Methods of Giving
DEVELOPING CHAMPIONS The Deacon Club is the fundraising unit for Wake Forest Athletics. In an effort to support the athletic department’s mission of developing champions, we are driven by three primary objectives: To provide scholarships for academically deserving student-athletes To equip our student-athletes with first-class facilities To develop programs to further engage members with Wake Forest Athletics
Vision: Developing Champions Core Values: Integrity, Excellence, Leadership, Commitment, Loyalty
3
WAYS YOU CAN SUPPORT WAKE FOREST ATHLETICS Today, Tomorrow and Forever
1 2 3
Be an advocate for Wake Forest. As a smaller alumni and fan base we need to be loud and proud. Wear your Wake Forest gear with pride. Acknowledge other fans in the community. Help us engage others to join our cause. Work to engage and involve your Wake Forest friends to support the Deacs. Attend more games. Come to more of our
home games. Regardless of the sport, greater attendance and atmosphere starts with you. Be a leader by example and prioritize attendance.
4 5
Refer a friend or family member. Encourage your
classmates, friends and co-workers to support our student-athletes by joining the Deacon Club. It’s also one way to increase your membership status through our referral point system.
Volunteer in our office. Earn points toward your
membership and develop relationships with our staff and students by volunteering some time in our office. We always appreciate help with the phones, mailings and other projects that help the Deacon Club operate smoothly.
Join or upgrade your membership in the Deacon Club Annual Scholarship Fund. Scholarship support is the
core of our mission. 100% of your Annual Fund gift supports this initiative.

5
Create an endowed scholarship. If you have the
ability, consider creating a family legacy or taking the opportunity to remember a loved one or coach, player or administrator. A minimum gift of $100,000 is required to award a scholarship fund to a deserving student-athlete. We currently have 160 awarded funds that will provide scholarship funds in perpetuity.
Support a capital project. If you have a passion for
one of our sports or coaches, consider getting involved with a capital priority. We currently have active projects in football, basketball, baseball, golf, soccer, tennis and field hockey. Specific plans have been created, and naming opportunities are available for your support.
8 9
Include Wake Forest in your estate. An easy and significant way to make a difference is through a provision in one’s estate to support the athletic department. A percentage or a specific amount can make a difference in our program.
Think about a transformational gift. Not everyone is in a position to make a transformational gift. This type of gift would transform a sport or facility, or create a new program or sport.
ANNUAL FUND One hundred percent of Deacon Club membership gifts go towards the Annual Fund, which provides funding for athletic scholarships. As scholarship costs continue to rise, the gap between funds raised and total scholarship costs continues to grow wider. The last Deacon Club giving level increase occurred nearly a decade ago, and since that time, the athletic department’s annual scholarship costs have risen an estimated 58% and now total more than $13.3 million. In an effort to remain competitive while facing the challenge of rising scholarship costs, the Deacon Club has announced that it will be increasing the minimum donation for seven of its nine giving levels. Although members are encouraged to start giving at the new levels this year, the increase will be voluntary for the 2014-15 membership year. The increased minimum donations will go into full effect for all members in the 2015-2016 year.

We talk a lot about Developing Champions at Wake Forest. We all take great pride in recognizing the triumphs of our student-athletes in the form of medals, titles and trophies, but we also celebrate the victories achieved off the courts and playing fields—in the classroom and the community.

110% CAMPAIGN The Deacon Club encourages existing members to pledge 110% of their previous year’s donation in honor of our student-athletes who continually give 110% to Wake Forest both on and off the field. Over the past four years, the 110% campaign has brought in more than $1 million in incremental funds to be used towards rising scholarship costs. As you pledge to renew your Deacon Club membership, please consider joining your fellow Deacons in giving 110% as we all work to give our student-athletes the best opportunity to excel.
“On behalf of the football team and all student-athletes at Wake Forest, thank you to the Deacon Club for all that you do to support us. Balancing a rigorous practice schedule and demanding academic requirements can be a challenge at times, but I always give 110% because I know that the hard work will pay off both on and off the field. I am proud to be a Demon Deacon and I thank you for giving me the opportunity to call Wake Forest home.”
– Ryan Janvion, Redshirt Sophomore

DONOR L EVEL
All Deacon Club members receive a membership card, which can be used for access to special promotions and events. Deacon Bench (Golden C) members and above may use their membership card for free admission to all regular-season home Olympic sporting events for the donor and their immediate family. All Deacon Club members may use their membership card for access to the Hoops Room at men’s basketball games for the donor and their immediate family.
The contributions of Deacon Club members may not be visible in the fielding of a deep ball or the completion of a perfect high jump, but your commitment is just as vital as that of our student-athletes to the success of our programs. That’s why we want to recognize those donors who give 110% with a symbol of commitment. Whether you wear it on your lapel, on your cap, on a lanyard or on the pocket of that lucky gold sweater, the 110% pin is a subtle way of showing your dedication to Wake Forest Athletics.
Gold Rush Gold Rush, the official publication of Wake Forest Athletics, is published 8 times a year by IMG College in conjunction with the athletic department. The magazine covers all aspects of Demon Deacon athletics. Highlights include insider columns, football and basketball previews, team news, personal interest features, Deacon Club information and much more. The Gold Rush is included with all levels of Deacon Club membership.

STUDENT DEACON CLUB A Student Deacon Club membership is available to students currently enrolled as high school juniors or seniors as well as students currently enrolled in any undergraduate college. Students receive the benefits of a general level membership* for a minimum annual donation of $25.
Student Deacon Club members can begin earning priority points for cumulative giving and consecutive years of giving**, but those priority points will not become active until the student transitions to a full-fledged Deacon Club membership at the General Level or above. At that point, their account will be credited with any priority points earned during their years as a Student Deacon Club member. The Deacon Club cannot issue charitable receipts for Student Deacon Club members because the membership benefit value is greater than the donation.
