Climbing interest rates, inflation, it’s getting a little crazy out there, and the fluidity of the situation might give some new homebuyers pause. But what hasn’t changed is that Alberta remains to be the best province to buy a new home in and Edmonton is certainly the most affordable compared to other major Canadian cities.

Of the seven major Canadian cities polled by SaveMax real estate research website, Edmonton came in with an average sold price of just over $414,788 with an annual per cent increase of 6.02 per cent, ranked eighth lowest among major Canadian cities, including Toronto, Montreal and even Calgary.

In our cover story, Jayman BUILT is about to give Edmonton new homebuyers a bigger advantage as they launch their spring promo. They are offering free MLS listings for June so prospective buyers can list their home without worry as they purchase a new Jayman BUILT home in one of the 15 Edmonton communities they build in. Check out our cover story inside to find out more.

Jayman BUILT along with Coventry Homes also took part in our feature on the differences of building a new home or buying a spec home. It is explained how buyers needing to move into a new home can opt for buying a spec home for a quicker move-in time. But that’s the only major difference as both offer buyers a new home that they will be the first to live in.

We also talk to Cantiro and Rohit Land Development in how they approach creating curb appeal for their communities. They tell us how they are able to create character and continuity for their communities through architectural controls and some other secrets of the trade to make an appealing streetscape.

Our monthly Explore series takes us to the beautiful French Heritage city of Beaumont. Find out what makes this growing city just south of Edmonton so appealing to new home buyers.
