What I think of as architectural design should be a dynamically generative process, like in a game where the birth of a character is accompanied by his own little piece of space, because with his own consciousness and activity he begins to divide this space to meet different needs. When this small space does not satisfy all his needs, he starts to "go out" in all directions, for example, if he thinks he needs to do something on the east side, he builds the corresponding space on the east side, and the same goes for the creation of other spaces. In the end, all the spaces meet the user's most comfortable habits, rather than being fixed spaces that require the user to adapt to them.

A museum, located in the scenic area of the Grand Tang Mall, organises the flow of the tour according to sound changes, allowing visitors to experience the activities of a general day in the life of the people of the Tang Dynasty even in the modern city, creating an effect of a interaction between ancient and modern times.

A modular base camp and supply station, which is designed for climbers and tourists at the start and end of the route, according to the different needs of different people during climbing. As a result, we can provide a full range of services and helps to users in a very limited space.

An exploration of where the soul goes in response to the phenomenon of near death. Souls collected by the Soul Collection Station look back on their lives, meet their loved ones and even have their own hut to stay in, knowing that they have decided to return to the real world or leave for good in this Soul Terminal...

An urban regeneration project for a commercial area in Xi'an. In order to promote the development of the whole area, the main commercial complexes and some of the activity nodes will be renovated to meet the needs of different groups of people, such as local residents, foreign visitors and office workers, and to create a vibrant and interesting public space.

In this project, we designed an outdoor pavilion for tourists and residents to view, rest and hold activities for a homestay, aiming to create a special outdoor experience on the mountain of tea.

Includes individual hand-made architectural models, individual paintings, architectural photographic series and other architectural renderings. All of these works were completed during my five years of study at university, some as school coursework and some as a personal hobby.

[MODERN MUSEUM DESIGN]

Project Duration : 2022.05-2022.7

Subject : Architectural Design

Type of work : Individual completion

How was life in ancient times different and how was it the same as today? The activities of people were different, the level of amenities was different ...... But in both ancient and modern times, people could tell roughly what was going on by the sounds, and decibels of similar sounds represented similar activities in ancient and modern times. For example, a lively marketplace in the past and a pedestrian street in a city today, a quiet bookstore in the past and a quiet museum today ......

This project is located on the pedestrian street of Grand Tang Mall, linking the Shaanxi Provincial Grand Theatre and the Xi'an Concert Hall on both sides of the street. Through a streamlined spatial organisation the space is designed from open to compact to open again, recreating the life of people in the Tang Dynasty from quiet to lively and then back to calm, thus creating a space for dialogue with the ancient times on the modern pedestrian street.

Collage Of Ancient And Modern Elements

Sound Effects Corresponding To The Scenes

General Mapping Of The Grand Tang Mall

Different sounds represent different scenes of activity, similar sounds correspond to specific ancient and modern activities although not exactly the same, but the type of activity is similar. Just as in a piece of music, there are calm musical parts and undulating parts, these changes in sound always bring to mind images of the corresponding scenes.

LOCATION

Grand Tang Mall in Xi'an, Shanxi Province, China

This pedestrian street is home to some of the strongest history and culture in Xi'an, and every day people from all over the world come here to experience life in the Tang Dynasty.

SITE S

The location is in the middle of the pedestrian street, connecting the Shaanxi Grand Theatre and the Xi'an Concert Hall, which is one of the most crowded areas.

Tourist Attractions T

The whole of the Big Wild Goose Pagoda consists of several landscape nodes, which are used by similar groups of people and are located in close proximity to each other.

Cultural Architecture C

The cultural buildings are dominated by the Shaanxi Grand Theatre and the Xi'an Concert Hall, another innovative interplay of cultural forms.

The landmark building of the district, facing the central axis of the pedestrian street, serves as a backdrop for the whole pedestrian street.

The Giant Wild Goose Pagoda, Xi'an Tang

A park-like area, parallel to the pedestrian street to the north and south, and on the same visit route as the Grand Tang Mall.

Xi'an City Wall

At the end of the Grand Tang Mall, the height is higher than the buildings on both sides of the pedestrian street, so you can go up to the city walls and overlook the whole city.

coverage

The location of the project determines that it has an ample number of users and a lively surrounding environment, while being a place where many cultural forms (ancient and modern culture mainly) meet. The building therefore has to present a variety of cultures and also adapt to the s environment where people gather.

Light and Shadow Roof

Inside the cylinder is a quiet space that uses the sound reflections of the walls to create an echoing loud space on the one hand, and the half-covered roof to create a roof halo effect on the other.

Structure

The traditional column grid structure, together with the spaced walls, creates a natural area for the display of heritage. It also mimics the architectural form of ancient Chinese timber-framed buildings.

Architectural Grilles

The building grilles and window openings are used to enrich the façade on the one hand, and to create a variety of light and shadow effects inside the building in conjunction with the sunlight on the other.

In conjunction with the streamlined tour route and timber frame structure, the contents of the artefacts and related culture are presented in chronological order.

Central Interactive Area

Located in the middle of the pedestrian street, the core of the exhibition area is below, with the part that protrudes from the ground serving as a light skylight on the one hand and an interactive wall on the other, allowing pedestrians to form a personal antique image when passing through.

High Ceiling Space

The high ceiling space allows for the display of taller cultural exhibits on the one hand, and on the other hand, with the side opening skylight, creates a rich light and shadow effect and enhances the quality of the space.

Cultural And Leisure Area

The combination of cultural and creative product sales and public rest areas completes the transition from the ancient life experience back to life in modern society, while having a certain commercial role in sales.

Core Exhibition Area

The ground level section is an interactive pedestrian area. Large skylights with thick walls extending downwards allow the beams of light to be focused on the exhibition area below, creating a solemn and sacred spatial effect.

The idea of this project was inspired by the movie < Free Solo> .

As an emerging worldwide sport, rock climbing has attracted countless people to try it. Based on such a sport, a modular base camp and supply station is designed for climbers and tourists at the start and end of the route.

According to the different needs of different numbers of people, the design is developed in combination with the analysis of human scale. This type of feed station combines many different functions in one simple modular unit, depending on the ability of the climber and the needs of the climb. In order to meet different needs in a very limited space, a part of the building is designed to be rotatable, allowing users to rotate according to their needs.

Through this design I hope to provide more support and safety for climbers, thus reducing the risk factor of the sport. I also wanted to give ordinary people the opportunity to climb and observe nature from the cliff face.

Difficulties: A vertical crack only 15-30cm wide, which can only be moved upwards by the twisting of the climber's body.

Two cliff faces perpendicular to each other and located late in the route, which is physically challenging

After completing the entire route, you can look down on the surrounding scenery from the top of the hill.

Difficulties: One move requires climbing on a pea-sized handle point and "karate kicking" with one foot to reach the stepping point.

Difficulties: Vertical cliffs, lacking a support point and relying entirely on the strength of the climber's fingers.

Rock climbing is a sport that attracts many people, but it also causes many accidents every year.

Studying the utilization rate of different shape spaces, we can see that when there is more sharp angle in the space and the use of a separate space, the utilization rate is low, which is very unfavorable for the limited space on the cliff. So it is important to improve the building surface available in the space. Regarding the situation of alone, except the experienced people who can complete the entire climbing within one day, we need to meet the some basic living functions for rock climbers, such as sleeping, catering, and brief rest.

For those who are accompanied, not only need to meet their basic living needs such as sleeping, diet, etc., but also add some space for communication and gathering. In addition, the teams of teams are more important to view the beautiful mountain scene, so the view of the landscape is more important in use.

As for the users who engage in group activities, based on the principle of low-impact development, prefabricated modules and replicability are mainly used in construction. Some buildings can be used as a base camp for climbers, for temporary rest, material storage, or a supply station for everyone.

Soul Terminal]

[LIFE AFTER LIFE]

Project Duration : 2022.11-2022.12

Subject : Virtual Architectural Design

"What is the world like after a person dies? Is there really a soul? Where do people's souls go after they die?" ...... People are curious about the world after death and, as the film says, the greatest fear of life is often linked to the unknown and accompanied by the more tempered fear of being forgotten.

And there are now more and more practical examples of the seemingly impossible phenomenon of the <near-death experience>, in which people experience the feeling of being out of body, living as a soul, as if there were an alternative dimension separate from the real world. This space is seemed to be connected to the real world and allows one to see what his body is experiencing, as well as allowing one to look back on one's own life and see deceased people one has not seen for a long time. Until they wake up or actually die.

The design is based on this idea, by designing soul collection stations in different corners of the world and sending them to one soul terminal after another. Here they stay for as long or as short a time as they like, they can live, move around and socialise ...... But at a certain point, they have to ascend to the topmost platform to decide whether to return to their reality. Virtual technology generates virtual images

<A Farewell to Arms>

“I felt my soul come out of my body, as if were taking a corner of a silk handkerchief and pulling it out of my pocket. The silk handkerchief fluttered around and finally returned to its old place and went into the pocket.”

“Patients described leaving their bodies;being able to see from a vantage point above and then traveling down a tunnel or a canyon joined by loving guides. It is where they re-lived events from the point of view of others, feeling the pain and joy they brought.“

Freedom to change the environment in which the room is located The picture loses colour and the characters lose their ability to move when it fails

“I discovered common and universal themes in near-death experiences that go beyond neurophysiological or cultural interpretations, as well as patterns of consistent aftereffects on individuals’ attitudes, beliefs, values, and personalities.”

“These near-death experiences have been reorganised and categorised into five main stages of the near-death process. Looking closely at each step, we seem to see an increasingly thorough picture of the dying process.”

A person is struck while rafting in a river and suffers a brief coma. During the time she was unconscious, she felt like she had gone to a different world.

In the blink of an eye she was on a mountain path again, which seemed to be the only one around.

According to her companion, her brain did not respond to the outside world for quite some time, and everyone thought she would not alive.

Through several real life stories of near death experiences, the common spatial elements that occur are summarised and based on these elements design prototypes are refined to meet the needs of the space.

The main assembly space, located on high ground, is almost the last space for the entire neardeath experience.

Each man has his own individual space where he can look back on his life as if he were watching a film.

"I was swept into the water by the rushing river and lost consciousness throughout. At one point seemed to see my soul flying out of my body and saw my teammates looking for me, but my body floated uncontrollably towards a mountain path. Walking through the path came to a space with a circular dome, like a huge assembly place."

"II saw a lot of family and friends who have passed away, and I saw a lot of moments from my childhood, youth and later in life that I miss, as if had watched a movie about my life. But the people saw told me it wasn't my last time, so was pushed back by a huge push. I thought the whole thing was long, but it was actually only about a minute or two.

A circular corridor with different exits, each with the option to leave at a different node.

A long tunnel passage is the space through which everyone necessarily passes to connect real life and neardeath experiences.

Each person finds their memories of different stages of their lives in the labyrinthine space and sees how they have changed.

In near-death experiences, light is a sign that guides people onward and go back to the real living world.

These corridors make you feel as if you are retracing your life, only in flashback, eventually returning to infancy

"I entered the so-called near-death state after injuring my head. After about ten seconds of falling at high speed, stopped at the end of a small, narrow bridge with a dark tunnel at the other end, a strange scene, but had no choice but to move on. At the end of the walk was an ocean and my father was standing in it, that's where he was last wrecked."

"It was as if I went into a cycle where I saw the whole process of my pregnancy and even after the baby was born, and I seemed to live for a long time in this state where also had my own family and friends. I spent what I thought was a wonderful life there, but when I woke up found I was still in hospital, having just lost my unborn child in a car accident."

Memorable moments in many people's lives are deliberately displayed and people can experience the joy of the moment.

Recurring walls that make one feel lost in a neardeath experience that seems to go nowhere.

A small sunken theatre where different souls from the same area gather and interact.

Vertical traffic transports those souls who stay for a long time to the small house where they will live next.

The winding staircase meets the need for the souls of the different rooms to visit each other without being too intrusive.

As the spiral staircase slowly ascends, it is time for the different souls to choose their final destination.

A waterfall was seems to be the gateway to this world. Some people also feel like they are crossing a bridge and that it is very narrow. Wanna to go back to my childhood. Many floating souls have been seen being transported by some cart-like vehicle. Some people describe it as a strange world where everything recurs or overlaps. But most of the activity space still goes like a maze Important moments in your life are displayed in front of you as if they were frozen in time. Tunnels are something that almost all dying people can see. You seem to be walking with your back to everyone. There is also a narrow corridor to negotiate. But she was able to describe the scene in the resuscitation room.

But I can feel the thoughts and calls of my loved ones and friends, and don't think I should upset them too much in that world, though I may have fallen into this too-goodto-be-true environment.

I ended up going under the dome at the top, walking up that staircase and standing on that platform so I could decide to go back to that original world. Perhaps the next time I come here again, might make the choice to leave.

Every day, many souls travel through the same halls of activity from below to where they live and decide to stay for a while, and many choose to reach the top to face the question of their life choices.

The "Minle Park" commercial area was one of the early commercial districts in Xi'an. After a short period of prosperity, it gradually lost its competitiveness in the intense commercial wave and became alienated from the youthful social life of today.

Due to the large scale of the area and the complex functions of the buildings in the area, covering commercial, office, entertainment and residential functions, it was impractical to demolish and redevelop the whole area. In order to promote the development of the whole area, the main commercial complexes and some of the activity nodes will be renovated to meet the needs of different groups of people, such as local residents, foreign visitors and office workers, and to create a vibrant and interesting public space.

Before the renovation, the commercial units were independent of each other and lacked connections. The first step in the transformation is to open up the ground floor and shape the horizontal axis; the second step is to connect the various parts through a first floor corridor; the third step is to make a specific division of the commercial pattern; the fourth step is to treat the commercial interface according to its function; and finally to form another level of connection through a high line corridor. activity points and locations

Single activity space after renovation

The chosen site is the main west entrance space of the former Wanda Atrium. After the transformation, this area not only becomes a traffic node for the horizontal commercial corridor, but also increases the vertical traffic connection, dispersing the flow of people with different functions, creating a connection but not affecting each other, which can drive the development of the whole commercial belt. At the same time, the quality of the atrium space has been upgraded, and with the raised roof space, the sense of space and comfort of the atrium has been fully expanded.

Layout of activity floor after renovation

Ground floor layout after renovation

The chosen site is the former roundabout converted into an event square. After the transformation, a residential building on the southwest side of the intersection was demolished, expanding the entire activity space. At the same time, the activity plaza became the leading space for Minsheng's commercial activities, which can effectively drive Minsheng's soon to disappear commercial status. It is a good way to enhance the living standard of the residents in the vicinity. Therefore, this point occupies a very important position in the overall layout of the renovation.

TECHNICAL STUDY

Project Duration : 2020.07-2020.8

Subject : Technical study

Type of work : Team work

Site :Yaan,Sichuan,China

In this project, we designed an outdoor pavilion for tourists and residents to view, rest and hold activities for a homestay, aiming to create a special outdoor experience on the mountain of tea

When discussing materials and construction technology, after considering the actual factors such as function, construction, cost, transportation, etc. we finally chose wood and a more suitable structure, and completed the construction by relying on manpower in Tea mountain.

Through this cooperative construction project, I not only deeply realized the importance of teamwork, but also learned a lot of knowledge about architectural structure.
