Plus, in real estate, we have another saying, “The market is the market”. There’s not much you can do to control the market – if only we could! Awful things overseas?

As promised, what shouldn’t you worry about? Actually, lots. First, if you’re not selling, then no need to worry at all. Even if your home has technically lost value on paper, it only matters if you want to sell it now. Second, even though it feels like house prices are falling fast – it’s really only relative to how quickly they went up last year. Most of the time, when you look back at what you bought your house for, you’ll still find that you’ve come out on top. Third, if you are selling, remember that you choose the price you accept –you’re in control. However, as Spider-man once said, “With great power, there must also come great responsibility”. As I said earlier, the market is the market – and it is the buyers who will choose what they are prepared to pay at the end of the day. And fourth, if you’re buying and selling in the same market, it’s all academic – you may have to accept a lesser price on your home, but it’s very likely you will be able to pay less on the home you buy.
