Kathy Lindekens graduated as a translator at RUCA, University of Antwerp, in 1977. In 1989, she founded the cancer research fundraiser Kom op tegen Kanker and was president of the non-profit of the same name until 1995. In 2004, she established the nonprofit Bednet, which allows long-term sick children to be virtually present in their classroom. Between 1995 and 2003, she was a parliamentarian and an alderman, before rejoining the VRT. Today, she is still a member of the Board of Kom op tegen Kanker and is Chairwoman of Bednet.

Kathy Lindekens has highlighted a number of socially relevant research areas for discussion with the Oncology Research Center of VUB and UZ Brussel. She will offer guest lectures to share her expertise and insights on topics such as the problems faced by adolescents. She can also provide communication and media training and act as a consultant on science communication.
