Playing the people’s music

FRIDAY NIGHT

Beau Redding is a solo performer who plays a sing-out-loud style of music that keeps audiences engaged and entertained. Playing favourite music from the 1960s through to current hits, Beau delivers great music and good times. Beau was born and bred in Little Rock, Arkansas, playing his rst gigs when he was still at school with a band that played pop and rock. He was a full-time musician for many years, playing gigs around the Texas circuit and supporting up and coming acts like LeAnn Rimes. Beau came to New Zealand in 1999, attracted by what looked like a friendly and safe country and has been entertaining New Zealanders ever since with around 80 gigs a year, mostly in the pop, rock and country vein. Beau writes and sings his own music, and was nominated for a Tui Award for his album Dime Box in 2001. He has released three albums, all of which are available on all the streaming sites. But when it comes to live performance, Beau believes in giving his audience whatever songs and genres they love the most. “I don’t have a set playlist, instead feeling out the crowd and choosing songs they will like. Within a couple of songs, I can tell what songs people want to hear.”

Beau supports his vocals with just his guitar. “I don’t use backing tracks. I like the freedom of being able extend a song if that feels right, or shorten it.” Having performed solo to audiences of 5000 or more, Beau will feel right at home at the Golden Shears with hits from the likes of Tom Petty and The Eagles.

Getting up to Shenanigans

SATURDAY NIGHT

Back playing the Golden Shears for the third year in a row, The Shenanigans Irish Band will again be promising some good old Irish-country-foot stomping music as Saturday evening’s entertainment. The Shenanigans are one of New Zealand’s most accomplished and sought-after bands in Irish traditional music today. They have garnered much critical acclaim in recent years, even being compared to super groups such as by respected New Zealand Musician Magazine. Their meteoric rise in the music world was given a massive boost in 2011 when they released their album Live 2005. The band subsequently went on to receive the award for being “The best live act on the Good Morning Show” and were also named “Best Jokers” at The New Zealand Jokers Awards in 2012. Following the tremendous success of their debut album “Ballyscullymuckery”, the group’s pro le was further raised with the release of their follow up, “Live In Your Lounge” in 2018. As well as reconstructing traditional Irish/Celtic tunes that have been around for generations, they enjoy taking well-known contemporary classics and “Irishing” them up.

A range of sheep vaccines made for New Zealand conditions.

A PROUD HISTORY OF NEW ZEALAND NEW ZEALAND INNOVATION FOR KIWI FARMERS.

Our company was rst there supporting Golden Shears in 1961. At the time we were known as TVL (Tasman Vaccine Laboratories). Over 60 years later, and Golden Shears remains the world’s premier shearing and wool-handling event, and we continue to support and recognize the parallels between this truly iconic New Zealand event, and what our company, now called MSD Animal Health, offer kiwi farmers. While the name has changed, what does remain in common with the Golden Shears event is a business born and bred in New Zealand, steeped in history, and that has continually innovated and evolved to remain relevant and market leading today. For nearly 80 years our scientists have developed and made vaccines with the aim of improving the health and productivity of New Zealand’s farm animals. The rst vaccine developed and available to kiwi farmers in the 1940’s was for the clostridial disease blackleg. It was manufactured at the same Upper Hutt site that today is home to MSD Animal Health, New Zealand’s leading vaccine manufacturer and supplier. At the same site, the rst 5-strain clostridial vaccine for NZ farmers was launched. And so was born our rst Multine®5-in-1 vaccine, developments of which remain the most widely used range of vaccines in New Zealand today. 50 years of ongoing innovation in this range has seen our latest addition include the convenience and bene ts of both vitamin B12 and Selenium - Multine B12 Selenised, which has rapidly become a favored choice on kiwi sheep farms. Focusing on keeping livestock healthier and farming more productive is what keep our trusted brands at the forefront of the market. Our vaccines like Toxovax® and Campyvax®4 are used on nearly every sheep farm in NZ. And our clostridial vaccines have been developed further into Covexin® 10, and the manufacturing site in Upper Hutt now exports variations of these innovative vaccines to over 80 countries around the world. As well developing the most extensive range of local vaccines, MSD have expanded their interests into the future of intelligence systems on New Zealand farms, adding the MSD Animal Health Intelligence division – which includes the well-known ALLFLEX Livestock Intelligence brands within the portfolio. Be it ALLFLEX plastic or EID ear tags, or a full livestock monitoring system, the ALLFLEX identi cation and intelligence products provide practical and actionable information to help farmers run an ef cient farm, and get the best for their animals. ALLFLEX’s local development of products, like many of MSDs locally manufactured vaccines and our COOPERS anti-parasitic brands, bring a long and trusted history of strong local, New Zealand innovation onto kiwi farms. MSD sheep vaccines brands are made speci cally for New Zealand’s unique conditions and it is this which has made our brand synonymous with trust and the drive to help farmers achieve superior animal health. Ensuring New Zealand’s farmers continue to raise the bar in terms of sheep productivity and farm pro tability. Made for New Zealand, in New Zealand. MSD is very proud of our enduring partnership with this iconic brand and we wish the Golden Shears all the best for another great event.
