Over the past three years, it has been a joy to welcome our guests to Waldorf Astoria Maldives Ithaafushi to create unforgettable memories with their loved ones. We unveiled Ithaafushi - The Private Island, the largest Maldivian private island spanning 32,000 square meters and accommodating up to 24 guests across a three-bedroom beach villa, two-bedroom overwater villa and four-bedroom residence. The Private Island, designed for the most discerning of travelers, is perfect for bonding with loved ones or celebrating life’s significant milestones with close friends. Our culinary team continues to innovate and expand our menu offerings across all our restaurants, providing our guests with more than 11 dining experiences on the resort. Our newest addition, Zuma Maldives, is the first overwater Zuma in the world. Koarey said, “I take a screenshot of an image that I like, I copy it to my heart, and then I create the decoration straight from my heart. I don’t look at the image again, I trust myself.”
Koarey especially loves the impact that the bed decorations have on a guest’s experience. Sometimes Koarey will base his decorations on the guest’s activities. If they’ve gone on an excursion to see sharks, they may come back to a shark on their bed. When asked how he creates these decorations,
Koarey’s most memorable bed decoration was when he created the island with flowers (pictured). “I was able to recreate the shape of Waldorf Astoria Maldives and bring the story of the shooting star to “Anyonelife.” can make beautiful bed art,” says Koarey. “You just need to have an interest and feel it in your heart, and I love mentoring young villa attendants and helping them find their own passion for bed decoration, too.”
Koarey, a Housekeeping Supervisor at Waldorf Astoria Maldives Ithaafushi, has worked his way up in the resort industry for the last 11 years. “I love building teams and teamwork is so important to me. The villa attendants all help each other and work together, which is why I love housekeeping. But most important - we get to make guests happy.”
