OSVALDO RODRIGUEZ - Class of 2019 “Coming back to Wake Tech, I found that people were open and receptive. They told me how to get involved, how to succeed. I feel like I became part of a family, and part of the fabric of the school.” Osvaldo Rodriguez has a passion for science and is determined to make a difference. A trained electrician, Osvaldo developed an interest in biology, but wasn’t sure where to start. He came to Wake Tech to learn all he could as he transitioned to a new field. He found himself drawn to research, and got involved in complex research projects while working on an Associate in Science degree for University Transfer. He earned that degree, and went on to study human biology at NC State. His future plans include medical school, and a career working to improve public health.

CANDIS PARKER - Class of 2013 “My experience at Wake Tech was life changing. The college helped me figure out exactly what I wanted to do.” Candis was an interior designer when she came to Wake Tech in 2011. She signed up for architecture classes to broaden her skills; but after three construction courses, she discovered a keen interest in construction management. Candis excelled in the program, and became Wake Tech’s first Scott Scholar, the college’s most prestigious award. An internship at Balfour Beatty, a leader in the U.S. commercial construction industry, turned into a permanent position! Candis is now an estimator in the preconstruction department, and loves her job. Candis says Wake Tech helped her discover her passion and learn tools for a new career. waketechcc
