The Alberta Metal Fab Innovation [AMFI] Program Development of Alberta’s energy resources remains the most significant driver of the provincial economy. As energy market supply chains become global, Project Owners must consider modern technologies to ensure the sustainability and reliability of current and future operations. EPC Firms must incorporate innovate materials and fabrication methodologies to ensure timely and cost effective project (and mega-project) execution. Alberta Fabricators face workforce challenges and growing global competition. Hence, the awareness of welding engineering principles and modern technologies, and the latest in supply chain development is of significant value for the entire supply chain.

[AMFI] is offered throughout the province via engaging workshops that offer classroom instruction coupled with interactive hands-on equipment demonstrations with the latest fabrication & automation technologies, welding engineering principles and modern applications. Technical sessions are completed by Alberta Innovates - Technology Futures (AITF) and the U of A’s Canadian Centre for Welding and Joining (CCWJ). In addition, Productivity Alberta conducts sessions on how to be part of the energy sector supply chain, and how to make your existing supply chains function more efficiently.

The [AMFI] Program structure is shown in the figure below. The “Welding & Fabrication Technology Modules” and “Supply Chain Development Modules” are completed as separate programs streams. You can register for both the Supply Chain and Technical streams, or choose only one. Registrants of Supply Chain Modules may participate in each session individually, or both.
