American Craftsmanship ~ Leather Cutting & Hand Cutting Fabric

BRADINGTON-YOUNG

Our leather cutting process uses a combination of leather markers and hand cutters. Once our leather markers have “marked” each custom ordered piece to its exact specifications, the leather is then sent to our hand cutters. Our hand cutters wear a special wire mesh glove that protects the leather as well as the hand itself, keeping both safe. Each piece of leather is cut carefully and precisely to match the marked pattern so it “fits like a glove” once the upholstery department begins to work their magic. Cutting upholstery fabric is an art form that takes years of experience and a skilled eye for detail. Every piece of furniture has a unique cutting pattern, and every fabric has its own special qualities. This requires a talented cutter to thoughtfully combine the two and create a perfectly matched piece. Stripes, plaids, florals, plains ~ they must all be handled differently to bring out their beauty and to create a flawless final product.
