AVAILABLE IN VULCAN Fall Semester 2011 Begin or continue your Early Childhood Education program in the Fall of 2011. Students can attend the college part time through evening courses while having the freedom to work during the day. Students can also complete courses independently through our Distributed Learning courses.

EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATION PSY 170 V91 Human Development Across the Lifespan (3 credits) This course is an introduction to the study of human development across the lifespan. Major theories of development will be presented with emphasis on the sequence of psychological and social growth. Developmental changes that occur in the physical, emotional, cognitive, and social areas will be examined. Not available for supplemental. Application Processing Fee: $60. Dates: Thursdays, Sept 8 – Dec 8, 2011 Times: 6:30-8:30 pm Tuition: $271.17 Textbooks: TBA Academic requirements: Alberta High School diploma or equivalent, with a minimum of 60 per cent in English Language Arts (ELA) 30-1 or a minimum of 65 per cent in ELA 30-2 and 60 per cent in Social Science 30 or 33 (psychology, sociology or social studies). Applicants may also be required to achieve a minimum of 60th percentile in reading comprehension, sentence skills and arithmetic sections of placement testing or equivalent. Students without the academic requirements can apply as alternate admission candidates.

SPECIAL NEEDS EDUCATION ASSISTANT ECE 159 V01 Children with Special Needs (3 credits) This course is an introduction to children with special needs. It presents an overview of the various developmental disabilities and their characteristics. Early intervention, individual planning and the needs of the family will be discussed. Not available for supplemental. Equivalent to RSP 157. Application Processing Fee: $60.00 Dates: Mondays, Sept. 12-Dec. 5, 2011 Time: 4-6:50 p.m. Tuition: $271.17 Textbooks: TBA Note: This course will be of interest to individuals working toward their Early Childhood Education credential as well.
