The Wellington property market has been an interesting one to follow over the last couple of years as we have finally seen growth in values by over 20% per year. As a region we have experienced slower growth than the rest of the country. This has mainly been due to the low supply of houses available for buyers to purchase. The real estate market, like any other market, is driven by supply and demand. This low supply and high demand for houses has seen robust prices still being achieved. The especially low volumes that we have seen over the last three months can be expected in a capital city in an election year. However, with the result now finalised we fully expect the Wellington market to show a rise in activity and a continued growth in prices.
