New York, NY 76,521 SF | Completed in 2019 Located in Stuyvesant Square Historic District, the Friends Seminary campus includes a historic meeting house, a series of school buildings, and three 19th century townhouses. The project entails a full restoration of the townhouses in compliance with the NYC Landmarks Preservation Commission, and a full-gut renovation enabling new floor slabs to align with the existing buildings' to achieve an accessible campus. A narrow sky-lit gallery with an exposed steel bracing separates the new interior from the historic facade emphasizing the ties between old and new. In addition to academic & administrative spaces, new spaces promote connections to the urban landscape through a Great Room which opens to the central courtyard, Upper School Commons which opens to a rooftop terrace, a transparent rooftop greenhouse, and mesh play roof. Chicago, IL 17,565 SF | Completed in 2015 Located in Hyde Park neighborhood of Chicago, the Collegium welcomes visiting scholars working on collaborative projects, and offers public and private spaces in an open & accessible setting. Presentation and exhibition spaces in restored historic spaces invite the public. Collaborative studios, workshops and offices for visiting scholars are located on upper floors. The glass-walled offices are grouped around shared studios. These clusters provide visibility and privacy in a variety of contexts to accommodate a range of work styles and research needs, transforming a traditional building into a modern-day incubator for interdisciplinary research. The pyramidal design motif in the marble paneling of the ceremonial stair is transformed into a contemporary pattern for the entrance canopy and the laser cut steel screen at the entrance and stair. This combination of historic and modern elements is a visual representation of the goals of the institute, bringing together past, present, and future. New York, NY 54,000 SF New & 33,000 SF Renovation | Completed in 2016 Located in the Norwood neighborhood of Bronx, this public school for 400 students in pre-kindergarten through fifth grade pairs a historic building with a modern addition. The addition is visually distinct from the historic building, but functionally united. It is situated to maximize sunlight at the outdoor play yard. The existing building & new addition are joined by a corner entrance pavilion opening onto a intimate entry plaza. Lower floors include the school library and a cafeteria that opens onto the play space. Upper floors include classrooms, with art & science rooms located in the prominent corner pavilion. A new multipurpose gymnasium is designed to function as an auditorium and performance space. The auditorium in the existing building is re-purposed as a Music suite, with the historic skylights restored.

North Brother Island - East River, NY 22 Acre Site | 2012 Architectural Thesis An inquiry into architecture’s relation to time, the thesis investigates effective and appropriate methods of re-sensing history in neglected sites of tragedy. Not seen as precious, the stratified historical and physical contexts provides vital means of discovering traces of the past. Throughout the landscape on North Brother Island, Exterior Parasites conduct excavation while Interior Parasites decay surfaces within the buildings. As these processes occur, the visual scanning of decay supports paranormal investigation to extricate dialogue with the deceased. Paying respect to the victims of NBI, the Exterior Parasites invade the buildings upon the completion of decay. Deconstructing the physical form, the Parasites bury the deconstruction waste deep within the voids of excavation, putting the past to rest literally and figuratively. Above a set of cathartic processes of ecological revitalization rises, restoring a site of healthy aviary life atop a foundation of death. Honors & Achievements: Faculty Thesis Award, Winner 2012 Alumni Thesis Prize, Finalist 2012 Da Vinci Thesis Prize, Finalist 2012 Architecture Program Memorial Award, Finalist 2012
