We welcome 2022 tucked in a warm cocoon of blankets as bed weather sets in. We thought the frigid circumstances of early January might be a great setting for starting a conversation about bedroom design. We feature the unique look rising Canadian interior design star, Louis Duncan-He, can give to the bedroom – heck, any room – with his tips on how to cosy up the style. These designs are sure to make you want to stay in the bedroom even when the temperature isn’t hovering below -20 degrees C.

What hasn’t been cold is the Edmonton housing market, which continues to burn bright through 2021 and seems poised for a repeat this year. Sherwood Park is a perfect example of this kind of dynamic growth, and we get to explore the Strathcona County hamlet just east of Edmonton and find out what locals love about living here. We also start the year with a story on the new home design trends that homebuilders have introduced recently. Flex space seems to be the order of the day, as more new homeowners – and not just single-family homeowners, but for apartment condos and townhomes, as well – opt for the extra space for home office or den to accommodate the prevailing work-at-home lifestyle. Excel Homes, Coventry Homes and Cantiro all have exciting new choices that we cover here but there are so much more to this than we can discuss in the two pages, so visiting the new showhomes will give you a great idea of what else is new out there.
