About Us

AHGRS

From Principal's Desk Greetings from Ashok Hall Girls’ Residential School, Majkhali ! Another fruitful and progressive academic session of Ashok Hall is over as the second term of the session 2021-2022 comes to an end. It was a session full of action, challenges, enthusiastic participation and successes. During the second term, the Annual Day was held virtually as the Covid-19 Pandemic has brought about a lot of challenges before us. However, the students showcased their talents and kept the audience spellbound with their performance. The students also participated in many Inter-School and Intra-School activities. Apart from that, Hindi Divas, Teachers Day, Children’s Day and Diwali were some of the fun-filled and festive celebrations at school. I extend my heartfelt gratitude to our patrons and management for their unconditional support and countless blessings that helped us to sail smoothly throughout the year.

Kudos to our talented teachers for their unflinching dedication towards the students and unwavering commitment to academics. I want to extend my heartiest thanks to all the parents for their constant support and having their faith in us. I believe that our joint efforts will not only take this institution to greater heights but also inspire our children to be future ready. Wishing you all a Happy and Prosperous New Year 2022! Please be sure to take time as family to talk, play and read together. Hemant Kumar Rai Principal Ashok Hall Girls’ Residential School

From a Hallite's Heart “If your world looks gloomy and you are feeling grim and glum, Make a rainbow for yourself, Don’t wait for one to come, Don’t sit for watching at the window for the clouds to part, There’ll soon be a rainbow if you start one in your heart.” This is exactly what I was told when I entered the boundaries of this school as a little girl of thirteen years. My journey as a student of this school started in April 2017. The day I first stepped into the premises of this prestigious institution, it was very unique yet a usual starting point. It was just as I had expected it to be- a fairly lonely starting point. I had no friends. I was totally riddled at first. Every statement of mine was retracted that day. A lot of deviation caused retrogression in me. The preamble of being a proud Hallite started from that very day. I believe that in the story of my life, the chapter of this school is going to be the most beautiful one. Now I am in class XII and the transformation in me is incredible. The duty of Discipline In-charge of the school is obviously a noble one and the day when I came to know that I have been selected for this duty, I felt like a happy bird chirping at dawn. It was like a dream come true.

Dhatri Gupta [XII]

I would like to take this opportunity to thank all my teachers and my juniors who trusted me. In the course of the year I tried to pull out all my hidden qualities out of confinement and chime like a bell. My entire journey in the school will always be the golden period of my life. Ashok Hall, my home away from home, has given me so much that I don’t even know where to start from if I have to talk about it. I have learned so much in the course of these five years. I have grown to be someone significant. After all….Dedicated, Smart, Fearless, Strong, Eager to change the world, Willing to stay up late and awake before dawn to pursue their passion…are what Hallites are! In another few months I will embark on a new journey leaving my school life behind but the memories of this school will last forever. All those laughter, smiles, fun and even scolding and every crest and troughs are like carvings on stone for me. I will miss my second home !

Annual Day: The Quest [Anvesha Dubey XI]

3rd October has always been a precious day in the lives of all the Hallites. Although there was a lot that was on hold due to Covid-19, the excitement for our annual day was something beyond limits. This time it was altogether a different and new experience of presenting a virtual show that included acting, dance, music and singing. With situations forcing us to choose the reels, the Hallites did not deter from making use of it to the fullest.

We came up with our own idea of the plot replete with adventures that brought goosebumps in the viewers. The presentation almost akin to a movie was titled The Quest. Right from day 1 of its inception, the students were involved with full enthusiasm and enjoyed every bit of being a part of it making it worth watching. Now, if you have watched the presentation, you already know what I mean, but if you still haven’t watched it, I would advise you to take some popcorns and make a nice trip to the jungles!

Students productively portrayed their characters and were successful in conveying the messages they wanted to. Red house seized the first position in the competition and positively spread the message of ‘importance of COVID – 19 vaccines’ while Yellow house, bagging the second prize, confidently conveyed the message of ‘body shaming and its effect on an individual’. Withering Away

A Jolly Fellow

-Madhumita Seal [VIII]

-Anusha Dubey [VIII]

Why would you wither away? When I froze you in time. The spring has just begun, And yet you shrink down like those maple leaves out there. The sun barely reaches you, Your skin has turned pale against those vibrant walls; You keep running on the fields of daisies, Barefoot yet you never stop. Your soul reeks of empathy, And your eyes are filled with sorrow, Yet you hum like a bird, Who travelled miles apart. You are not the angel I know; But you are the nymph from my dreams, Whose smile solicits the nature, With a never ending beauty. So tell me why would you wither away? When I froze you in time; Diverged in to the split seconds, Was our fates struck in line.

There was a jolly fellow once Who rode down by the river He sat down and he quenched his thirst And almost got shot by an arrow, Over the hills and far away The tribes were marching forward Over the hills and far away They just kept on marching forward; There was a jolly fellow once Who froze there by the arrow He saw a tall man standing there With a large brown bow and arrow, He asked his health and bowed to him In order to say he's sorry He then told bout his whereabouts And just then they couldn't stop talking Over the hills and far away The cows were grazing forward Over the hills and far away They became the best of friends out of all ones.

Elaborate your Problem -Hansika Jaiswal [X]

We as a participant of the generation Z are going through enormous problems every day, sometimes it’s about family, friends or foe. We are so jumbled with everything that’s going inside us that tears are all we are left with at the end of the day. If our problems were to get likes on Instagram then it would have been a different ballgame altogether. However, here the bigger problem is what to wear and what to type so that we get likes, what to wear so that the double chins and stomach tires are not visible. Our boring life behind that smile and pose is not overt and obviously the dark huge under eyes are hidden with the best filters we can find.

You know what, well, this is not actually the problem. The problem is that we are crying for something like love and attention and crave for some people who can listen to us. Sometimes we are so confused because we feel everything that we are seeing online is the perfect thing and that assumption is the root of all unnecessary expectations from ourselves at the end of the day.

What if we discussed the problems with one another by keeping our egos aside! It’s often said that we should put ourselves in another person’s shoes in order to have a better understanding and perspective and that’s what people of generation Z should be looking for. Do message me if you find such a person, my name must be somewhere on the page.

Prom Night: The Farewell

November 26, 2021 was one of the most eventful days for the students of class XII. Starting from the early morning coffee and cookies served to us on our beds by class XIs to a delicious farewell dinner, everything about that day is so vivid in our minds and I am sure will remain so forever. It was a day when smile seemed to be our everlasting friend. The theme of this year's farewell party was 'Prom Night' and the best thing to add charm to the party was the dress code- 'gowns and tuxedoes. It was one of the best days I have ever spent in Ashok Hall. Although, we will be moving out of this school life to explore the new college world, but the memories that we carry of our beloved alma-mater - its people, its ambience, and most importantly the love and care we were bestowed with will remain so throughout our lives.
