorry. I will leave my hereafter to the hands of Akimotosensei and management. Though I haven’t been able to tidy my mind up, but I just wanted to tell my current feeling to you. Thank you so much for listening to me. (Deep Bow) Despite shaving her hair and being demoted, there might be a chance where fans are still not satisfied. The sad fact is that by shaving, Minegishi unknowingly devalued herself as an idol despite wanting to continue to be one in her statement. It is unfortunate that young girls who wish to continue as idols but wish to be engaged in a romantic relationship are unable to do so due to the pressures of the Japanese idol industry. Grand Theft Auto V comes out September 17, 2013 Source: http://sgcafe.com/2013/01/grand-theft-auto-ivseptember-17-2013/ By KarbyP on January 31st, 2013

AKB48 Theater General Manager, Tomonobu Togasaki Minami Minegishi has a message to the fans, and you can watch it on AKB48’s Official YouTube Channel. The following is a translation of Minegishi’s statement: I’m Minegishi Minami from Umeda team B of AKB48. I’m very sorry to have caused enormous worry to members, fans, staffs, my families and a lot of other people with the article in the weekly magaizne that is published today. (Deep Bow) As the 1st generation member of AKB48, the group that has formed in 2005, it’s my responsibility to always behave as a good role model to juniors. I deeply regret what I did this time. It was a thoughtless deed and I was completely lacking selfawareness as a senior member. My brain blanked out and I’m still unable to figure out what to do, what I can do. But after I saw the magazine a little ago, I couldn’t help but doing something. And I decided to shave my head without consulting any member or staff at my agency. Although I don’t think I would be forgiven by doing this, the first thing that I went through my head was that “I don’t want to leave AKB48.” This is a place where my dear members, who I spent my blossom of youth together, are. And it’s unimaginable to even think about leaving the group where I’m with so many wonderful and sweet fans.

Red Dead Redemption, GTA: San Andreas, and GTA IV combined – the GTA team said that the game needed the extra time for it to be polished to the standards that fans expect of RockStar Games. Dear all Today, we have an official release date to share with you: Grand Theft Auto V will arrive in stores on September 17, 2013. We know this is about four months later than originally planned and we know that this short delay will come as a disappointment to many of you, but, trust us, it will be worth the extra time. GTAV is a massively ambitious and complex game and it simply needs a little more polish to be of the standard we and, more importantly, you require. To all Grand Theft Auto fans, please accept our apologies for the delay, and our promise that the entire team here is working very hard to make the game all it can be. We are doing all we can to help ensure it will meet if not exceed your expectations come September – we thank you for your support and patience.

Planning on watching One Piece Film Z (our review here), but not entirely familiar with what the nine individual members in the Straw Hat Pirates crew can do? Here, watch this One Piece Kaizoku Musou 2 (Pirate Warriors 2), which briefly shows off what the members in the powered-up Straw Hat Pirates crew can do in this sequel. Both the movie and game are set in the New World (second half of the Grand Line) ocean route – basically the most dangerous seas in the world of of One Piece, so the two aren’t exactly unrelated. In fact, gamers who pre-order the game in Japan will receive a One Piece Film Z costume DLC for protagonist Monkey D. Luffy. We’re not too sure if the pre-order bonus would apply to Singapore and the rest of Asia at the moment. The newly streamed full trailer of the To Aru Majutsu no Index: Endymion no Kiseki now gives viewers a clearer idea of what the movie is all about (unlike the previews 5

The trailer also offers a sneak peak at the “Dream Story for Pirates Log”, an extra mode – featuring an original story, to boot – in which gamers can play through a series of dream matches never before seen in the manga and anime series. A similar “dream match” mode was also included in the first One Piece: Pirate Warriors, but it appears that Pirate Warriors 2‘s mode will focus more on Devil Fruit ability users.

Meltlilith (voiced by Saori Hayami) is the last of three Sakura Matou lookalikes to be introduced in Type-Moon and Imageepoch’s forthcoming PSP JRPG Fate/Extra CCC, and in terms of personality she is the exact opposite of Passionlip the pacifist. Come to think of it, that much should have been obvious the moment back when Meltlilith’s character illustrations were first revealed – she’s got sharp, pointed needles for legs, for cripes’ sake! Whatever the hell does she need that for?

“Do you feel like submitting yourself wholeheartedly to me? I’m asking you, yes or no? Would you rather be in heaven or hell?” Meltlilith asks in a cold, refined, and slightly holierthan-thou voice “Tell me. Depending on your answer, I may or may not think about the fun things we’ll do after dinner,” Meltlilith she goes on. There’s almost a tinge of nobility in her voice. But her true colours only emerge when she gets to talking about what she’ll do to an opponent. She lets her sadistic intentions seep into her voice. You can almost hear ecstasy. “To be able to utterly and completely obliterate a detestable enemy, honestly I can never get enough of that senstation. It’s like tearing off the wings of a little bird.”

This is the third DLC pack for the PS Vita rhythm game. Will it come to Asia? We don’t know for sure, but we’re guessing that it likely will. The first pack made it safely onto Asian shores PS Stores, but the second pack - featuring a collaboration between Sony’s PlayStation mascot cats Toro and Kuro, and Sega’s Hatsune Miku game – was sold exclusively on the Japanese store. If the new pack is sold in Asian territories, we’re guessing that the prices for it in Singapore and Hong Kong are S$5.45 will be HK$34 respectively, based on the pricing structure set for the first DLC pack. Again, this is just speculation on our part, and we won’t know for sure until we check the PS Store on February 5 itself.

Project Diva f Additional Item Set Pack (free) A DLC pack containing both of the Snow Miku 2013 modules (character skins) that Sega unveiled late last year for the PS Vita’s Project Diva f will be released on the Japanese PlayStation Store next Tuesday, February 5, to be sold for the price of 300 yen.

Other than the release date for the Snow Miku 2013 DLC pack, Sega also announced today that a “Project Diva f Additional Item Set Pack” will be released for the Vita version of Project Diva on March 7, the same day that the PS3 port comes out. This DLC pack is free to download, and will include the following customise and Edit Mode items: • Customise items (18 items; these are basically accessories for the head, back, arms, etc) • Special effects for use in Edit Mode (16 items) 8

• 3D stages for use in Edit Mode (51 items) • 2D illustrations for use in Edit Mode (26 items) • Hand items for use in Edit mode (21 items; I think these are like poseable hands and fingers and such… can someone clarify in the comments?) • Dance motions for use in Edit mode (46 items)

In the PS3 version of the game, Sega has made some enhancements to the Edit Data mode, which allows creative players to make their own custom stages and promo videos for songs – and not just for the ones featured in-game; players can also transfer MP3 files of the songs they own digitally into the Vita, and create stages for those tunes. And so in order to ensure that all of the new Edit Data files that players create in the PS3 version will be compatible with the Vita one, Sega has decided to release all of the extra content to Vita players for free.

As with most Japanese artistes, they can’t resist the allure of Singapore’s chicken rice. The ladies were also mesmerized by the night scenery at the Merlion Park. April is a big month for the Steins;Gate franchise. The official website of the Steins;Gate movie has announced that Steins;Gate Fuka Ryoiki no déjà-vu is scheduled to premiere on April 20 in Japan. The movie will introduce a brand new story which happens after the true end. So it’s recommended that viewers finish the entire TV anime series before watching the movie. Steins;Gate Fuka Ryoiki no déjà-vu’s opening date is close to the release date of the franchise’s upcoming visual novel entitled Phenogram of Linear Restraint. The fully-voiced adventure game developed by 5pb will be released for the Xbox and 360 and PlayStation 3 on April 25.

Sony has streamed a video which showed nothing but the four signature PlayStation buttons being electrified, but what makes gamers ecstatic about it is that at the end of the video, the console giant has revealed that it will announce something big on February 20. So what will be revealed on the 20th? According to the sources of The Wall Street Journal, Sony will talk about its next-gen console on the PlayStation 2013 press event. The words uttered by Hyuuga Akito during the last scene of the first episode have indeed made viewers excited for Code Geass: Akito the Exiled’s next chapter (in other words, the final scene was a huge cliff hanger). While it has been announced that the second episode will be pushed back from spring to summer, Bandai Channel has already streamed the first PV. The channel has a region lock so viewers outside Japan won’t be able to see it. Fortunately, a concerned fan has uploaded the video on YouTube: When Hanasaku Iroha: Home Sweet Home’s premise was revealed last month, I kept on wondering what that -certain item- was. Finally, it was shown in the TV ad streamed by Pony Canyon in their official YouTube Channel. In the video, we see Ohana opening a box that contains a notebook. Suddenly, the scene shifts to what seems like Ohana’s mom (in her younger years) about to run away from home. I’m guessing that the notebook is connected to her mom’s past. The video also features Kage Fumi by nano.RIPE (the pop rock band that previously performed songs for Hanasaku Iroha’s TV anime). For more details on the upcoming movie, just read our previous post.

