“N BEZIER” PROJECT(2014-2015) RESEARCH TEAM: ASSEMPICUR DURATION: 1 Year RESPONSIBLE PART: Digital (Code & Modeling) Tutor: Manuel Jiménez García, Gilles Retsin

Over years, architectural design has been influenced a lot by digital design and 3D printing, not only resulting in the progress of releasing labor force, but also the possibility of the architectural structure which can not be imagined before. Nevertheless, how architectural productions can be constructed at will under the condition of using digital and 3D printing is still need to be deeply invested and developed. Here in the paper, how architectural production can be scalable whatever the complicated structure it has is mainly talked about. In order to speculate the problem of “scalable” under the condition of digital design and 3D printing. The project here tries to use “cell” idea which is based on the theory of Levi R. Bryant and the epigenetic landscape, as well the past researches from Fabio Gramazio and Matthias Kohler, Michael Hansmeyer, Sara Franceschelli and so on to modify the common space frames. According to the idea mentioned above, the paper focus on the research which firstly use the tension and compression analysis from the architectural structure as the influencing factor, and secondly use the simulation of the material organization (with the help of java language) as the factor being influenced by influencing factor, thereby achieve the goal of “scalable”, meanwhile decrease the limit of using space frames when complicated architectural structure is constructed.

BRC, AIRCBD(2012-2013) LOCATION: Chengdu, Sichuan Province, China SITE AREA: 153880m2 BUILDING AREA: 480105m2 Tutor: Prof.Ming ZHANG LOCATION

According to the study of the city image, which is created by Kevin Lynch, the wish is to make a connection of the site with the whole city in order to make a continuous city image. Meanwhile, it is significant to pay attention to the unique culture of the city and combine them with complex functions to meet different people’s life. TRAFFIC ANALYSIS subway system

FUNCTION ANALYSIS It is obvious that the site lacks an intensive commercial section. As an important character, the intensive commercial section can bring a variety of people there, increasing the dynamics the area needs. Therefore, it is important to make an intensive commercial section with complex functions as well as the culture the site has.
