Bramwell on Bernstein Thu, Jun 4, 7.00–8.30pm Leonard Bernstein had an astonishingly varied career as a passionate conductor, pianist, teacher and composer – a career mirrored today by VSO Music Director Bramwell Tovey, who was once a student of “Lenny”. Bramwell takes us through the songs, story, characters, and the critical success and initial box office failure of Bernstein’s witty comic operetta Candide. He will also be sharing his personal experience and insider anecdotes on one of the 20th century’s most beloved Maestros, and his enduring legacy to both classical and popular music.
