Waco Association of REALTORS releases real estate statistics for September 2015 October 12, 2015 – McLennan County home sales decreased 13% to 199 sales in September while home prices rose from the year prior according to the September 2015 McLennan County housing report released today by the Waco Association of REALTORS. According to the report, 199 homes were sold in McLennan county in September 2015, a 3% decrease from the year prior. The median price for McLennan County homes increased 13% year-over- year to $159,200 during the same timeframe. McLennan County’s monthly housing inventory was 3.5 months in September 2015. The Real Estate Center at Texas A&M University cites that 6.5 months of inventory represents a market in which supply and

demand for homes if balanced. Homes spent an average of 64 days on the market in September. Additionally, there were 735 active residential listings for the county housing market during the same time frame. Don’t play cat-andmouse with rodents: Tips to keep your home pest-free

(BPT) - Though catching mice has been a popular theme in games and cartoons for decades, preventing rodent invasions is not child’s play. Even the most fastidious homeowners can fall victim to a pest invader at some point. Research by the National Pest Management Association (NPMA) reveals that invasive rodents have broken into 29 percent of U.S. homes, bringing with them a slew of health and property hazards. Fortyfive percent of those homeowners said the infestation occurred in the fall and

winter months.

The two rodent species most commonly found in homes are the house mouse and the Norway rat. House mice are the most common invasive rodents, with females producing up to a dozen offspring in as little as three weeks. House mice will eat many kinds of food, and they boast excellent climbing and jumping skills. House mice construct nests using paper products and other materials. They also carry several diseases and their urine and feces can trigger allergies and asthma, especially in children. Norway rats, much like roof rats, are nocturnal and social,

burrowing closely to one another. Norway rats are credited with the ability to gnaw through plastic and lead piping to find food and water. These rats are also known to chew through electrical wires, putting homes at risk for fires.
