MJ Love Story

Emilie & Ryan

AVON, NY ENGAGED: FEBRUARY2022 MARRIED: JULY2022 HOW THEY MET:

We have known each other for most of our lives. Through multiple mutual friends, we ran into each other at parties and events throughout high school. It wasn’t until we were both back home managing our family’s dairy farms that our friends tried to set us up. We were both too stubborn to agree to that, but ultimately ended up talking and eventually going out on ice cream dates.

THEIR FAVORITE THINGS:

My favorite thing about Emilie is her brutal honesty, whether you want to hear it or not she will tell you how it is. My favorite thing about Ryan is his hard-working attitude and his dedication to everything that he puts his mind to.

THEIR PERFECT DATE:

We both lead very busy lives so a spontaneous ice cream date after a long day of work is always welcome, followed by a drive around the countryside in Ryan’s truck.

THE PROPOSAL:

Ryan proposed in our kitchen with our dog Declan by his side. We had dinner planned with friends that evening so it was a great way to celebrate and surprise them! Our wedding was held at Emilie’s grandmother’s gardens called Linwood Gardens. It is a very special place to us as Emilie’s parents, aunt, great aunt and grandmother were also married there. We celebrate most of our holidays at the gardens, and it holds a special place in our hearts. With the beautiful view of Genesee Valley, the meticulously maintained spaces and its history, Linwood Gardens was the absolute perfect venue for us.

THE DRESS:

I knew that I wanted something elegant and classic to go with our venue but after trying on quite a few options I realized I needed some bling to make it really “me.” My dress was a-line with a beaded sheer bodice, a satin skirt and buttons down the back. I also had a cathedrallength, lace-trimmed veil that went perfectly with the dress.

THE DECOR:

We combined rustic elements including Ryan hand building an arch from old beams from his farm as well as some glam in our mothers both wearing dresses with sequins and classic and elegant signage around our venue. We wanted to include elements from each of our farms so we utilized wheat for lining our aisle and then used dry beans from Ryan’s farm and the wheat from Emilie’s farm for our centerpieces. We found old milk cans from Ryan’s family and used those as decorations throughout the venue. Finally, we had cheese trays for appetizers with cheese from Emilie’s farm and a soft-serve ice cream machine with make-your-own sundae supplies for dessert with ice cream that was made with Ryan’s farm’s milk.

PURCHASING THEIR RINGS:

We came into Mann’s knowing that we both wanted to be involved in the process of picking out the engagement ring. Christina gave us tons of options but helped us choose a style based on what we wanted, classic with a little something extra. We came back in during Wedding Band Weekend to pick out our wedding bands with Christina. She was patient, helpful and truly listened to what we were looking for. We had a great experience shopping for all our rings, and they turned out even better than we could have imagined!
