True Crime Exposed:

Examining the Elements of Forensic Science February 7, 2019 at 10:00 am – 2:30 pm

Join us for the Mayborn Museum’s fifth annual Director’s Forum featuring Skip Hollandsworth, Executive Editor of Texas Monthly and author of The Midnight Assassin. This year’s Director’s Forum is a collaboration of the Baylor University Department of Anthropology, McLennan College’s Criminal Justice department, and community partners to bring an intriguing and immersive event filled with conversations, activities, and a panel discussion focused on historic crimes and the role forensic science has played in solving them. Director’s Forum is included in the price of admission. Museum members and Baylor University students receive free admission.

17th Annual Baylor Singing

Attention all Ladies of the Central Texas area:

Sacred Harp singing is a 160-year old southern folk hymn tradition that uses shape-note notation and “fa-sol-la” syllables. Named after the Sacred Harp, a tune book compiled in 1844 by B. F. White and E. J. King, Sacred Harp singing has recently been featured in the movie Cold Mountain. For newcomers, the Baylor sing will be preceded by a brief singing school at 9:30 a.m. Listeners are welcome, but most join in the singing! The musical “Pirates of Penzance” will headline the MCC Foundation’s 17th Hearts in the Arts Gala. The musical is at 7:30 p.m. in the Ball Performing Arts Center. A 6 p.m. hors d’oeuvres and wine reception is at the center and Fountain Plaza. Patron tickets cost $75 and include the reception and theatre performance. Reservations are due Feb. 21.
