First comes love. Then comes popping the question. But before that comes finding the perfect ring.

CAROLINE & SCOTT

Scott and I had plans for a little date night on September 25th, 2021—dinner at Brown & Loe in the River Market. Little did I know, Scott had bigger plans than just a regular date night. While we were at dinner, I could tell he was a little nervous, but didn’t think too much into it. After dinner we were supposed to meet my parents for cocktails, but they were “running late.” Scott said we could pass the time by exploring the Liberty Memorial. Now this is where I started to get suspicious and had a feeling something special was about to happen. As we were walking around the memorial, Scott waited at sunset to propose and ask me to be his wife! I was so surprised and happy! He then surprised me once again by throwing an engagement party the same night with all our friends and family there to celebrate our engagement! We are getting married on December 31st, 2022 and we can’t wait for our New Year’s Eve wedding. We plan to stay in Prairie Village for a while longer with our pup, Sadie, and hopefully start a family one day!

JEANNIE & TOM

We have known each other for years, but didn’t begin dating until a few years ago. We decided to embark on a new journey and moved to the KC area together to start our careers. Little did I know that Tom kept a secret for months as he carefully planned out all the details of the proposal. The moment was very special. Afterwards, Tom surprised me with our friends, some of whom came from our hometown. We’ve been planning our wedding and are so excited to tie the knot next year!

HAPPILY EVER AFTER

What has changed since your wedding? What moments were your favorite?

Oh gosh, so much has changed! We had some really fun times traveling in the first few years of marriage. Our favorite place to visit is Colorado and we love to go hiking and exploring in the summer, and Ethan loves to go snowboarding in the winter, so we had a few fun trips there! We have also had a couple of big moves since we got married, and we are about to move into another new house. We hope to stay put for a long time after this one! :) But hands down the best moments in our five years of marriage have been finding out we were pregnant with our son, Rhett, and the day he was born. We are extremely grateful for our rainbow baby.

How is motherhood? What milestone(s) have you and Ethan enjoyed recently?

Motherhood is better than I could have ever imagined. It’s so many things all at once. It’s beautiful, challenging, exhausting, rewarding and my favorite title I’ve ever had. Becoming parents together has been so fun and special, and our son Rhett brings us SO much joy. He is 20 months now, and this is such a fun, wild stage. Rhett has a very big personality; he’s determined and knows what he wants, but he’s also still a big snuggly mama’s boy. Our favorite thing lately is hearing him talk so much! It’s so much fun hearing him learn so many new words and being able to communicate with him a little more than we used to. Even if a lot of the time he’s saying “NO!” or “mine!”

What are your plans for next year?

We are really looking forward to making our new house a home over this next year, and continuing to enjoy our time with Rhett. We don’t have any travel booked yet, but we hope to get a few fun trips on the calendar too! Maybe one with just the parents. ;) I also hope to continue growing my new podcast, the “Wellness For The Win” podcast, where I share unfiltered, vulnerable conversations regarding health and wellness, motherhood, and more.

Any advice you

Shanna, Ethan and their 20-month-old son, Rhett. and Ethan want to extend to

future #Mazzbride(s)?

We would encourage everyone to travel and capitalize on as many experiences as possible in the early years especially! We absolutely love being parents, but we are glad we had a few years of marriage to just enjoy each other before adding a child to the mix! Try to honor what feels good for you and your partner, and don’t worry about anyone else’s

“timeline” for your life.
