ON THE COVER CHRIS ABADIE If you haven’t heard of the ShredTown boys by now, the rock you live under must have been bonked or jibbed by one of them disrupting your internet connection. Armed with Google Earth, a winch and a video camera, the results posted online and elsewhere are incredible. The riding in their videos (posted regularly) is nothing short of awesome and perhaps more notable is their efficient, postproduction frequency. Utilizing the social network boom that we all live in, and credited much to their success, Chris Abadie demonstrates why you might need

This little floating tree provided quite a few photo ops at the 2009 Liquid Force annual photo shoot. With Obscura teammate James Balzer at the helm of the Sea Doo, wakeskater Aaron Reed made use of the abundant Lake Powell terrain. 12-before-12 never looked so good. Aaron Reed LAKE POWELL, AZ

Lake Minnehaha CLERMONT, FL

There is no better feeling while riding than being that last one out on the water at sunset. Just before dinner, squeezing in that last bit of light, it’s moments like these that make you pinch yourself. Riding with a good sunset in the background feels like you’re in the spotlight on stage. I remember taking this photo, slack-jawed in amazement.

Mike Ennen LAKE MINNEHAHA, FL

I take a photo the way it is because that’s the way I want it to look. I’m a fan of keeping things in the photo as natural as I see them, and that goes for the post processing as well. But every now and then, I’ll get that editing bug feel the need to change the colors or crop. It’s not quite as pure, but still fun to experiment. Slingshot’s Mikey Ennen had no problem being the test subject behind these buckets of water. Add a little color, some grain, BAM. Weeeeeee… fun.

If “the early-bird-gets-the-worm” is your theory to ride, you may want to reconsider while on the St. Johns River. Behind every turn, lies a beautiful scene like this. Don’t ask what is beneath the surface either. “Out of sight, out of mind” is probably a better approach. Out there, you don’t really want to be the bird, the worm OR the wakeboarder.

Lake Minneola CLERMONT, FL

The Wakeboard Camp cycles through thousands of riders all year round. It’s a great atmosphere to learn in with some giant wakes and even bigger lakes at their access. With every early morning walk to the boat, it’s hard to miss this long dock that sits on the adjacent property. On this particular morning, right after sunrise, the fog rolled in creating a heavy blanket of flat, grey light. The visibility distance was less than a few hundred feet so driving the boat was to dangerous, and out of the question. Killing some time, I loaded up my old “go-to” 35mm Minolta camera with some black and white film, taking home this little piece of Clermont.
