Extended Warranties: Are They Worth It? Technological advancement has provided us with many benefits but it has made gadgets more expensive. The thought of breaking or damaging your phone is quite scary and the warranties provided by most companies last for only a year. Thus the consumer is forced to spend a huge sum to get the device repaired leading to a big hole in the pocket. Taking this problem into account, companies and third party providers have started providing the option to purchase extended warranties with the original device.
So what is an extended warranty? Extended Warranty starts the day after the original warranty provided by the manufacturer expirer. It mostly covers accidental damage protection (ADP) and liquid damage and prevents you from spending a huge amount in case your device gets damaged. Third party providers such as Warranty Bazaar also provide the option to purchase extended warranty. Simply select a plan according to the price of your device and you can protect your device for a few more years. An important thing to keep in mind is to purchase it within a week of purchasing the original device. So are they worth it? In my opinion, definitely since we feel totally handicapped without our smartphones and thus it is essential to keep them protected. Moreover, the price we pay to buy the extended warranty is nothing compared to the price we would have paid if the device was not under warranty. Secondly, with increased usage of bigger smartphones, the chances that they would slip from our hands are higher. So next time you buy a new device, don’t forget to buy an EXTENDED warranty for your mobile and tablet!