Code Geass: Akito the Exiled is a side story of the original Code Geass series which takes place in 2017 a.t.b (when Zero, along with his Black Knights, has risen). The main protagonist is Hyuuga Akito, a young pilot and member of the W-0 unit. His superior is Leila Malkal, a former Britannian Aristocrat serving the E.U. Army as a military officer. The story is about a fight for freedom in order to have a “home” they can return to. Haven’t seen the first episode yet? Go ahead and watch it already! The story may have a simple premise, but it’s as promising and exciting as the original series. Sources: Japan Otaku Channel, @Yuyucow and Code Geass Wiki

rumours/ By ellehaym on February 7th, 2013

Last week, we witnessed a video from Sony revealing that something big will happen on the 20th, and according to the sources of The Wall Street Journal, the Japanese console giant will talk about PlayStation 4. The said event is fast approaching and rumours about the price and release date have been spreading. According to the Asahi Shimbun, one of the leading newspapers in Japan, Sony’s next-gen console will cost over 40,000 JPY (almost 530 SGD). If this is true, then it would be cheaper compared to the cost of the PlayStation 3, which was initially launched at 50,000 JPY (and 72,000 JPY for the 60GB system). The newspaper also claims that PlayStation 4 will finally be out in Japan and the USA before 2013 ends. There is no word, however, on a European launch date. Asahi Shimbun also adds that PS4’s controller (currently unnamed), will almost have the same shape as the PlayStation 3’s DualShock 3 with the addition of a touchpad.

Dragon Quest’s official homepage had streamed promotional videos for the remake of Dragon Quest VII: Warriors of Eden. The live-action commercials are titled “Town Square,” “The Mysterious Stone,” “The Adventure Begins,” and a 56-second web long version that combines the three titles together. The live action ads features Prince Kiefer and Wolf boy Gabo, in their amusing attempts to shake off the red-headed ritual dancer, Aira. Fans will remember Dragon Quest VII (or also known as Dragon Warriors in the North American release) for its huge game play, which can took hundreds of hours to complete. With the remake for the Nintendo 3DS, visible enemy encounters will be feature, instead of random encounters. Currently released only in Japan, Warriors of Eden will have brand-new 3D graphics, and players can wirelessly exchange art with each other using the StreetPass feature of the 3DS. source: blog.esuteru.com, dragonquest.jp

IGN is currently waiting for Sony’s comment on the report. Given that these rumours are true, will you purchase the PlayStation 4 this year? For now, let’s just hope that every question we have about Sony’s upcoming console will clear up on February 20. 1

Magi’s dungeon clearing scenario sounds good for an action RPG. And that’s precisely why the Arabian Nights-themed manga by Shinobu Ohtaka will be released as a Nintendo 3DS RPG in Japan this month. Three video commercials, including a full promo clip and two short ads, have been streamed by Bandai Namco Games in their official YouTube channel. Watch all three below: For YouTube user Counter656 (Dali Taichung aka John Huang in real life), action figures are more than just for display in his room—they can be as dynamic as originally seen in their respective anime series. You don’t believe me? Then here are some videos created and released by Counter656 Productions: My personal favorite: Gundams getting owned by Fate series’ Saber For these videos, Huang uses figures that are highly interchangeable and poseable (usually, the ones from S.H.Figuarts) and Photoshop. A multitude of still photos are edited and special effects are added. The final result is an impressive battle scene of character/mecha figures. Currently, Counter656 Productions is holding its “2013 Most Wanted Stop Motion” video survey. Visit Huang’s blog and vote for your favorite character (poll is located on the left side of the page). The most voted character will be prioritized for his next set of projects (just so you know, Dragon Ball characters are leading the poll). It is two weeks to the release of Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance, and Konami & its partners have released more trailers introducing the various modes, enemies and weaponry. To further prove the point that there are elements of stealth within Revengeance, Konami released a trailer featuring Augment Mode, one of the abilities Raiden will be able to use. See your enemies through walls and objects, allowing you to use various strategies and tactics. In previous Metal Gear games, placing Playboy magazines will distract humanoid cyborgs; this time, holographic variants come to play. Talk about moving with the times indeed. Swords and katanas aren’t the only weapons Raiden can use. Like the weapons the bosses used? Raiden can use it too, but it is unknown as to how to obtain these weapons. I wonder if Jetstream Sam’s blade is usable, enabling Raiden to dualwield the HF blades. Konami also released trailers introducing the different grunt variants; the normal foot soldiers and the Unmanned Gears. There’s a Heavy Soldier wielding a hammer bigger than Raiden’s body, but at the hands of a skilled player, the hammer can be deflected easily. Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance will release for the PS3 and Xbox360 on 19 and 21 February 2013 for the North America and Japan region (PS3 only) respectively.

Kyary hits #3 in weekly Oricon charts with latest single release

Published by: VR-Zone By sentinel011 on February 6th, 2013

Perhaps it might be due to Crayon Shin Chan, but no doubt Kyary Pamyu Pamyu is gaining popularity amongst many Japanese pop fans. The eccentric Harajuku Lady got 3rd in the Oricon weekly charts for her latest single CD release. Her latest single, Kimi ni 100 Percent / Furisodeshon is currently the theme song of the wacky kid’s anime, and released exactly a week ago on 30 January. At press time, Kyary had about 21,000 copies of her single sold, ahead of Coda’s BLOODY STREAM. Being among the top 3 artistes to garner a spot within Oricon’s weekly charts is surely a prestigious one, similar to USA’s Billboard charts. Unfortunately, Kyary got very strong competitors from both male and female idol groups, especially from EXILE and SKE48. GENERATIONS from EXILE TRIBE gathered 72,000 in weekly sales for their single ANIMAL, while SKE48′s Choco no Dorei topped off the rankings with over 530,000 copies sold. It has been almost a month since Kyary came to Singapore to film for variety show Catherine the 13th. Kyary’s tweet caught a local fan’s attention, and managed to get an autograph. Her upcoming world tour, while having Singapore as one of the selected countries to hold her tour concert, haven’t had any additional details such as date and location as well as ticket prices. In almost every school life anime, there is always an episode where the characters are having fun either at the beach or pool. That means you get to see the girls wearing their swimsuits. Tamako Market is no different. In fact, the upcoming episode is set at the beach. To give a bit of a teaser, KyoAni has released illustrations of the female characters in their swimwear. For now, we won’t be seeing them in full colour because that would just kill the excitement for the next episode, right? Tamako Kitashirakawa Shiori Asagiri

And I thought that Studio Ghibli will finally have a back to back release of their magnificent films this 2013. Unfortunately, it has been announced that Isao Takahata’s Kaguya-hime no Monogatari won’t make it to theatres this summer. The movie is rescheduled for a premiere this fall. Don’t be too disappointed, though. Hayao Miyazaki’s Kaze Tachinu opens this summer in Japan as scheduled.

Read our previous post about the upcoming Ghibli films this 2013 here at SGCafe.

Here’s the statement released by Toho, the distribution company of Takahata’s upcoming feature-length film, regarding the delay:

We received a report from Studio Ghibli that the storyboard has not been completed yet, though its progress was almost as same as ‘Kaze Tachinu’. After considering various situations, it’s been decided to postpone the release to this fall. We apologize to all of the fans who have been waiting for the release of the movie, and please wait and look for ‘Kaguya-hime no Monogatari’, which will be even more attractive when it’s released.

Nintendo has taken a step towards protecting young children from the dangers in and beyond the cyber world. Within the last 24 hours, Wii U players below 12 years of age are no longer allowed to directly send or receive friend requests. However, they can still add friends outside the Miiverse by exchanging Nintendo Network IDs with people in their Friend List. The move is to prevent young players from exchanging Nintendo Network IDs and 3DS Friend Codes through the Miiverse. To sum it all up, this Wii U update will only permit the young ones to be friends with the people they know in Miiverse.

Previously, players can post as much as they wanted to. The comments, however, are not included in this update. Here are the other small updates: • Users will get a notification whenever there’s a new follower. • Users will no longer be notified if there are new comments on a post, unless the comment comes from the original poster. The World Wide Web is a great place to express your fandom and love for anime and games. And I would bet that you’ve tried quizzes such as “Which <insert anime/game title here> character are you?” However, tables are turned with the “joke web service” ShindanMaker, which allows users to create ridiculous (not to mention often anime-inspired) personality test quizzes whose results are based on the name or username entered. The TV commercial was filmed at a special live concert held at Tokyo’s Doujouji (a Buddhist temple) on January 29 to commemorate Kyary’s 20th birthday. Concert-goers were asked to participate in a slew of activities involving their smartphones, such as vigorously shaking it up and down to light up Tokyo Tower, and waving it around with an app that keeps the phone’s touchscreen lit up in a bright, neon colour – like a glow stick – as Kyary performed Ninjyari Ban Ban for the very first time.

In this particular one, you are an anime character and the diagnosis/fortune-telling quiz gives you a name of a Japanese seiyuu based on the name you typed in. I played with it for a bit and got some interesting and crazy results. First, I tried typing in my nickname, and it generated a male seiyuu (I’m a girl for goodness’ sake!).

Details on when Kyary’s new single will be released are due to be announced at a later date. Source: Natalie

If you were an anime character, who would your seiyuu be? Find out with ShindanMaker!

Unsatisfied with previous outcome, I typed in my full name.

Source: http://sgcafe.com/2013/02/anime-character-seiyuu-be-findshindanmaker/

This time, I’m satisfied. I love Marina Inoue’s (Guren Lagann’s Yoko) voice and it would be a great pleasure to be voiced by her, if I was an anime character. I also tried “ellehaym”…

…and got a male seiyuu again. Ugh! I was curious about the other results generated by ShindanMaker so I typed our administrator’s username: Unlike Namco Bandai’s Tiger & Bunny: On-Air Jack, D3 Publisher’s Hero’s Day lets you pick to play as any of the anime series’ eight protagonists.

