NEW KIA AND SUZUKI SHOWROOM MAKES EASTWOOD MOTOR GROUP THE ULTIMATE DESTINATION This Saturday sees the o˜ cial opening of the new Kia and Suzuki Showroom at Eastwood Motor Group along with the new Vehicle Preparation Centre. The new facilities are an exciting development for EMG, says General Manager Gary Allan. “We are excited to have the largest franchise dealership in the Wairarapa, and having the newest and largest showroom will help us to deliver an even better customer experience.” The Hyundai, Isuzu, Kia and Suzuki brands are all located in close proximity at the corner of Dixon and Harlequin Streets.

“We have always wanted Eastwood Motor Group to be the ultimate place for all things motoring. When people come here now they will ÿ nd a large variety of vehicles at one handy location, helping to make an easier selection and smoother purchasing process.” EMG has gone through a very positive period over the last few years, Gary says, as is illustrated by some of the most recent sales statistics. “We are very fortunate to have such strong brands that are all experiencing growth. This year in Wairarapa the Isuzu D-max

is the number one selling ute by a country mile, Kia and Hyundai are the top two selling passenger vehicles, and Suzuki is going well too. “Roughly every second vehicle sold in the Wairarapa is sold by us. We are extremely lucky to have such a loyal customer base. They have helped us to buck the nationwide trends and dominate market share where in most other regions more traditional mainstream brands usually feature.” Gary has been a part of Eastwood Motor Group since its beginning in 2010. He was born and bred in the Wairarapa and started in the industry at what was then Majestic Motors as Junior Sales Person in 2006. NEW SHOWROOM FULFILS A DREAM FOR MIKE EASTWOOD On a wall in the customer lounge at Eastward Motor Group is a striking photo of Sir Edmund Hillary with one of his many memorable quotes - “I am a lucky man. I have had a dream and it has come true, and that is not a thing that happens often to men.” In a small way, EMG Dealer Principal and Managing Director Mike Eastwood feels the same way. “I guess that says it all. I feel like quite a lucky man. I’ve done what I set out to do and fulÿ lled a lot of dreams I had for Eastwood Motor Group. “I always dreamed that this business would get to the stage where I would be very proud of it, and that time has arrived with the completion of the new Kia and Suzuki Showroom.”

Mike recalls he virtually “fell” into the business after a career in accountancy and ÿ nancial management in the construction industry. When Mike returned to Masterton where he grew up with wife Nolene in 2010, he bought the franchises for Hyundai and Kia from Majestic Motors. “It was a case of the right opportunity at the right moment. I was inspired [to buy the business] because of its Hyundai and Kia franchises in particular.” From that moment on, Mike put a priority on customer satisfaction, improving the physical environment of the business on the corner of Dixon and Harlequin Streets, and lifting the standard of service.

A big refurbishment in 2012 made the business much more pleasant and practical for both sta° and customers and brought EMG up to Hyundai Elite Status.

Mike is expecting the forwards to play an increasingly important role in the success of the business now that they will have more space to carry out repairs and servicing.

A Wairarapa representative rugby player in the early 1970s, Mike enjoys describing EMG using rugby metaphors. The success of the business has been built on strong team work, he says. “Team and pride are our philosophies.” Mike sees the Sales team at EMG as the “backs” - the extrovert players who are the face of the business. The Service team are the hardworking “forwards” in the background. While the backs have been enjoying the limelight lately with impressive sales ÿ gures,
