PHILLIP (LEFT) AND CHARLES SPILHAUS. Pair beat going to the Bank
Thanks to the loyal support and confidence of customers, the father and son team Charles and Phillip Spilhaus at Mortgage Link are achieving consistent results for their clients, in good and bad times, working closely with a network of loan assessors across all banks. “The lending environment may change but by understanding the fundamentals of the age-old relationship of debtor and creditor, we bring all the players together and achieve success time after time,” says Charles. He has been joined by Phillip and enjoys Phillip’s approach. “Phillip brings vitality and new perspectives and helps us to see the wood for the trees at times.” Since the market started cooling, they have been busy as ever. The conditions have opened opportunities for customers to get into the market, or trade-up. They have been gratified to help numerous customers through the gate. “We tell customers that we can present a case optimally but thereafter it is in Higher Hands - many recent approvals have been more an answer to prayer than anything else,” adds Charles. Phillip and Charles are normally available to meet customers at short notice. After-hours and weekends are reserved for the endless paperwork and catching up, but meetings are possible on any working day. Their specific areas of interest are:
First Home Buyers
We keep on top of low deposit lending channels, First Home Grants, Kiwisaver withdrawal and all the things that firsthome buyers must confront. We are the ideal starting point. We can advise on accessing the ‘Bank of Mum and Dad’ to make up shortfalls! Self-employed/business owners – arranging lending for self-employed people and advising in this area is natural to Charles, after years as a business banking manager. Reverse mortgages –agents of Heartland Bank, Charles and Phillip are available for discussion with retired people, and their children, about how a reverse mortgage may be appropriate. Kiwisaver – agents of Generate Kiwisaver, Charles and Phillip will assist customers to get focus and direction with their savings. They also assist with the technical aspects, like making sure customers understand their investment and that they are in the right category of fund.
Homeowners with multiple properties
or high equity who want to look at using their equity for investment in further properties or for other avenues of investment. Where the bank cannot help – through their extensive contacts, Charles and Phillip have access to non-bank lenders and are also able to arrange refinance of non-bank lending with main banks.