According to ShindanMaker, sentinel011 will be voiced by Daisuke Ono, the seiyuu behind Kuroshitsuji’s Sebastian Michaelis. I was having so much fun so I also tried our editor’s username.

At the moment it’s not confirmed if each character in the game will have his or her own individual ending, but at the very least, the game’s developer have confirmed that Hero’s Day will feature multiple endings – depending on the choices you make throughout the adventure. Choices in Hero’s Day largely falls under two categories: adventure part choices, and time-limited “Battle Choices”. Note that just because it’s called Battle Choices, doesn’t mean that a fight against a supervillain will break out right after you make a choice (although there are those as well). For the most part, these time-limited choices are so-called because they’re a battle against time. Here’s an example of each.

Adventure-part choices ShindanMaker says KarbyP will be voiced by Kazuya Nakai, the seiyuu who lent his voice to One Piece’s Roronoa Zoro. And so, if SGCafe becomes an anime and we have to hire seiyuus, I would surely use this post as a reference. Try ShindanMaker as well and share your results below!

In the images you see above, Antonio Lopez (Rock Bison) has some time to kill, and is deciding whether to go hang out with Kotetsu (Wild Tiger), or to go meet up with Fire Emblem. Things don’t always go as planned in Hero’s Day, however, so if you picked to go spend time with Kotetsu, what happens is that Antonio ends up calling Agnes Joubert, producer for Hero TV, by mistake. Suffice to say, if you’re a fan who has to know everything about your favourite characters in Tiger & Bunny, you’d want to play through each character’s scenario multiple times to see and learn everything.

Battle choices

Published by: VR-Zone

To be honest, in this case I don’t see how things could go well for Kotetsu regardless of which option he picks. I guess the right option here would probably be to admit that Kotetsu forgot about it (so probably the first option). In any case, two screenshots depict what Kaede’s responses to this scenario might be, depending on what you pick: • … What kind of an excuse is that? • … So this is how you’re plan on hoodwinking me into thinking you remember, huh?

Fanservice Outside of the main game itself, Tiger & Bunny: Hero’s Day will also come loaded with oodles of fanservice. One prime example of fanservice here is something that the game’s developer is calling “eyecatch”. These are bootup loading sequences that feature character illustrations along with a meaningful voice message from the character depicted, that changes depending on what time it is when you start up the game.

(Condition: have not played the game for over two weeks) Yo, it’s sure been a while huh? How’ve you been

Battle choices are a little more complicated than the regular type. In some events, up to four possible responses will be listed on the screen while a timer is counting down, and it’s up to you to find the right answer to potentially diffuse a complicated situation.

(Early afternoon) What, there’s a small test today? I didn’t hear about it… what do I do now?!

For instance, in the screenshots you see above, Kotetsu had apparently made a promise to his daughter Kaede the night before, but he can’t remember what the promise was, when Kaede reminds him about it the very next day. At this point, the following four choices appear on the screen: • Which promise was that? • Crap, I didn’t think Kaede would actually remember it. • Ask about Kaede’s mood today • Ah, I drank a little too much yesterday, huh… 10

JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: All Star Battle (PS3, X360) comes out August 29 in Japan

• (And a few other objects) Apart from the price and release date announcements, Jump magazine’s feature on JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: ASB also reveals that Part 8: Jojolion’s protagonist, Josuke Higashikata, will also be included in the game as a playable fighter (the headline for the feature reads “All-Star BattLion”… har har, very charming, Shueisha). In combat Josuke wields the stand Soft & Wet.

The release of Namco Bandai Games and developer CyberConnect2′s JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: All Star Battle has been dated. According to this week’s issue of Jump magazine, the PS3 and X360 3D fighting game will be released in Japan on August 29 this year. JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: ASB will come in regular and limited editions. The regular edition will be sold in Japan for 7,980 yen including tax, while the limited edition is priced at 16,980 yen, which is more than twice the admission price to the standard version, but not exactly something fans would likely scoff at – especially given what you’re getting in the limited edition box. The text in the scan we have is a little too scrambled for me to make out all of the details, so I’ll have to furnish the full details later, but at the very least you’re getting: • A sculpted figure of Jotaro Kujo from Part 3

Earlier tonight studio Production I.G. held a Ghost in the Shell: Arise event at nicofarre event hall in Roppongi, giving its live audience – and fans watching at home via a livestream – their first look at the upcoming four-part anime film series. A first trailer for the series, as well as what appears to be its OP, was shared on the Web: The new four-part series, with each part having a runtime of 50 minutes long, will be made available to consumers on Blu-ray and DVD. In addition to the Blu-ray and DVD releases, the first part of the series, entitled Ghost Pain (攻攻攻攻攻ARISE border攻1 Ghost Pain), will also be shown in cinema theatres in Japan for two weeks, beginning June 22. It is unclear at the moment if the remaining three parts will also see theatrical releases. Oddly enough, cinema-goers who head out to watch Ghost Pain at theatres will also be amongst the first to own Ghost in the Shell: Arise on Blu-ray, as the Blu-ray home release for part one will be sold at theatres in advance of its general sales period, which will commence July 26. Apart from going to the theatres, from June 22 anime fans in Japan will also be able to watch the film online via paid streaming services like the Docomo Anime Store (d攻攻攻攻攻 攻). In Ghost in the Shell: Arise, Maaya Sakamoto will voice lead character Motoko Kusanagi, who’s younger now due to the four-part series being a prequel to the rest of the GitS anime franchise. Although Atsushi Tanaka had previously helmed the leading role in past Ghost in the Shell anime works, Sakamoto is no stranger to her new role; she had previously played an even younger version of Motoko in the first GiTS movie. The rest of its cast revealed thus far are as follows:

Slam Dunk is coming back… as a social game Source: http://sgcafe.com/2013/02/slam-dunk-coming-back-as-socialgame/ By KarbyP on February 12th, 2013

Put together the strongest high school basketball team in all of Japan, by recruiting players the likes of Hanamichi Sakuragi and Kaede Rukawa, in Slam Dunk ~Mezase! Saikyo Team~ (SLAM DUNK攻攻攻攻攻攻攻攻攻攻!!攻), a social game based on Takehiko Inoue’s popular manga and anime series.

In an attempt to further infuse some of the real sport’s flavour here, in this game it matters not only which cards you choose to put into your deck, but also the positions in which you placed them in. Depending on those card positions, a variety of Skill Links (攻攻攻攻攻) – mirroring plays as seen in the Slam Dunk anime series – may activate.

Launched today on DeNA’s Mobage games platform, the new Slam Dunk social game was co-developed between DeNA’s in-house team and KLab Inc., in conjunction with Toei Animation, and is playable on Android and iOS smartphones as well as good ol’ feature phones (which many consumers in Japan still use today).

And you’ll want to activate as many Skill Links as you can, as they are the key to winning matches against other players.

So how does one put together a solid basketball team in Slam Dunk ~Mezase! Saikyo Team~? Like with the majority of mobile social games in Japan, this task involves collecting tons and tons of illustrated cards, and picking out those that work well together in order to assemble an unbeatable deck. Cards in this social game come in four varieties. First, at the forefront of any deck here are Player cards featuring characters like Sakuragi and Rukawa. Complementing Player cards are Skill, Support (this is where characters like Sakuragi’s love interest Haruko Akagi come in), and Tactics (Coach Anzai) cards. 3

Actor Osamu Mukai debuts as a seiyuu in Doraemon Source: http://sgcafe.com/2013/02/actor-osamu-mukai-debuts-seiyuudoraemon/ By ellehaym on February 12th, 2013

With each victory you covet, you’ll earn yourself a videotape, an in-game item that’s actually quite useless all on its own. I suppose in the context of the game world these videotapes contain recorded match footage that you then sit down to review in order to formulate your game plan for the next match. But collect enough of these tapes, and you’ll eventually unlock something called Memorial Film, which are brief clips or scenes taken directly from the Slam Dunk anime series. You don’t really see that in a lot of social games, but this is possible here thanks to Toei Animation’s involvement. There is also apparently a story of some sort in this game, said to be taking place in parallel with the main storyline from the anime series. It’s not mentioned anywhere if Slam Dunk author Takehiko Inoue has had a hand in the writing here, however. So it’s best not to expect anything but the most rudimentary of plotlines here. Slam Dunk ~Mezase! Saikyo Team~ is free to play, with optional paid content, and accessible now on the Mobage games platform via your smartphone (iOS and Android) or feature phone Web browser.

To us anime fans, Osamu Mukai is known for his roles in the live-action adaptations of Beck, Honey and Clover, Nodame Cantabile and Paradise Kiss. This time, he took on the challenge of being a seiyuu. It has been announced that the Japanese actor will lend his voice for the TV anime, Doraemon. And you know what’s interesting? Osamu Mukai will be playing Osaru Mukai, an action star with monkey-like stunts (saru is the Japanese word for monkey). Sounds like his name, right? Osaru appears in the episode entitled “Saikyou! Korobashiya Z” which airs in Japan on March 1. Although Mukai finds voice acting challenging, he says that he was happy to receive the role. The actor relates that he has been watching Doraemon since he was young and he never imagined that one day he’ll be given a role in the anime series. What he finds difficult about the voice acting is that expression lies entirely on his voice. Whereas for acting, he can freely express with his face and body.

