My modest chess professional career and training-couching chessplayers

It is quite unknown that after 1959 and since decades, Cuba is one of the world chess powerhouses: One World Senior Champion, two World Junior Champions, and many high-class results in Chess Olympic Games.

In 1970 when I was 10-year-old child, around October / November, my daddy, a former professional boxer (https://boxerlist.com/pt/boxer/wilfredo-mayet/58431/) introduced me to chess and left me a book for self-learning. In February-March, 1971, I won the district tournament of category 11-12 years old. The principal proposed my father to play in the category 13-14 years old, I say “Yes” and I won the third place of latter category in the municipality of Marianao, in Havana. In 1972 I entered the Havana’s sport scholarship-campus school for talented sport kids and teenagers where I stayed till 1976, speciality: Chess. From 1973 to 1978 I was one of the forehead scholars (below of 16 years old) and juniors (below 19 years old) chessplayers in Havana and Cuba. I retired from professional chess to start learning Polish language to study in Poland. In 1999 around April I came back to chess as hobby, in December started training and couching privately first a Woman Grand Master, later young chess players, till 2003. One of my pupils, just a man, obtained the title of Grand Master. Officially I started playing again in professional tournaments in September 2002. Following the road of Cuban Championship in October 2003 my two names and two surnames appeared in the FIDE (International Chess Federation) ranking list with ELO rating 2186, positioned on 256th place of Cuba’s ranking list. For one year, 2004, I enjoyed being again in the Havana’s chess elite. In 2003 I finished writing a book on chess, later not published but which theoretical content was awarded by Cuban Institute of Sports to start thesis to Doctor’s Degree in Sports (second nomination after the University of Havana’s in 1989) by splitting the book in two volumes plus the development of software, but in the same time my former wife fell on deadly cancer in October 2004, died in June the 8th, 2005, and I have no forces to continue this project. Other sports I have trained: Box, judo, table tennis (ping-pong), football, body-building, and swimming. In different times I used to play football and table tennis, later practiced swimming, to support the chess professional practice and its associate psychological stress. Knowledge on foreign languages after chess

Russian, I learned reading the cyrilic alphabet at 12 years of age for the needs of chess practice, and found in some degree I can understand Russian speakers through Polish language.
