Stanley Enow aka King Kong is a hip hop artist to watch this year.With his infectious music and extremely great swag he originates from Cameroon and was in Kenya for the just concluded Tomorrow Leaders Festival.I caught up with him in this up close and candid interview to talk more about his music career,family amongst other stuff.Here is what he had to say: How many years have you been singing? I've been singing since nursery school. If it were not for music,what other career path would you have taken up? I would be a journalist in the broadcast industry. Do your family support you or did they have issues at some point with you doing music? My parents had issues with me doing music but now support me fully because I'm independent and I can take care of myself. When did your big break come? In 2013 Are you married?Any Kids? I'm not married but I have a four year old child.
How do you manage to balance your music career and personal life? I work a lot,money comes as a bonus.I keep going and I value family time. How many albums do you have to your name? One album-’Soldier Like My Papa’’-because my energy comes from my dad for his bravery and strength as he used to be a soldier. How many awards have you ever won in your musical career? I have won one mtv award for best new act beating Burna Boy and Phyno. What is your ideal holiday destination and why? Zanzibar-Discover it and it's a beautiful place. I hear you have a foundation,tell me more about it? Yes I do -the Stanley Enow Foundation which I use as a platform to ensure the kids have a beautiful future. How did you feel performing at the Tomorrow Leaders Festival? It was the greatest performance of my life,can't wait to come back to Kenya. Which artists would you like to do collaborations with? Nyashinski,Khaligraph Jones and Sauti Sol.I would also like to collaborate with Jose Chameleone.I already have a collaboration with Diamond Platnumz that should be out soon What inspires your fashion sense? It is inspired by myself and what my eyes like.My robes are designed by a friend of mine as well. What things will you remember about Kenya when you go back home? Hospitality,media people,beautiful women,the food and all the love Ive received during my stay. What advice can you give to upcoming hip hop artists?
