TTRIBAL CHIC MAIN 2021(RECAP/HIGHLIGHTS)

The tribal chic main fashion event took place recently recently at the Tribe Hotel in village market.

The venue which was setup with LCD screens highlighting abstract artwork surrounded the poolside which was lighted up by the flame poles as part of the props for the runway section of the event.

Ghetto Classics opened the fashion show with a spectacular electrifying urban contemporary dance that wowed the audience. Next the MC’S for the evening, Amina Abdi Rabar and Fareed Khimani both walked onstage to welcome the guests and introduce the first set of designers onstage that is Niku Singh ,Hzajar ,Live Hekaya,Deepa Dosaja ,Ikwetta ,Mambo Pambo,Wangari Mathenge plus Looks Like Avido who all showcased well inspired fashion designs that all brought out the theme of the events strongly …A different World.There was also a special guest designer appearance by Mercedes Campuzano straight from Colombia and it was quite refreshing watching her showcase her designs in Kenya as well as interacting with her at the popup market sponsored by the Colombian Embassy.

Canapes, Drinks of all kinds and other surprises were served to the guests during the event with a small break in-between for people to freshen up and view /visit the various popup markets that sold eccentric fashion pieces and accessories for two days. The winner of the Tribal Collabs-Team Pink that comprised of Isha and Kisha plus Brian Msafiri got to display their brilliant Asian masterpiece and received a one-year contract from Little Red (one of the official sponsors). There were also workshops during the day based on personal branding, crypto art and then a talk from the Little Red Director.

Niku Singh’s designs did so well on the runway showcasing the best in Traditional African men’s and women’s wear, African Prints/evening gowns all embroidered in silver,gold,brass and African beads.Hzajar designed crotchet inspired outfits which were also beautiful .Looks like Avido had his signature African printed outfits (born and bred in Kibera ) live Hekaya had cotton floral dress designs, Deepa dosaja had floral inspired casual/smart casual designs with matching unique bags,Ikwetta had casual wear designs with matching bags ,mambo pambo had tie and dye fashion (casual and evening outfits) while Wangari Mathenge had daring swimwear/lingerie designs.

Special guests in attendance included Aulgah NATO, Vinnie O, John Kaveke, Connie Olouch, Jo Kisila, Teacher Wanjiku, Lilian Muli, Nthenya Mwanzia, Troy White, Jeff Koinange, Elizabeth Kalondu Musyoka, Emmanuel Jambo, Kate the Actress aka Catherine Kamal, Naomi Nganga, Anne and Iona McCreathe, Brian of Elani and Angela Muiruri.All Prestigious invited guests got gift bags courtesy of the tribe hotel Team. It was a very colorful wonderful event full of pomp, high end fashion and beautiful people.
