Back on Clear Lake in Orlando for this late afternoon shot, I could have run into a zillion problems but didn’t. Chad opted to stay flexible and roll with whatever the day was giving us. It was an experienced decision because we both knew all hell could have broken loose with other boat traffic, weather, and who knows what else. I was expecting the wind to pick up, a broken board, a snake bite in the bushes, something. Miraculously, the conditions held up as I waded through the water. I stayed dry and snake-free and Chad stomped what he needed to do against the setting sun. VIDEO

Brenton Priestley ORLANDO WATERSPORTS COMPLEX
With Collin Harrington’s idea to shoot at OWC, I thought it would be smartest to gather up a few riders because they can ride simultaneously on the cable. Joining the OWC session was Brenton Priestley and the cheeky Marc Rossiter. After Collin dialed in the cover shot for this very issue, I climbed down the tower and relocated to another tower that looked downward on the kicker. Based on where I was positioned and the trick BP was doing—his face, the grab, the distance to the kicker— everything was opening up perfectly to the camera. Add to it BP’s consistency off the kicker, and this shot was a breeze.

The day of shooting for the 24-Hour Issue began for me at 3:00AM. After a few minutes of extra snoozing, I took a screenshot of my phone as a timestamp. I crammed some early morning breakfast down my throat and began to set up for the first shot of the day with the Shark watch in my home studio at 3:45AM. By 4:30 - 5AM I packed up the truck with all my photo gear for the day and double checked the weather on my way out the door. I texted JD and Scott and was Winter Haven bound by 5:42AM, chasing a 7AM sunrise‌ apparently it comes up at 6:45AM this time of year. From that point forward, I was hustling to stay on track. It was a whirlwind tour of Central Florida shooting with 11 riders total. By the time I got home that evening and made dinner, dumped the photos and finally laid my head back down, it was 11:45PM. Add a few hours of sleep, and you have 24 complete hours.