URL for use on smartphones: http:// sp.pf.mbga.jp/12012891 URL for use on feature phones: http://pf.mbga.jp/12012891 To play the game, however, you will first need to be registered with Mobage. The registration is free and not region-blocked, but you will need to go through a ton of instructions written entirely in Japanese, and send an empty e-mail from your phone. [Via 4Gamer]

Aside from the anime series, Mukai will also take part in Eiga Doraemon: Nobita no Himitsu Dougu Museum which is slated for release on March 9. He is the third actor to make a cameo appearance in Doramon films. Previously, Masaharu Fukuyama and Shun Oguri were given roles in Doraemon: Nobita and the New Steel Troops: ~Angel Wings~ (2011) and Doraemon: Nobita to Kiseki no Shima ~Animal Adventure~ (2012), respectively. Much like their concerts in Japan, English rock music was played through the PA system while fans eagerly awaited the start of the concert. At around 8pm, the music suddenly became louder and all fans stood up & cheered in excitement, as this was a sign that the concert was starting. The lights were dimmed and LUNA SEA members walked on to the stage one by one and took their position.

Luna Sea kicks up a storm with its last leg of its concert tour in Singapore, with suitable weather to match.

LUNA SEA started the concert by performing LOVELESS, a fan favorite opening song which got the crowd going crazy. Throughout the two hour concert, LUNA SEA performed many of their fan favorite hits such as End of Sorrow, True Blue and STORM. Each individual member also dazzled fans with their unique showmanship, with vocalist Ryuichi doing a captivating dance during the song Gravity and Guitarist Sugizo’s beautiful violin solo during the song Providence.

When LUNA SEA disbanded in the year 2000, many JRock fans were devastated. With the disbandment, the dream of seeing LUNA SEA perform live in Singapore was diminished as well. However, a glimmer of hope came on August 31 2010, when the band officially announced their reunion and announced their first concert tour for the first time in ten years. Fast forward to 2012, LUNA SEA announced the aptly titled concert tour “The End of the Dream”. Besides touring in their native country, the band will also do an Asia tour to Taiwan, Hong Kong, Bangkok and finally on February 8 2013, their first ever concert in Singapore. Singapore fans showed their love for LUNA SEA by going to the Star Theatre as early as 7am to start queuing for concert goods & merchandise. Local fans also took part in the fan activities organized by the local fan groups LUNA SEA Singapore Street Team and SLAVE Singapore. Many fans signed & left their messages on the specially prepared banners which were later presented to LUNA SEA personally at the concert.

Even though this is the first time that LUNA SEA is performing at Singapore, the fans were really “high” as you could hear them singing along and doing the hand actions throughout the whole concert. Some of the highlights of the concert have got to be during the song ROSIER, where bassist J did his signature “Mic throw” after his rap. Drummer Shinya also did his signature Drum solo, which had fans shouting out his name whenever he hit the drums. For their encore, LUNA SEA performed I FOR YOU, arguably one of their most famous song which was used as the theme song for the very popular drama God, Please Give me more Time. At the end of the concert, Guitarist Sugizo said to the audience that he promised LUNA SEA will come back again for another concert. If that wasn’t enough, he 5

Players will also be able to equip goddess character avatars on card decks to power them up , and customise these goddess avatars to some extend. JRPG maker Compile Heart, who just recently published the controversial PS Vita moe card battle game Monster Monpiece (that was met with an astounding sell-out success during its launch weekend in Japan), announced today that they’re about to launch yet another moe card battle game. This time sporting one of its hotter properties: Hyperdimension Neptunia. Entitled Neptune Collection, the new card battle game app for iOS and Android devices (limited to devices launched in Japan only; also, not supported on Android tablets) will feature over 300 illustrated cards based on the popular JRPG and soon-to-be-anime series, and sees players finishing quests in order to raise the share value of the faction or world that they pick to be affiliated to.

Perfume’s ‘Mirai no Museum’ PV features the techno-pop group’s members as androids from the year 20XX [Updated] Source: http://sgcafe.com/2013/02/perfumes-mirai-no-museum-pvfeatures-techno-pop-groups-members-androids-year-20xx/ By KarbyP on February 11th, 2013

Are you headed to Japan this July? If you’re a die-hard fan of the Macross franchise, then you might want to save up for a ticket to watch the “Macross Crossover Live 30″ on July 13. At the Tokyo Wonder Festival held yesterday, it has been announced that the musical mecha anime franchise is celebrating its 30th anniversary with a concert featuring songs from various Macross series. A teaser ad was revealed on a break between the performances of Yoshiki Fukuyama and Haruka Chisuga (the contestant who won the 30th Anniversary Miss Macross idol search). The concert will be staged at Halls 1 and 2 of the Makuhari Messe in Chiba prefecture. Performers will include: • Megumi Nakajima (Macross Frontier’s Ranka) • May’n (Sheryl’s singing voice in Macross Frontier) • Chie Kajiura (Mylene’s singing voice in Macross 7) • Yoshiki Fukuyama (provided Basara’s singing voice and guitar work in Macross 7) • Mari Iijima (Macross’ Minmay) • and more!

Update: Universal Music Japan has shared a 15-second spot for the new music video. Original story: Production work on the music video for Japanese techno-pop group Perfume’s 17th single, Mirai no Museum, has been finished. The newly-minted MV, a computer-generated animation with the group’s members inserted via chroma-key, was shown today for the first time to the Japanese press. Hopefully that means we’ll get to see it on the Web any day now. Fingers crossed! In the meantime, Perfume fans may find it interesting to know that the music video – described as a collaboration with anime, which is said to be a first for a Perfume MV – does not feature any of the snappy dancing or choreography work that the Japanese techno-pop group is renowned for. Instead, the video focuses purely on Perfume’s acting skills, as the unit’s members Ayaka Nishiwaki (A-chan), Ayano Omoto (Nocchi) and Yuka Kashino (Kashiyuka) play three “human-type robots” from the year 20XX who travel back in

time to the 19XXs, where they meet a timid young box named “P-ta” (P攻 in Japanese). The trio takes P-ta out on an adventure, during which the boy discovers something important to him, and inadvertently changes his future fate for the better.

The boy’s name “P-ta”, of course, is a reference to Perfume’s official fan club, PTA, as well as Nobita, the main character from Doraemon. Heck, the entire scenario itself is practically a parody of Doraemon which makes sense since Mirai no Museum is the theme song to the 2013 Doraemon movie, after all.

Perfume’s 17th single, Mirai no Museum, goes on sale on February 28 in Japan. For more details on the CD single, check out our previous story here. Source: Oricon

All of the acting in the music video had to be done in front of a bluescreen, since apart from the members and the actor playing P-ta, everything in the music video is CG animation, which Perfume says they hope has brought out a different side to them for fans to see.

‘The Idolm@ster Movie’ announced; here’s a 1st PV and key visual illustration

“This time around there aren’t any dancing parts, so it’s focused entirely on us acting! Furthermore we’ve finally got lasers coming out of our eyes (laughs)!

“It’s the kind of development only possible since this [music video] is a collaboration with anime, so we think it’s really interesting, and that even kids might enjoy themselves watching the video. So please do look out for it!” the members of Perfume said. Other highlights that fans can look forward to in the new MV include the appearance of the costume Perfume’s members wore back in their Spring of Life MV (released in April 2012), as well as the ESP ability they were depicted using in the MV for Spending all my time (August 2012). Mirai no Museum‘s MV also ends with a cool comic book page-flipping visual effect that caps off with a shot of the book’s cover illustration – the very same one used for the single’s limited edition CD jacket.

The Idolm@ster. It started out as a pretty cool idea for a video game. Then came the anime (the one with robots in it). Then the manga. Then more games. More manga. And then another anime – a more literal take, this time without robots. Then three versions of the same game, with different original video animation episodes in them. And now, the Idolm@ster franchise is finally ready to take the next step forward in its quest to dominate all possible media formats. 9

Today at a “The Idolm@ster Music Festiv@l of Winter” concert held at the Makuhari Messe in Chiba, Namco Bandai Games’s Yozo Sakagami (the producer overseeing the entire Im@s franchise) took the stage to announce that The Idolm@ster Movie, an anime film featuring a brand new storyline with never-before-seen aspects of the series characters fans know and love, is currently in production. A promotion video for the movie was then shown at the event, revealing that A-1 Pictures, the studio behind the recent Idolm@ster anime series, is back to helm production on the movie.

Unlike the 37-minute-long US Nintendo Direct livestream broadcast that was going on simultaneously, Japan’s ND broadcast was a lot shorter, coming in at just under 20 minutes. Although both broadcasts featured a lot of the same info, there were a few pleasant surprises here. For starters, only in the Japanese Nintendo Direct broadcast did gamers get to see Shigeru Miyamoto “cosplaying” as Luigi (pictured above), complete with a vacuum cleaner that’s… probably not the Poltergeist 5000 from Luigi’s Mansion. The same new game (and DLC) announcements were made here for the most part. Like their American counterparts, Japanese gamers were told that they’d get Mario & Luigi: Dream Team (Mario & Luigi RPG 4: Dream Adventure, as it’s called over there) and Mario Golf: World Tour on the 3DS this summer. Similarly, it was also announced that New Super Luigi U, a major DLC pack for New Super Mario Bros. U for the Wii U, would be arriving on the Japanese Nintendo e-shop around the same period.

Published by: VR-Zone

No concrete information on the new game was given. Instead, Nintendo showed a brief clip of Barbara chewing out (via written dialogue contained within speech bubbles) Nintendo’s president Satoru Iwata and the rest of Nintendo for calling 2013 the “Year of the Luigi”. She reminds Iwata that they promised gamers a new version of Band Brothers this year, but have yet to talk about it. And so tonight, president Iwata shared a tiny tidbit for the upcoming 3DS rhythm game: they are planning to make it backwards compatible with player-created songs – some 9,000 tracks to date – from the older Nintendo DS version. However, as all of the tracks from the previous version have to be re-entered manually – by hand – into the 3DS version, Iwata says that at launch they may only be able to convert a portion of those user-created tracks, but that they will try to include as many as possible. Following that, Iwata took a moment to speak about the Legend of Zelda MiiVerse community that will be added to the Wii U console, as well as Donkey Kong Country Returns 3D for the 3DS – you’ll find the same info on both titles in the English broadcast. And that’s about it for the Japanese Nintendo Direct broadcast. Before bidding viewers farewell for now, however, president Iwata did mention that next week there will be another Nintendo Direct broadcast for Japan that focuses exclusively on games that will only be released there. So if you own a Japanese 3DS or Wii U, you might want to keep an eye out next week for announcements. In the meantime, watch the full almost-20-minute broadcast archived below:

LovePlus Production’s new project revealed to be ‘FuUn! Nadeshiko Collection’ — a social game Source: http://sgcafe.com/2013/02/loveplus-productions-new-projectrevealed-fu-un-nadeshiko-collection-social-game/

But what was completely left out of the American broadcast was mention of the upcoming Daigassou! Band Brothers game for the 3DS, which I suppose means that as with the previous version on the DS, it’s quite unlikely that this new Band Brothers would show up in English on Western shores.

Fairy Tail Manga to Bundle 5th Original Animation DVD Source: http://sgcafe.com/2013/02/fairy-tail-manga-bundle-5th-dvdpoolside-anime/ By weiq on February 14th, 2013

Fairy Tail’s creator Hiro Mashima has announced on his twitter account that the series will see a fifth OAD (original anime DVD bundled as a bonus included with a manga tankoubon release). The animation will bring to life the series’ 298th chapter, “Dokidoki Ryūzetsu Land,” and Mashima teases on his tweet that it will be “sexier than the regular anime series.” The story is set during the Grand Magic Games when various guilds gather at the pool for some fun (and the chaos that ensues).

This GREE social game from Love Plus producer Akari Uchida and artist Mino十Taro, in which players collect, er, Japanese beauties whose character designs are based on the 47 different prefectures or cities in Japan, was officially launched today. On Valentine’s Day. Konami sure knows their target market well. And that about sums up fun — er, I mean, Fu-Un! Nadeshiko Collection. Watch these trailers, then tell me in the comments what you think. It’s a GREE social game playable on smartphones and feature phones anyway, so unless you already have a Japanese GREE account (these things are region-locked), you won’t be able to access it. In Fu-Un! Nadeshiko Collection, a group of mysterious female antagonists have turned things in Japan topsy turvy – Osaka Castle suddenly made to appear in Tokyo, Mt. Fuji transmogrified into a giant pudding. It’s an unprecedented national crisis. But not to worry! The prime minister has a plan! Call forth the Nadeshiko! Japanese beauties who love their homeland more than anyone, and are thus well-equipped to… combat weirdness! The art is appealing, and the game’s ridiculous plot is pretty intriguing, the voice work stellar. I’m in love with it.

Mashima has also posted an original concept sketch of Natsu from the animation project, to demonstrate the care that the project director is taking with drawing the characters’ faces. More details about the OAD will be provided in a flyer included with 36th tankōbon when it hits the shelves in Japan this Friday, February 15. Source: @Hiro_Mashima

In this week’s issue of Dengeki PlayStation magazine, Gust is teasing fans with a silhouette of a female character who’s wearing a miniskirt and holding in her right hand a magical cane; she could very well be the star of the JRPG maker’s next Atelier game. The tease is a plug for Dengeki Thanksgiving Festival 2013, which will take place once again this year in Akihabara’s Belle Salle event hall (and expanding into the UDX building) on March 17 and 18. All will be revealed at a “Gust presents ‘Atelier 2013′ presentation stage’ on the 17th. Apart from explaining what the silhouette is all about, the presentation will also discuss Atelier Meruru Plusjust before its March 20 Japan release date, with Apprentice of Arland trilogy’s character designer Mel Kishida (Red Data Girl, Hanasaku Iroha) attending as a guest. If the silhouette is indeed a tease for a new Atelier game, this wouldn’t be the first time Gust has chosen to unveil their next game at Dengeki Thanksgiving Festival. Last year they pulled off a similar stunt, teasing fans with a silhouette of an Atelier-esque character for a new game that was at that point referred to as A14, before taking the stage at Dengeki Thanksgiving Festival 2012 on March 18 to announce the new this to be Atelier Ayesha: The Alchemist of Twilight Land, the 14th game in the long-running JRPG franchise. Jinx!!!, starring Tara’s Hyomin, opens simultaneously in theatres across Japan and Asia Autumn 2013 Source: http://sgcafe.com/2013/02/jinx-starring-t-aras-hyomin-openssimultaneously-theatres-japan-asia-autumn-2013/ By KarbyP on February 19th, 2013

Few Japanese movies see the light of day outside of its home country, much less screened simultaneous both in Japan and abroad like director Naoto Kumazawa’s (Kimi ni Todoke live-action) latest film, Jinx!!! – the movie is slated to hit cinemas in Japan, Singapore, Korea, Hong Kong and Taiwan all at the same time come Autumn 2013. Then again, Jinx!!! isn’t your typical Japanese movie. Starring Hyomin, a member of K-Pop idol group sensation T-ara, with co-stars Kurumi Shimizu (Mika Miyabe in The Kirishima Thing, also known as Kirishima, Bukatsu Yamerutteyo) and Kento Yamazaki (Koichi Sakakibara in the live-action adaptation of novel and anime series Another), the movie is a cross-border production that will be shot not only in Japan’s Fukuoka prefecture, but also in South Korea. In Jinx!!!, T-ara’s Hyomin plays the role of university exchange student Ji-Ho, who in turn plays matchmaker to Kurumi Shimizu and Kento Yamazaki’s characters – Kaede and Yusuke respectively – when she notices that the two have feelings for each other.

February 19th, 2013

Her goal of getting Kaede and Yusuke into a relationship will not be easy, however, as the two are not honest with themselves. In fact they’re pretty bad at letting their affection for one another show. That said, Ji-Ho has a plan. One that will culminate in a Korean style romance unfolding between the two Japanese natives, all in the hopes of Kaede and Yusuke finally working up the courage to confess their love for one another and be together.

Evangelion 3.33 BD/DVD to be released on 24 April Source: http://sgcafe.com/2013/02/evangelion-3-33-bddvd-released-24april/ By weiq on February 18th, 2013

Starting February 28, both the 3G/Wi-Fi and Wi-Fi only models of the PlayStation Vita will be sold at retail stores all across Japan for the same price: 19,980 yen (~US$213 or ~S $264). Sony Computer Entertinment Japan announced the price drop, which is 10,000 and 5,000 yen less than the current recommended retail prices for the 3G/Wi-Fi and Wi-Fi models respectively, via a special livestream held earlier today, just a few days shy of the group’s February 20 or 21 (depending on your time zone) unveil of what is likely to be the next-gen PlayStation home console. The third part of Hideaki Anno and Khara’s new Evangelion Quadrilogy will ship on Blu-ray and DVD on 24 April. Similar to the previous films, the third film will be titled “Evangelion: 3.33 You Can (Not) Redo” for its home media release.

Same price with or without 3G?

Both the Blu-ray and DVD release will contain the 95 minutes feature itself, and a special 10 minute “Kyoshinhei Tokyo ni Arawaru” (Giant God Warrior Appears in Tokyo) short by Studio Ghibli. The live-action VFX short was developed by Anno, produced by Studio Ghibli, and was screened alongside with Evangelion: 3.0 You Can (Not) Redo film in theaters. Both home media will also include a Evangelion:3.33 documentary, both the teaser and full trailer, the television commercials, and the “3.33 ver.” of the dialogue recording script. Both versions will have Japanese subtitles.

I personally own one of those SIM-locked 3G/Wi-Fi models, which I got a friend to purchase for me on launch day in Japan. Although I had wanted the cheaper Wi-Fi only model, according to my friend it was sold out everywhere he looked, whereas the 3G/Wi-Fi SIM-locked model was in abundant supply.

The Blu-ray and DVD will be priced at 6,090 yen and 5,985 yen respectively. Each version will come in Digipak packaging with a special box and a description booklet. The first print editions will be bundled with an original soundtrack that includes the theme song “Sakura Nagashi”, sang by Hikaru Utada. Source: evangelion.co.jp/news, kingrecords.co.jp

Why the same price for both the 3G/Wi-Fi and Wi-fi only versions? It may have something to do with the fact that the 3G/Wi-Fi model in Japan is SIM-locked — those sold outside of Japan are SIM-free.

For this reason alone, if Sony decides to announce a price drop for the Vita in the rest of the world, I believe that they 2

February 19th, 2013

will probably maintain some sort of price difference between the 3G/Wi-Fi and Wi-Fi only models. The price drop announced today will apply to all existing PS Vita standalone models in Japan, which comes in the following four colours: Crystal Black, Crystal White, Cosmic Red and Sapphire Blue.

Published by: VR-Zone

Star Online 2 (it’s free-to-play; existing Vita owners can get it free from the Japan PlayStation store), and a code for 1,000 AC or Arkz Cash (PSO2′s paid content currency) for use in the game.

Three PS Vita bundles will also get their prices adjusted in Japan from February 28.

A Starter Pack, which bundles a Crystal Black 3G/Wi-Fi PS Vita with a copy of Minna no Golf 6 and a 4GB memory card, will be sold at 19,980 yen in Japan from that day onwards. Yes, this is the same price as a standalone Crystal Black WiFi or 3G/Wi-Fi model, which does not come with a memory card. Supplies will be limited. Gamers who need more storage space for their digitallypurchased titles can also pick up a Bonus Pack – Crystal Black 3G/Wi-FI PS Vita with 32GB memory card – for 24,980 yen.

AFA 2013 Survey opens today The Soul Sacrifice Premium Edition package that Sony announced last year in December will now be priced at 24,980 yen instead of 29,980 when it comes out March 7.

First, you can voice out your opinions for the next AFA event by telling them about your favorites (anime, seiyuus, artistes, etc.) through the AFA 2013 Survey found here. Second, the organizers are giving away a 300 SGD voucher which allows you to redeem concert tickets from the next event. People from all ages are welcome to participate. The organizers are just asking for a few things. Fill in all fields using the English alphabet (no kanji, no hiragana or katakana). You also need to make sure that the spelling of the titles and names are correct. For artistes, make sure you input their present stage name. Use Wikipedia to verify the information. You wouldn’t want your answer to be considered as void, would you? So check everything first before you hit that “Submit” button. Participants can list up to three favorites in each category. The AFA 2013 Survey officially started today and will end on February 25. So hurry and fill out the online survey form before it’s too late!

Dead or Alive 5 “Fighters’ Pack” DLC: It’s time for the guys to show some skin [Video]

Published by: VR-Zone

Do I appreciate the fanservice though, when a game like Dead or Alive 5 puts its well-endowed characters in sexy swimwear? Yes. Of course I do. It’s fanservice. But I also think about how it makes the ladies feel. So when Tecmo Koei and Team Ninja make DLC like the Fighters’ Pack, which comes out later this month and which depicts the series’ handsome men in MMA tights and grapple gloves, I heartily approve. This one’s for all you womenfolk out there. And for all of you Bayman, Hayabusa, Rig and Jann Lee players who’ve always wanted a character costume choice for when you want to show your opponent that the next fight’s for reals (or not). The Fighters’ Pack character costume DLC for Dead or Alive 5 will hit the PlayStation Network and Xbox Live sometime in February 2013.

Whenever I play a game like Dead or Alive 5, I always think about how it makes the women in my life (my mother) feel. It’s great – and rare – when a fighting game like Dead or Alive has more female characters than the male ones.

Metal Gear Rising: Reveangence is scheduled to hit Singapore’s local game stores and outlets tomorrow, and what better way to show your true Metal Gear and Ninja spirit than to wear it. As such, the local branches of Uniqlo brought in some of the shirts released just nice for the occasion! The Metal Gear UT is hitting Uniqlo stores today. You can browse the various designs here and get yours at $24.90 at any outlet.

But did I ever asked for scantily-clad babes in my fighting games? Nope. Never. At least, it wasn’t me. I’m fine with my female fighters being fully clothed and dressed like my auntie (okay, maybe not that last part).

Previously catering to the Anison crowd, Mizuki Nana has been made mainstream due to her involvement in Music Japan as the program’s narrator as well as the prestigious Red-White song battle held in Japan every new year’s eve. Her popularity is unmatched both in the Anison and the J-pop music scene, frequently hitting the top 5 single and album sales on Oricon’s weekly charts. The King Records artiste has performed in numerous live concerts within Japan, and a mainstay in the largest Anison concert in Japan, also known as Animelo Summer Live, or Anisama Live for short. Mizuki Nana is also an established voice actress, with her most popular role as Fate T. Harlaown in the hit anime series Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha. T.M. Revolution has previously performed at Singapore’s largest anime convention, Anime Festival Asia last year. The flamboyant Takanori Nishikawa belted out numerous classic anime songs, from Gundam SEED to Rurouni Kenshin, and even Sengoku BASARA. Do you consider yourself loyal to the Lacoste brand? If you happen to be a fan of Osamu Tezuka’s works at the same time, you might want to check out the upcoming collection by Lacoste. Astro Boy and the rest of the works by Osamu Tezuka are getting a clothing collection from Lacoste this year. The famous fashion line collaborated with Tezuka Productions and Japanese designer Hiroaki Ohya to create a collection of shirts, polos and footwear that feature various works by the “Godfather of Anime”. What inspired Ohya to create designs of the clothing line was a quote from Osamu Tezuka in a book entitled 201 Words That Help You to Open Up a Path to the Future. “Humans have had three dreams since the dawn of time. One is flight, another is transformation and the last is communicating with animals and nature,” according to Tezuka. For the Spring/Summer 2013 collection, The Mysterious Underground Man (representing flight), Astro Boy (representing transformation) and Black Jack (representing communication with nature) were featured. This collection will be released in May. The Fall/Winter 2013-2014 collection, on the other hand, features The Phoenix (representing flight), Crime and Punishment (representing transformation) and Jungle Emperor Leo a.k.a. TBS’ official page for Yahari Ore no Seishun Love Come wa Machigatteiru has revealed that the upcoming TV anime will premiere on April 4 in Japan. This romantic comedy series was adapted from a light novel by Wataru Watari, with illustrations drawn by Ponkan8. The story is about Hachiman Hikigaya, an unsociable high school student with a corrupted concept about life. He neither has friends, nor a girlfriend. Every time he sees his classmates happily chatting about their adolescence, he would mutter about them being a bunch of liars. He is then advised by his teacher to join the volunteer service club. Among its members is Yukino Yukinoshita, the prettiest girl of their school. Cast Information:

Sony’s next-gen games console will indeed be called the PlayStation 4 (PS4). The high-power games console will come with a redesigned Dual Shock 4 controller, stream PS4 games to the PS Vita (remote play) via Gaikai technology, and places an improved emphasis on social network integration by allowing games to share clips of their gameplay – with a touch of a button. Dual Shock 4 The design on the Dual Shock 4 controller has changed drastically from its predecessors.

• Takuya Eguchi (Kuroko’s Basketball’s Shinji Koganei) as Hachiman Hikigaya • Saori Hayami (Bakuman’s Miho Azuki) as Yukino Yukinoshita • Nao Touyama (Oreshura’s Mana Natsukawa) as Yui Yuigahama • Mikako Komatsu (K’s Neko) as Saika Totsuka • Nobuyuki Hiyama (One Piece’s Mr. 3) as Yoshiteru Zaimokuza • Aoi Yuuki (Kiiro Sakuradai from Mangirl!) as Komachi Hikigaya • Ryouka Yuzuki (Ino Yamanaka from Naruto) as Shizuka Hiratsuka Yahari Ore no Seishun Love Come wa Machigatteiru is directed by Ai Toshimura, with the series composition by Shotaro Suga and the character design by Yuu Shindou. position in 3D space, which the PS4 will detect using a sensor bar with two depth-sensing cameras. Sony also wanted to provide a more solid feel with when it comes to the new Dual Shock’s shoulder buttons (L1, L2, R1 and R2), and thus have made adjustments to them as well as the analog sticks. On top of the regular PlayStation buttons that fans grew up with, there will also now be a new “Share” button that activates a one-touch video clip recording function that will allow gamers to share gameplay clips with their friends without the need of purchasing expensive video-capture hardware.

There will also be a hard disk drive on which gamers will be able to store their content on, but Sony did not reveal the specs of the PS4’s HDD today. Other features Prior to the PS4’s unveiling, many analysts and industry watchers speculated that Sony was likely planning on using Gaikai’s streaming technology to provide instantaneous, noinstall-necessary, HD quality gaming experiences – brand new PS4 titles, or older PS3, PS2 and PS1 games as a means to provide backwards compatibility – to consumers. The games would be streamed from Sony’s servers to the consumers’ PS4, they had thought. When Dave Perry, CEO of Gaikai, took the stage to show off what his company will be doing for the PS4, he revealed that Sony’s strategy was actually less traditional: its technology will be used to turn each gamer’s PS4 into a personal server that can stream full-fledged PS4 titles onto the PS Vita, so that consumers may play even when a family member wants to use the TV for other purposes – a move to close the gap in terms of features between the PS4 and Nintendo’s Wii U console.

Finally, a headphone jack is also found on each Dual Shock 4 controller.

