intro • news in brief • gum clinic - tuesday week 3
Hi all! Hope you’re all surviving Term 3 so far – a huge well done to all of you who have handed in assignments, and best of luck to everyone who is still working on essays and revision! Because Term 3 can be so stressful, we are continuing to run our annual summer campaign, Feel Good, which re-launches this week. Feel Good is here to provide a hub for advice, information and support during this stressful term, with tips on healthy eating, physical & mental health and exam/revision support. This year I am hugely excited that it has its own dedicated webpage – but don’t forget that I also operate an opendoor policy, so please remember that I am here for you to chat about any concerns. It’s vital that you take time off work to relax and enjoy yourself, so please check out all the events and activities that are going on this term - with summer just around the corner, this year is only going to get better!
news in brief summer party – line-up announced We were delighted to announce that this year’s Summer Party headliner is the brilliant NOAH & THE WHALE. Expect them to bring a healthy splash of sunshine when they belt out anthems like L.I.F.E.G.O.E.S.O.N. and 5 Years Time! Joining them on the main stage will be a diverse line-up incorporating RnB (Ms. Dynamite), pop (Stooshe), bassline electro (Jakwob), urban soundclash (Clement Marfo & the Frontline), indie (Post War Years), roots reggae (By the Rivers) and this year’s Battle of the Bands winners, 3=Car. All this plus a 2nd stage programmed by LeDice and WSAF, student talent in the Un-plucked tent, Curiositea’s 50s-themed diner, a free funfair, inflatable Olympics arena, the after-party (brought to you by Ministry of Sound) and much more! Tickets cost £38 and have been flying out since they went on sale – don’t forget that they’re available to all Warwick students regardless of year group! Visit www.warwicksu.com/summer to purchase yours.
grad ball 2012 – full details and tickets online now We’ve also unveiled our plans for this year’s spectacular Masquerade Ball at the Birmingham Hilton Metropole. Tickets cost £68 and include a full 4-course meal, an array of entertainment and return transport – you can find out everything that’s going on at www.warwicksu.com/summer. Combo tickets for the Grad Ball and Summer Party have now sold out, and individual Grad Ball tickets are only available to Finalists and their guests.
sports ball – sold out!
Keep calm, have a cuppa and carry on!
In what can only be described as the biggest rush for tickets since Chris Sury announced that he was going to be performing The Full Monty live onstage at Pop! (alright, this might be a lie), this year’s Sports Ball sold out a record 24 hours after going on sale. We have therefore started up a waiting list at SUHQ Reception if you want to buy or sell tickets.

global events – not happening this term
And, as always, your Sabbs are here for you, so do come and see us about anything.
WELFARE OFFICER
The Term 3 Wallplanner states that Global will be running in The Terrace Bar on even weeks this term. However, due to the organisers’ academic commitments, this is now not the case. We look forward to Global returning in Term 1, but don’t forget that Idioteque, Get Funked and Mixology will all be running as normal! We apologise for any disappointment this may cause.
tuesday wk 3 The first of our two GUM Clinics this term will take place in Copper Rooms 2 from 12pm on Tuesday 8th May (Week 3). As always, it’s completely free and confidential, and no appointment is necessary – just turn up on the day between the hours advertised and you can get yourself checked out for STIs (sexually transmitted infections). Whether you’ve had protected or unprotected sex recently, it’s always good to get a clean bill of health – pop along and get tested!
feel good campaign
FEEL GOOD CAMPAIGN
Z
Z
Z
The Feel Good campaign was set up in 2008 and the Welfare Officer of the SU has run it annually ever since. It grew out of the fact that, although students do experience stress and anxiety around exams and coursework all year round, there is a concentration of academic pressure in the Summer Term – which means that more students need more support more frequently. This year, Feel Good has its own dedicated page on the SU website (www.warwicksu.com/feelgood), and there will also be paper copies of the guide available around the SU. This features specific sections on maintaining good mental health, eating well, exercise, revision, sleep patterns and exam practise - make sure you look after yourself during this key period, as keeping your health in good order is a vital component of academic success! Don’t forget there are also a range of support services available across campus if you find that things are getting too much and you need to talk to someone.
You can find the different ways to get in touch with these services to the right:
