Bob Marley’s youngest son-Damian Junior Gong Marley was in the country recently and he really caused a stir firstly for his super long dreadlocks, and the little incident with a famous media personality at the airport. He then went on to adopt a lion naming it ‘Mukoma Marley’ to the delight of his Kenyan fans. He staged one of the biggest and most memorable shows at the Street fusion event held at the Carnivore grounds in celebration of his father’s legacy, as well as to bring the best of pure reggae music to the African continent. He performed for about an hour and a half and left the crowd chanting for more of him as he sang songs like ‘Jah Will be Waiting’, ‘Welcome To Jamrock’,’Affairs Of The Heart’ and ‘Setup Shop’ amongst many other songs backed up by a brilliant live band all the way from Kingston Jamaica. He was extremely moved by all the love he received from the Head Corner Stone group amongst other partners and the highlight for him was seeing the Maasai’s dance and sing in their regalia at the KWS orphanage who were also present at the backstage of this great event. Other curtain raisers who performed were Wyre the Love Child, Khaligraph Jones, Gravitti Band and Juacali who were all amazing. This wasn’t your usual reggae experience as the crowd was more mature yet hyper and the setup especially in the VVIP section was exceptional. There were bitings courtesy of Carnivore Tamarind and drinks on all tables inclusive of a bottle of jack daniels and guests had a perfect walkway path close to the stage.Dohty Family, Deejay Crème de la crème and super technics spun mixes from all over the world as Kris Darlin, Mc Phillipo and Jambi Koikai aka Fayah Mummah kept the super charged crowd on their feet. It was a great night out.