Not every PS4 title will be playable through this feature – remote play – on the PS Vita at launch. But Perry says that their “longterm goal is to make every PS4 game playable on the PS Vita using local Wi-fi.” The team will work on reducing transmission time from PS4 to Vita, so that gamers won’t feel any lag when using the feature. Other features on the PS4 include a built-in social networkesque service that will – like the Wii U’s MiiVerse – allow fellow PS4 gamers to interact, ask for game tips, and share their sagely advice on games they’ve played. But what about the games? And how much will I have to pay? Price and release details for the PlayStation 4 were not shared today. However, Sony brought out an entire slew of game developer and publishing partners to show off some of the games they’ve been working on, that will come to the PS4. Here are their respective trailers: inFAMOUS: Second Son Killzone Shadow Fall Deep Down DriveClub

PlayStation 4 Specs Unlike the Wii U, it’s not just the new controller that defines Sony’s PS4; the console’s specs are no slouch either. The PS4’s “supercharged architecture” packs an X86 CPU – picked because game developers said they found the architecture easy to develop for – an enhanced GPU chip, and 8GB of unified DDRAM5 for both the CPU and GPU to share.

This upcoming figure was originally a garage kit produced by Chieri (the sculptor behind the Sheryl Nome figure exhibited at the Wonder Festival last February 10) 16 years ago. The 1/10th scale PVC figure is based on an Oh My Goddess! illustration which was launched as a pinup poster. From Holy Bell’s wings to Belldandy’s dress, the details are downright impressive. The gentle and lovely smile on Belldandy’s face does justice to her amiable character. The figure is priced at 19,800 JPY (262 SGD). Just take my money already, 5pb. This Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 visual novel (which also goes by Steins;Gate Senkei Kousoku no Phenogram) is a day-one purchase from me, something I decided pretty much the moment it was announced. But if you’ve interested in the series, can read enough Japanese to make sense of the plot (make no mistake, 99% of the gameplay here involves scanning text with your eyes and hitting a button to make more text appear), yet are still sitting on the fence as to whether you should pick up Linear Bounded Phenogram or not, then maybe the game’s OP, which 5pb has kindly shared this week, might help you decide. Hopefully the rest of the game will be as good as this eyecatching OP, which features a mix of 2D animation and liveaction footage of real-life Akihabara, the game’s setting. Steins;Gate Linear Bounded Phenogram is a sequel to god-like-visual-novel-turned-god-like-anime Steins;Gate. A sequel that explores the lives of its protagonists and supporting cast after the crisis in the first instalment – revolving around time-travel and SERN (a fictional, pleasedon’t-sue-me reference to the European Organization for Nuclear Research) – has been resolved.

This is as opposed to a previous sequel, entitled Steins;Gate Hiyoku Renri no Darling, that told a story taking place in a parallel universe. As the Xbox360 version of Hiyoku Renri was launched during the week that episode 11 of the anime series first aired, Hiyoku Renri no Darling’s story had to start shortly before that point in the anime. A point where protgagonist Rintarou Okabe had not even ben done with recruiting all of his precious harem lab members. Only five more weeks to go before the game drops! BioShock Infinite (PC, PS3, X360) hits retail stores on March 26 here in Singapore. Pricing and limited edition details for the Singapore market are as follows: Standard Edition – SGD 74.90 on all platforms Premium Edition – SGD 99.90 on all platforms • 64 page art book • Lithographic Print • Handyman Figurine • Murder of Crows KeyChain • DLC – digital soundtrack and Gear pack Songbird Edition – SGD 189.00 on all platforms • Songbird statue • 64 page art book • Lithographic Print • Handyman Figurine • Murder of Crows KeyChain

I fell in love with BioShock Infinite’s Elizabeth pretty much at first sight. It was hard not to. There’s something about Elizabeth’s unbridled curiosity (this is a lady who’s been trapped in a tower all her life. after all) that’s infectious and incredibly uplifting. But now, I’m afraid of her. For the same reasons that BioShock Infinite’s hero Booker Dewitt is afraid of her as well, most likely. I don’t actually know – I haven’t played the full game yet (outside of the first two-and-a-half hours). So I have absolutely no idea what BioShock Infinite’s latest trailer, entitled Lamb of Columbia, might be foreshadowing. See if you can tell:

• DLC – digital soundtrack and Gear pack Singapore outlets to pre-order Bioshock Infinite standard and limited editions include: • Comics Connection • Funzcentre • Gamescore • GameXtreme • HMV • Scenic Multimedia & Gamemartz • Seow Choon • Zepy Games

SD Sazabi to release May this year Source: http://sgcafe.com/2013/02/sd-sazabi-release-year/ By sentinel011 on February 26th, 2013

From the images, posability is typical for standard SD gunpla kits these days. It is especially similar to BB #303 Sangokuden Giga Taifu Shiba-i Sazabi in terms of posability and detailing. But of course, this updated variant looks stockier than its previous generations. Serious kit builders will have some patching up to do. According to the images, there are long seam lines along the legs and the back of the head. There are no other discernible seam lines, though. The kit comes with the following accessories: - Beam Shot Rifle This renewal version of the original SD Sazabi released almost 14 years ago is back in a much attractive design. Granted that it is SD (short for Super Deformed), the proportions of this renewal Sazabi looks much better than the 1999 counterpart. According to Hobbysearch, this Sazabi will have an escape pod, very much like the actual Mobile Suit. The monoeye is movable, allowing you to fiddle with a variety of menacing poses. There’s even Funnel effect parts to simulate Funnel deployment from its container, as well as Beam Tomahawk effects. The funnel container supposedly has an opening mechanism, but no official images released for that part. The Beam Tomahawk can be stowed away into the shield. Unfortunately, there is no mention of the beam saber parts or options available for the kit.

- Shield - Beam Tomahawk - Funnels - Effect parts (Funnel deployment, Tomahawk beam) The SD Sazabi Renewal is slated for a May 2013 release. Hobbysearch suggests shipments will arrive in Mid May. Now, will Bandai release a renewal version of the Master Grade Sazabi, or a renewal version of the SD Nu Gundam? After all, the Master Grade Nu Gundam Ver. KA sold pretty well everywhere around the world (given the huge amount of kit builders showcasing their MG Nu works). Source: Hobbysearch

Vampire Night manga about to reach its end Source: http://sgcafe.com/2013/02/vampire-night-manga-reach/ By ellehaym on February 25th, 2013

Hatsune Miku’s versatility is impressive. She’s been on ads and she’s even a racing queen! Now, her exposure has branched out to the Japanese movie industry. The twin-tailed virtual diva gets selected to sing for Takashi Murakami’s first film, Mememe No Kurage. This marks the first time for a Vocaloid to perform for a movie’s opening theme.

Last year, mangaka Matsuri Hino announced about Vampire Knight’s final arc. It was finally launched last month, and LaLa magazine has revealed that the production of the manga will cease on May 24. Readers will witness the ending in the July issue of the monthly shoujo magazine. Vampire Night was serialized nine years ago. An anime adaptation was aired, consisting of two seasons, back in 2008. The story centers on Yuki Cross, a high school student prefect who wants to prove that humans and vampires can live in harmony. She attends a school where humans attend the day class and vampires attend the night class. Her duty is to protect the secret of the night class students by watching the school grounds at night. Are you excited about how Vampire Knight will end? Source: mon0r

Miku’s Last Night, Good Night was selected for the film. This song produced by kz was released five years ago. Murakami specifically requested it as the theme song and it was rearranged especially for the movie.

Drama CD ‘Diabolik Lovers’ receives an anime adaptation Source: http://sgcafe.com/2013/02/popular-drama-cd-diabolik-loversreceives-anime-adaptation/ By ellehaym on February 22nd, 2013

Even after Sony’s press event for the PlayStation 4, there are still plenty of reasons to be ecstatic about PlayStation 3 games. Among them is the launch of three Nippon Ichi Software (NIS) games to the North American and European markets—all are PS3 exclusives.

Disgaea Dimensions 2: A Brighter Darkness This tactical RPG is slated for release in Japan in about a month, with a western launch scheduled this fall. Disgaea Dimensions 2: A Brighter Darkness shares the same graphical style as Disgaea 4 and is rumoured to be Disgaea: Hour of Darkness’ direct sequel. This release is part of a back to back celebration: the 20th anniversary of NIS and the 10th anniversary of the Disgaea franchise. DLCs will be launched after the game’s release.

Attention ladies! If bishies and vampires are just a few of your favorite things, then it’s time to get excited. Diabolik Lovers, the popular drama CD franchise in Japan, opened up a website announcing that it will receive an anime adaptation. Diabolik Lovers garnered popularity and success as a drama CD. Its otome game for the PSP was released last year. This 2013, the handsome and sadistic vampire brothers are coming to the small screen to prey on charm the ladies. The cast from the drama CD are retained for the anime: Ayato Sakamaki is voiced by Hikaru Midorikawa

Time and Eternity This game was released in the latter part of 2012 in Japan and will hit shelves this summer in Europe and North America. The characters were drawn using cel animation which makes Time and Eternity (a.k.a. Toki to Towa) the “first high-definition animation RPG”. The game is set in a place called Kamza and opens up with a male protagonist about the marry Toki, the princess of the kingdom. The main focus of the plot, however, is the alter-ego of the princess named Towa.

The Guided Fate Paradox Known as Kamisama to Unmei Kakumei no Paradox (KamiPara) in Japan, this game will also launch in the west this fall. This RPG features roguelike gameplay, so expect dungeons that are randomly generated and tons of customizations.

When in doubt, mash F+LIf you are thinking an enemy is about to attack, mash F+L. Even if you missed, you can be sure that your opponent will get hit if he isn’t attacking. Dive is homing; abuse it If you can’t see your opponent, use Dive [(Air) F+H]. Locking-on to your opponentsDuring boss fights that have other grunts in the battle scene, always have a lock onto the bosses by pressing the back right shoulder button. The icon on the boss will be orange during lock-on status. And that’s about all we have to share with you guys. Have fun and Cut what you will!

