Women’s Association of Morristown Medical Center C.A.M.P. at Goryeb Children’s Hospital
New Autism and Child Development Center! On the evening of January 8th, a dedication event was held for the new Autism and Child Development Center at Goryeb Children’s Hospital. A portion of the $2M proceeds raised from Mansion in May 2014 at Blairsden contributed to the Women’s Association pledge toward the facility.

Recently the WAMMC Board Members had an opportunity to tour the Farris Family Center for Advanced Medicine in Pediatrics (C.A.M.P.) which offers a new approach to treating childhood disease. Proceeds from Mansion in May 2008 at Froh Heim, chaired by Tina Mulhare and June Meehan, contributed to the Women’s Association’s $1 million pledge toward the facility. This facility, the only one of its kind in New Jersey, encompasses the Valerie Fund Children’s Center and offers highly specialized care for pediatric patients with complicated illnesses, providing both diagnostic and therapeutic interventions. Rookie of the Year!
Carol Tourgee Honored as 2014 Eleanor Award Recipient First presented in 1982 and named for a most dedicated volunteer, Eleanor Volonte, the Eleanor Award is the highest honor given by the Women’s Association to one of its members. It is given to the “Busy Bee” who has distinguished herself in service to the Women’s Association and Morristown Medical Center. Fittingly, the recipient’s gift is a beautiful gold bee pin given with deep appreciation for dedication and service.

The Rookie of the Year, which is awarded to a newly active individual for significant contributions that greatly enhanced the organization’s success, was presented to Kim Lopez at the 2014 WAMMC Annual Meeting and Luncheon. Kim, an engineer by training with both exceptional technology and design skills, joined the Women’s Association in 2013 and became the Mansion in May website Co-Chair, along with Carol Tourgee. Kim’s technical background, creativity and patience were evident throughout the website development process. She is tireless and persistent in the pursuit of perfection. The website is one example of how every detail is in place, but it extends to everything Kim does! Kim is highly regarded by all those who worked with her on the Mansion in May 2014 Committee. We are very fortunate to have her as part of the WAMMC team. Congratulations Kim!

Carol joined the Women’s Association in 2009 and prior to that was an active volunteer, chairing the Mansion in May Program Committee in 2008 and 2010. As the 2011 Website Chair, Carol updated the WAMMC website and developed the Mansion in May 2012 webpage, the prototype for the Mansion in May dedicated website which debuted in February 2014. Through her efforts, visitors to the Mansion in May 2014 website were able to plan their visit, purchase tickets, book a private tour, find out about the mansion and its history, read designer space descriptions and link to designer websites, take an interactive tour, view and link to our corporate and in-kind sponsors, support our causes and access the Mansion in May journal in page-turner format. The websites are the public's first impression of WAMMC, and Carol Tourgee, our ‘Busy Bee’, makes us look awesome! Carol’s work has made the technical side of all of our committees run smoothly and efficiently. She never seems to sleep; send an email request sometime during the daylight hours and during the night, the update is made, making it appear magical! Carol is already busy with the next project - a total update of the WAMMC website!
