Ali & David

ROCHESTER, NY

ENGAGED: NOVEMBER 2021

MARRIED: SEPTEMBER 2022

HowTheyMet:

David’s first memory of Ali was at summer camp in the summer of 1998; he was 12 years old and Ali was 9. That was a short-lived memory since Ali only went to that camp for a year, but that was only the beginning for Ali and David. While we don’t have “it all began that one night,” or “that one moment,” Ali and David have been best friends forever - longer than they can remember.

TheirFavoriteThingsAboutEachOther:

Ali says she has so many favorite things about David, but his patience is unmatched and his everlasting curiosity — he is always game for any adventure, activity, or idea.

David says his favorite things about Ali are her tenacity, her sense of humor and her endless determination no matter what it is. Once Ali has her intentions set, there is no turning back. Our relationship started as a friendship that built the best foundation.

TheirPerfectDate:

We love an early dinner, walking our Bernedoodle Hank, or bingeing a crime TV show together with takeout from one of our favorite restaurants.

TheProposal:

David was returning from a week-long business trip and was determined to propose when he landed. David proposed to Ali in their New York City apartment (she’ll love him forever for not proposing with any over the top fanfare) and celebrated with takeout sushi. If you know Ali, you’d know how simple and perfect this was.

TheWedding:

We got married at a close family friend’s home in Rochester, New York, amongst family. The location and home were meaningful to us and will always be such a special memory. The house is interesting and unique, with a visual surprise around every corner. We knew the interior spaces would be a perfect backdrop and the manicured grounds are like a park.

We wanted our wedding day to be completely unique to us, intimate and timeless. We leaned into our interests and what we love as a couple while staying away from a traditional approach. We got married amongst an intimate group of family, followed by an outdoor, candlelit dinner comprised of many courses and our favorite foods. The afternoon and evening were a perfect combination of everything we loved.

TheDress:

I never envisioned myself wearing a wedding dress. I had every intention of scouring my favorite, go-to digital fashion sites to find my wedding day look — I wasn’t even confident it would be white. It wasn’t until I was browsing a store in New York City, completely unrelated to our wedding that I saw a wedding dress on a mannequin and exclaimed, “I’m getting married in this dress, I love it.” The dress was the perfect mix between unique and unexpected. Plus, it had pockets!

PurchasingTheirRings:

Purchasing the rings was one of the easiest decisions we made. Ali was very clear about the shape of the diamond she wanted, and knew she wanted a very simple setting. Ali’s mom, Nancy, took us both through the diamond education process, and we talked about all of the options and details together. The surprise came from which diamond I ultimately selected and when it was going to happen.

TheirBestAdvice:

Dedicate uninterrupted time for each other every day.