Air Hike 1 is available from the start, but requires a lead time and often misses the target as your opponent recovers and shifts to the side. Air Hike 2 requires BP points to purchase. You may replace any Air Hike 1 move with Air Hike 2 in any of your combos. Purchase your moves early as early as possibleHave you gotten the hang of parrying? Good. To make your battles even easier, purchase as many High Frequency Blade moves as possible with your BP points. Our favourite moves are Air Hike 2 and Slide, as they make the Zandatsu window much more manageable. Slide your way out of enemiesIf you ever get into a sticky situation with 3 or more grunts, always run away with Ninja Run (Hold R1 when moving) first until you find an opening to use Zandatsu as you slide. Always try to slice horizontally by pressing the Light attack button while activating your Zandatsu. The magazine also reveals that Akane Isshiki, the lead character, will be featured in this adaptation. Officially, Neptune is the main protagonist and star of the Hyperdimension Neptunia JRPG series. At least, that’s what the design documents over at Compile Heart, the games’ developer, say. But ask any of the series’s fans, and they’ll tell you, unanimously, a truth different from that of the official documents: the real star of the Neptunia series is actually Nepgear, Neptune’s younger sister. No offense, Nepnep. But your younger sister is just so much more likeable.

Thank the goddesses, then, that studio David Production has revealed this week that Nepgear and the rest of the console goddesses’ younger sisters – Uni (a personification of Sony’s PSP), Rom and Ram (twins who together rep the Nintendo DS) – will be making an appearance in the JRPG series’s forthcoming TV anime adaptation. I’m not sure if the anime would be worth watching if they were cut from the show. David Production (the folks behind TV anime JoJo’s Bizaree Adventure) has also shared some character design illustrations to show fans what the sisters will more or less look like in the upcoming anime. Note that these character design illustrations are tentative, and may not be a 100% accurate representation of the final character designs used. Nepgear (CV: Yui Horie) Ram (CV: Kaori Ishihara)

And here are the character designs for the elder sisters (plus Vert, who’s a single child) in Hyperdimension Neptunia the Animation: Neptune and her goddess alter-ego Purple Heart (CV: Rie Tanaka). They’re a personification for a non-existent Sega console, the Sega Neptune.

It’s about time anime companies make a move to deliver the popular, new and upcoming titles via internet streaming. Asatsu-DK (ADK), along with Toei Animation, Aniplex, Sunrise, TMS Entertainment, Nihon Ad Systems (NAS) and Dentsu as subsidiaries of the new venture, has opened Daisuki.net. The services will launch this April. Daisuki.net has revealed a few titles they plan to offer to overseas anime fans. Puella Magi Madoka Magica, Mobile Suit Gundam, One Piece, Lupin the 3rd and Prince of Tennis are just some of the titles mentioned in the site’s press release. According Nikkei, a financial newspaper in Japan, over 500 titles will be hosted and translated on the website. New anime series that are aired simultaneously in Japan will also be offered by Daisuki.net. Just like any other legal streaming site, Daisuki.net will generate income through advertisements and fees. As of the moment, nothing is disclosed about the charges. Aside from a stable stream of content, it will also have its own online shop that will sell anime goods and merchandise.

The first full-fledged PV for Summon Night 5, from developer Felistella (the folks behind Record of Agarest War: Marriage), has been posted on the Web, courtesy of Famitsu.com This is a JRPG series with a long and proud history behind it. Unfortunately, it’s not a history that I’m personally familiar with, but that hasn’t stopped me from being impressed by the game’s PV. Sure, it’s yet another PSP JRPG that totally would have benefited from the extra graphical horsepower present on the PS Vita. But even as a PSP title, I find myself digging the game’s fluid animations, visually-interesting characters, and wildly imaginative universe. See if you don’t agree:

Now, the biggest question is the regions that are covered by their services. They did mention “overseas video delivery”, but no particular region was mentioned. Who knows? It may even be the saving grace for anime fans from countries that have region blocks in legal streaming websites. As for the ones who have regular subscriptions in sites such as Crunchyroll, since Japanese anime companies are directly involved, licensing agreements might be affected in the future. Are you excited about what Daisuki.net has to offer? Visit the Daisuki.net English site here. Sources: Daisuki.net Press Release and Nikkei

We have explained some useful tips and tricks on our own a couple of days back. This time, we scoured the internet for you for various tips and tricks, as well as unlockables and different blades you can unlock throughout the game. *Spoilers* beyond this point involves content spoilers, so spare yourself if you do not wish to ruin your gaming experience. Unless you absolutely love spoilers. Youtube user MasterLL seems to grasp Metal Gear Rising very well, having completed Revengeance mode on S rank throughout within a week. Here, he shows how players can gain unlimited BP by using the Customize option exploit, which allows you to purchase powerful weapons, skills and upgrades early in the game. He has also shows players on how to defeat the last boss without any damage. So if you have not a single nanopaste left with you prior to this boss battle, this video is just the thing for you. And here are some of the unlockable blades you can obtain in Revengeance. Some require DLC purchases, though. 00:00 - High-Frequency Blade (BP Cost: 0) Its metallic structure strengthened by an alternating current, this blade resonates such that it weakens the particle bonds of whatever it cuts. Its effectiveness is further boosted in Blade Mode, which consumes energy but enables highspeed attacks. Customized by Doktor to absorb fuel-cell electrolytes from its victims. 00:56 - Stun Blade (BP Cost: 20,000)

• Effect Enhancement – An upgraded version of Raiden’s cyborg body firmware that retunes and optimizes his use of the High-Frequency Wooden Sword, improving the odds that every hit could knock an enemy unconscious. How to unlock: Find all Men-in-Boxes. 04:55 - High-Frequency Murasama Blade (BP Cost: 10,000) A notorious blade passed down through generations of the Rodrigues family. Sam had it modified into a high-frequency blade, enhancing the already astonishing properties of the original metal and giving it an ominous crimson glow. An explosive charge housed in the scabbard enables a lightningquick draw. How to unlock: Beat the game on any difficulty. 05:54 - High-Frequency Machete (BP Cost: 5000) A high-frequency knife modeled after the machetes common to Central and South America. Although it has a slightly shorter reach than a typica high-frequency blade, the HF Machete can be swung more quickly. Plus, it goes great with the Mariachi Uniform… How to unlock: Collect 10 data storage items. 07:04 - FOX Blade (BP Cost: 200,000) The high-frequency Blade used by ex-FOXHOUND field agent Frank Jaeger, a.k.a. Gray Fox, after he was outfitted in a cyborg ninja chassis by Dr. Clark. Gray Fox’s soul still echoes through the blade, sometimes enabling it to cut clean through enemies, armor and all. 8

• FOX Blade Effect Enhancement (BP Cost: 100,000) An updated version of Raiden’s cyborg body firmware that retunes his use of the Fox Blade based on battle data taken from Gray Fox himself. It improves the odds that every strike could penetrate enemy armor.

Rockman Ultrabook: vote for your favourite design [Japan Only] Source: http://sgcafe.com/2013/02/rockman-ultrabook-vote-for-yourfavourite-design/ By KarbyP on February 26th, 2013

From now till March 4, fans can vote for the design they want to see used for the actual Rockman Ultrabook itself. You’ll be able to cast your vote once per day. Aside from the four designs, you can also submit your own ideas on what the ideal Rockman Ultrabook top cover artwork should be, by selecting a fifth option (the one with a giant question mark on it) in the poll. Do note, however, that you’ll need to get your thoughts – character, and design treatment – to the Rockman Ultrabook organisers via written Japanese. After the first round of polling ends on March 4, there will be two additional rounds, taking place from March 5 to 11, and from March 12 to 18. It is unclear if these second and third rounds will feature designs different from the initial polling period. In any case, once the final designs have been decided upon, pre-orders for the Rockman Ultrabook in Japan will begin March 29, and stay open all the way till the end of May. The laptops themselves are tentatively scheduled to be delivered to customers at the end of July.

Whatever the winning design is, I just hope that this Rockman Ultrabook thing will actually materialise. Since, you know, the last time fans got to vote on something Rockman/Mega Man (*cough* *cough*Legends3 *cough*), the entire project got cancelled. Anyway, that shouldn’t be the case here; according to builtto-order PC maker Unitcom (the folks doing all the heavy lifting here), they’ve already acquired the license to make these Rockman Ultrabooks. It’s been green-lit. All machines are go.

And in case you’re wondering, yes, this is Japan-only. So if you plan on getting one of these babies, you’ll probably need a Japanese shipping address, as well as a whole lot of patience to stomach Windows in moon language (or reinstall Windows altogether). Still, pretty cool that Rockman Ultrabooks are even happening in the first place. Which design will you vote for? Source: Rockman-Ultrabook.com [via 4Gamer]

Today the official Rockman Unity blog (not to be confused with Capcom Unity) announced a commemorative Rockman Ultrabook production project that will see the blue bomber – or one of his other co-stars in the video games – grace the top cover of a 14.1″, 19mm-slim Intel Ultrabook, running on a 3rd-generation CPU. The Rockman Ultrabook will weigh 1.67kg, and uses SSD storage for super-fast boot-up speeds. Although the specs for the laptop are more or less finalised, the top-cover design itself has yet to be – that part is up to you.
