ON THE COVER
DEAN SMITH
By Daniel Watkins I remember meeting Deano about seven years ago. I always thought he had the potential in the sport. Anyone who has met Dean knows he has the energy and motivation to be the best in the world at anything he sets his mind to. Although he is one of the world’s most feared contest riders, he may be better known for his unique approach to the free riding scene. When I think of the most explosive riding of all time, I think of names like Darin Shapiro, Randall Harris, Keith Lyman and now Dean Smith. Deano seems to ride with no respect for his body, cutting at every trick like he hates the wake. If you ever get a chance

to see Deano ride in the flesh, treat yourself! I guarantee you will be mind-blown. Thank you Deano

The Under Flip (first ever)
“The quarter pipe is
slammed harder than you’ve

challenging because it can be
ever slammed before. As
super fun one minute and the
the pipe was getting closer, I
next minute you are getting
yanked in on the handle to get
the trick two or three more
is lame and it doesn’t belong
more time, it will only progress
times after this one, then called
in our sport, but I believe it is
the sport in new ways never seen
it a wrap for the the day. Some
an awesome feature, especially
before. To me, this flip feels like a
utilizing the System 2.0. With
mexican back roll, but if I have to
people think the quarter pipe 10
some speed. I hit the wall and
initiate the flip. It is such a crazy

just thought about pushing off
feeling not really knowing what
you try something is ALWAYS the
hard to get some height and
the outcome is going to be when
scariest, but after that it gets a
throwing my head down to
you try something like that. I have
little easier. I ended up sticking
put a name on it I guess I would

the only thing that comes to

mind when I think of the rotation
possibilities with just a little more
