ON THE COVER

BOB SICHEL

By Ben Greenwood Robert “Bob” Sichel... where do I begin? Bob and I have a history that dates back to about 2004. He showed up as a 14-year-old at the Wakeboard Camp in Florida. He was there for a solid week of riding. Keith Lyman and I were finishing up a glassy evening set when we first met. It just so happened that Keith and I were Bob’s favorite riders and he just got off the flight from the West Coast to catch a glimpse of us riding. He reminds me of that moment from time to time and I can’t help but think that was his “moment” when he really caught the wakeboarding bug. I think all of us can remember certain moments like that. Whether it was a new trick, meeting a hero, watching your first wake vid, it kind of helps to define our relative paths. To watch where Bob’s riding has progressed to where he is now (feeling as though I

helped influence that journey), it’s something that I take great

pride in. Even when Bob got his first highlight in a mag, he

made reference to his influences. You can see it in his riding that he respects his elders, riders with his attention to detail, and desire to “do tricks the right way.”
